About

WISHFUL DRINKING, Carrie Fisher's autobiographical solo show, follows Fisher's life. Born to celebrity parents, Fisher lands among the stars when she's picked to play a princess in a little movie called ‘Star Wars.' But her story isn't all sweetness and light sabers. As a single mom, she also battles addiction, depression, mental institutions, and that awful hyperspace hairdo. It's an incredible tale-from having her father leave her mother for Elizabeth Taylor to marrying and divorcing singer/songwriter Paul Simon, from having the father of her baby leave her for a man to waking up one morning and finding a friend dead beside her in bed. Don't miss this opportunity to see Carrie Fisher's hit Broadway show.

    Wishful Drinking (Chicago)

by smoochey on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

My husband and I were laughing the entire time! Carrie Fisher was very entertaining and got the audience involved. My husband didn't really want to go at first, but had a fun time! He actually is spreading the word that others should go see it. We are glad we went.

    Carrie Fisher is brilliant!

by YoungestintheAudience on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

This show was absolutely hilarious. It's a one-woman show, with Carrie Fisher running around a set that looks like a living room. She was so dynamic and energetic during the entire show, even though she does it multiple times a week. I laughed so hard, her jokes were fantastic! This show is for people who appreciate irony and sarcasm. And her impressions of Debbie Reynolds, her mother, who she clearly loves, were spot-on! Even the warnings before the show and the intermission music were part of the joke. It was a great production, through and through, and I highly recommend it.

    Too bad Carrie got political

by cleanguy on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Why is it comedians who are putting on a funny show have to inject politics into their act? Bringing Bush into it only gave her an opportunity to Bash...while my ticket price paid for the bash. Would've been funnier if ithe performance had been "politics free"

    Carrie is brilliant

by TCMH on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Few actors could hold the attention of the audience for the evening playing someone else's life experiences, but Carrie tells her own story. She is entertaining, talented and brilliant.

Carrie Fisher is hilarious, and real!

by Tookthetrainin on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Hard to believe you could sit and listen to her talk for 2 hours about her life..but it was very entertaining! You could say this was Carrie Fisher unplugged! She opens herself up to all of us with reality and humor that really makes you understand her life's travels. I wish her only the best in the future!

    Fun evening with Carrie Fisher!

by CollegeDramaDirector on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Carrie Fisher shares a delightful romp of growing up in the Hollywood spotlight in her one-woman show "Wishful Drinking." The show is simultaneously touching and heart breaking, yet broken up with lots of laughter. Ultimately, Fisher takes the audience on a cathartic and comedic trip through her life with stars for parents, Hollywood drama, Star Wars, addiction and weight gain. Enjoyable!

    Waste of Time

by DDSS1 on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 2! Very little was truly entertaining and I'm getting really tired of liberals bashing anything that isn't left wing! The multiple pictures of GWB making him look like an ape was the last straw! Naturally anybody can be made to look like a dummy by taking a picture when they're yawning, winking, etc. Didn't see any pictures of Obama in a similar fashion that evening! Also the seats were terrible! Sat in the second row of the orchestra. The seating is only slightly inclined so we couldn't see through the heads of the people in front of us. We'll never attend the Bank of America again! Total waste of time!

    Carrie Fisher was hilarious!

by Xoinx on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Think Spalding Gray if he had been on the right meds and had been born into L.A. aristocracy. Fisher can do it all--write, do stand-up, ad-lib with the audience, and still carry a tune after talking and smoking for two hours.

More entertaining than the title implies

by FormosaJane on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Having grown up with alcoholic parents, the title "Wishful Drinking" actually was a little bit of a turnoff, but I had read Carrie Fisher's "Postcards from the Edge" and was intrigued enough to go. I'm glad I did. Carrie's performance was funny and original--well worth the time and the discounted parking charge. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I really enjoyed Carrie's interaction with the sign-language interpreters. Usually they go mostly unnoticed.

The force is still with Carrie!!!!

by RARM on 10/17/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Was lucky enough to see Carrie's show last week. It was totally fabulous. I highly recommend it to everyone, over 21 that is. After everything she's been through to be able to talk about her life so openly and light heartedly is truly inspiring. Having had the priveledge to have been introduced to her mother several years ago it made some of the material even funnier for me as I had "first hand" knowledge of the subject she was speaking about. Well done Carrie!

Wishful Drinking fabulous and hysterically funny

by trixer on 10/16/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The best solo performance I have ever seen. It was hysterically funny and her interaction with certain folks she picked out of the audience just added to the fun. Her description of life growing up in "hollywood" was painted with wonderful sarcastic, biting humor as only she could offer. Had no idea ...or else forgot ... that Paul Simon was in her life ... and that she is a wonderful writer. Certainly her life filled with many addictions and problems has not negatively affected her biting sense of humer.

    Carrie Fisher is ok

by SinDee666 on 10/16/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Carrie Fisher was ok. She did several quotes from Star Wars and showed a couple of clips, as expected. Some of her family jokes were funny, but she isn't stand up comedian funny. More like friends joking around funny. If you want insight into her life by all means go see this, she is very open. If you are looking for a really good laugh, head somewhere else.

Wishful Drinking was funky & fun!

by Marcheska on 10/16/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I was not expecting a lot from this show, as children of known stars often don't have a lot of talent themselves but still have to make their way in this world. Carrie sang a little bit, and mostly told stories or presented observations about herself and her childhood through adulthood years. With a little bit of audience interaction, I was pleasantly surprised that Carrie didn't waste my time ragging about her parents and other Hollywood stars. While I'm not normally an out-loud laugher, I was so busy laughing aloud from the first thing Carrie said, that I almost missed the second thing she said that was equally funny. On the whole, I was delightedly entertained---and it was just the right length of time to end the show when it did. I hope she does well. The show should have been more advertised to generate better ticket sales. Thanks, Ticketmaster, for your discounted ticket price for this show. It's the reason I took a chance on seeing it! Now I want to see, "Love, Loss & What I Wore'', but I can't find a discount on Wed. matinees.
