Winnipeg Jets History

The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.

Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (now the Arizona Coyotes). In the 12 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made six playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.

In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

    Food is so expensive

by Kevman on 4/8/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Loved everything about the experience except the food prices. It’s just too hard to enjoy the game without a good snack.

We hit a great game! Jets were on fire! Much needed W over D

by Sloop on 4/3/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

My only complaint…. Your craft beer corner needs to support local breweries from Manitoba. Rotate the taps / support local!!

First time at WPG JETS home arena.

by Rod on 3/21/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Great venue and atmosphere. My family and I were able to get lower bowl seating for 6 of us and it was awesome! We do not live in Winnipeg but are huge Jets fans. I will certainly return to Jets games at home any time I am in Winnipeg in the future as will my family.

    Good game, horrible food

by CF on 3/20/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Seats were fine, game was good, but our “Gourmet Burgers” were stone cold. Not just room temp, but actually cold. Seems like they are just warming up pre-cooked burgers, and not doing a great job of it.

    by C. J. on 3/19/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

This was my first time at a Jets game in Canada Life Center, I had a great time. Friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks and food. I'll be back and I may bring friends.

Awesome environment and hockey game with our Grandson Brady

by Buddy on 3/19/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Purchased three of the souvenir pucks but didn’t get a golden one . Our Grandsin is a diehard BB fan and that was he first time he saw them play.

A great night although room for better.

by Rex on 1/31/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Appreciated the pregame 6.00 beer special, although I feel that you shouldn't need to pay more than 10.00 for any premium brand draft or craft beer. Over 12.00 is way too much, and leaves a bad feeling of overpricing. I also don't participate in the 50/50 now that the options are 1 for 10.00 or 10 for 20.00. And now that they are sold to online to people not even at the game takes away from knowing that the winning ticket will be someone in attendance at the game. Often the winning ticket numbers aren't even close to the ones purchased at the game.

    Jets vs the Flyers

by country guy on 1/31/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Canadalife center is a real nice venue. The Jets game is fun even though they really played terrible and couldn't score a goal. The negatives. I don't mind a venue making some profit but how is $3 for water, $8 for a medium popcorn and $13 for a can of beer not price gouging? I can buy the same beer at a restaurant for $5-6 and they're making money. People bring in kids so don't bend them over on overpriced food. I go to a game once a year and it's a real turnoff to attending honestly. For a guy living outside of Winnipeg not getting to Canadalife center and downtown in general very often a bit clearer signage to parking with maybe heading N, S, E and West would help. You leave the game in the dark so you have little to no sense of direction when leaving in a crowd of thousands. My wife and I made a wrong turn trying to get back to our car and had to navigate back against the flow. Real frustrating experience which doesn't make me want to rush back. Might be no big deal for season ticket holders who go often but for us it was not a good experience trying to navigate the maze of tunnels, stairs and walkways when you're not familiar with the area.

Would definitely go again, love seeing this team play even when they don’t have there best offensive game they always play aggressively.

    Better then expected

by Rosie on 1/31/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

So the wife and I decided last minute to go to game, we got tickets from ticket master and booked a hotel beside the arena. The people(jets fans) were very friendly and we had no issues wearing the visitors colors. First time at the jets arena and it was very well organized and easy to get around.

    Teeth Vibrating

by Rock on 1/9/23Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

The few minutes leading up to pick drop, especially the fellow with the microphone were loud, obnoxious and irritating. I thought I was going to a hockey game, not a rave. Lose the guy with the microphone and TONE IT DOWN. A LOT. The whole pre-game experience made me reconsider going to another Jets game. Which is sad.
