Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

The Vancouver Canucks play their home games at the 475,000-square foot Rogers Arena(Opens in new tab), which also played host to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games where Sidney Crosby scored the “Golden Goal.” A staple of downtown Vancouver, the Canucks played their first game at the arena on October 9, 1995. Other notable events that have taken place at the arena include the 1998 NHL All-Star Game, 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and in October 2002 when Queen Elizabeth II dropped the ceremonial first puck during an NHL exhibition game between the Canucks and San Jose Sharks.

    Attended the viewing party on Sun May 12th, Mother's Day. Family of 5 = $100 what a great value! Lots of entertainment for that price and proceeds go to Canucks Kids. Thanks for hosting this, would highly recommend.

    The washrooms were a nightmare not enough men’s and security did not do their job regulating the entrance and exit doors the lineups were very long and people were going in the exit doors causing the entrance line to hardly move this caused arguments and almost a fight some fans have diabetes and when you have to go it’s very hard to wait this needs to be corrected until it is I won’t return to Roger’s Arena

    10/10 and hands down the best hockey game I’ve ever been to. The energy was legitimately through the roof. The crowd was the loudest I’ve ever heard it. The crowd never lost hope and continued to cheer on our boys. The comeback win was a sight to behold. Incredible. I can’t wait for me next one 💚💙

    It. Was super fun. However::: where do you get the tickets? I also understand that now scalpers are buying up lots of tickets. There are few opportunities for Vancouver families to go to game in Roger’s arena and even that has to be exploited I’ve gone on this website, ticket master and googled and can’t find the tickets at all. Any suggestion? Go Canuck Go

    We had a great time at the road game viewing party. It was perfect for our family of four. It was reasonably priced and packed full of entertainment. The Jumbotron was great for watching the game. I really hope the Canucks continue doing this for a future road games as we progress through the playoffs. I will never forget the excitement when we scored the goal and won the game. The sound was so loud that my ears were ringing. We will be waving our towels in our living room until another opportunity presents itself to go back to Rogers Arena. ❤️Go Canucks Go!❤️
