1st Class operation. Had a great time on the 16th hole.
- Ultra suite was way over sold - too crowded - Course - never seen so many carts on the course - every contribution group was allocated a cart - Could have done a better job of controlling dust by watering down dirt paths - carts had little regard for patrons leaving them in a cloud of dust - Parking was non-existent
Let me preface by saying I've been a long-time spectator of the VTO, as a fan and as a volunteer. As a volunteer and as retired military veteran, I've enjoyed seeing the tournament from several different reserved/designated tents. However, this year my wife and I decided to buy the $100 tickets to the Ultra Lounge Tent and just enjoy the tournament in comfort as a fan even though I could have received free tickets to the Heroes Tent. My complaint and dissatisfaction is that you really don't get anything worth $100 from the Ultra tent experience. The tent is so oversold there is no place to sit most times, the food for sale is limited (when not sold-out), and the cash bar lines are so long all day that it is easier to go to nearby concessions. Also, I don't mind paying when I know I have to ahead of time, but I feel the ticket sale was a little misleading about what one actually receives in the Ultra tent. Next time I will save my money, get tickets to the Heroes tent, walk around and spend my money elsewhere.
Easy to get into the event, ticket reader very knowledgeable and easy communication. The Lexus Cabana was a blast and full of food, fun, and drinks galore! Plenty of freebies and an abundance of people attending our every need at every turn.
Sat at Par 7 n players walked right by us. A few players have golf balls to kids n I took good pictures. Texas weather on Friday was Perfect
The event itself was great. What was not so great was the Wi-Fi service and the time it took to get a drink during the event. Several areas were understaffed resulting in 20 minute wait times standing in line.
The weather was awesome & the food was really good & lots of choices. The only real issues was the women's restrooms. They were small & NO handicap restrooms were available to the general public that I could find. I'm not that wide, but it was tight & turning around was a challenge!! Feel for the really wide women!!
Upgrade to the Ultra package a waste of money. Not were there no seats, you couldn't get within 2 to 3 people deep at the railings. Better views from the free gallery stands.
Everything about the tournament was well run. From purchasing admission tickets, parking the car, transportation to the course, admission onto the property and following the players, the experience was 1st class and enjoyable.
Bus transportation worked well and good quality was very good. Course too spread out and only good seating required vip packages.
Great Golf Tournament,Everyone Was Very Polite & Got Greeted Everywhere & We Felt Welcomed By All
First time at The Valero Open and it was a great experience. Very affordable to get in the gates and follow some of your favorite golfers. I’d recommend the Ultra passes, which give you access to a nice covered lounge and bar overlooking 16 tee. You’ll want to spend some time on the course but if that Texas heat gets too much you need an escape. Valero doesn’t quite have the field of the big events on tour but you can take in some great golf without worrying about the crowds too much.
We brought our 90 year old Father for his 2nd year to the Valero Texas Open. We bought our tickets for The U again. We were delighted to attend the open again. And had a great time. However, this year the service was terrible. There weren’t enough bartenders and considering we paid $100 pp. we shouldn’t have had to stand in such long lines. Then to turn around and stand in lines for food. I hope you will consider hiring more bartenders for next year. And there weren’t enough fans this year. 2 fans weren’t enough with all the people in the U. Last year there were fans on every other pole. It was much better circulating the air.
My second time going to the open in the cabana section. Hospitality was amazing again and can’t wait till next year!
Ticket prices were way too expensive! Parking at Retama Parkway was a joke! The food was terrible! But at least a really good guy won the tournament! I will not return next year.
The Ultra tickets were oversold and you could hardly find a seat. The lines for food and drink were ridiculous. The back side of the venue was cool the previous year but barren this year. We got the Presidential pass for our last day and the ONLY good spot was the Lexus area. Not sure what we were actually paying so much for as the Presidential area had poor service and not a great view. The Lexus area was perfect...great staff, food and view.
Great atmosphere! We definitely enjoyed the show and accommodating….. beautiful golf course with a great test to all the great Pro golfers.
Things went somewhat South from the beginning. The need to download the parking pass was a surprise and an inconvenience. Additionally, somehow I got semi- roped into a Hello Fresh Account--but was able to cancel out of it. Likely 68-year-old user error. The bus ride was excellent. Once in the gate we came to the information booth. We had PRES01 tickets (3). The attendants at the Info booth had some English language issues and insisted that all we had were general grounds admissions. We knew that for $793 each, that could not be right. We seemingly meandered from pavilion to pavilion until we stumbled upon a gentle soul woman who gave us great news--we arrived at a pavilion that offered comp food and full bar--which was fantastic. We faced the 18th green. Later in the day one of my guest took a walk over to the 16th hole. The entry bracelet allowed him access but he was informed that the drink that he just ordered (which is thought was also complimentary) was $20+. Ah, live and learn. I think that next time I might op for my comfortable living room with TV replays, food, drink and less aggravation.
I don’t mind spending 10 on a beer. But, 4.50 for a bottle of water, is highway robbery. And the water fountains were shut off. Disgraceful. The tournament was great.
The music venues themselves were excellent! General admission seating/standing was great. The only complaint we had was that the public restrooms were way in the back and there was no way you could get out because there were so many people on the lawn. It would’ve been great if they put some porta potty’s inside where people were sitting/standing to view the concert, instead of 150 yards in the back of venue.
