Sunday at the Prez Suite on the 18th Green

by J. Damon Christofilis on 4/10/19TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

Sunday at the VTO in the Prez Suite was well worth the price of admission. Weather was ever changing but that didn't matter as we were in the cozy confines of the Suite. Great food, great action on the course and the team that was in charge of the food and beverages was top notch. Very attentive. We will be back next year! Tip of the hat to Phil Sloan for getting us hooked up with the passes. Very happy to contribute to one of the largest charity fundraisers on the PGA Tour.

    Good tournament.

by M. M. on 4/10/19TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

I’ve been to several pga tournaments. General admission parking was too inconvenient and far away from event on Sunday. Too much time walking to and from shuttles in opposite direction of home. They should seek closer parking. Tuesday practice round had absolutely no food or drink to purchase all day. Not even in hotel. Nothing was set up. At least some food should be available for purchase.

    Needs improvement

by Golf Fan on 4/9/19TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

Be more consistent with rules: why so many prohibited bags allowed? And then we had to wait in long entry lines for said prohibited bags to be inspected and tagged - I'm not referring to diaper bags here. And then other people in line couldn't bring in their bags. I specifically put my things in a smaller than 6x6 bag, why was that even necessary? Improve the food at The U: no chips; no fries; no fruit; no hot chocolate; no fish tacos; no turkey burgers. Only beef and pork and bread. Come on, it's the 21st century

    Outreach

by A. R. on 4/8/19TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

The tickets at the U were great . Plus viewing the form of the pros was rewarding and gives me a lot to work on. One thing that needs to definitely worked on is that if you want to grow the golf game nationwide or in the city of San Antonio the tournament needs to attract many more minorities. In a city which is about 70% minority to have so few at the tournament is disgraceful. You can't have a lilly white , 90% white , male dominate crowd and expect the Texas Open to grow. They may have a better Spring date but the tournament is going nowhere without minority support and attendance. The gate was not reflective of San Antonio.

The Valero Open PGA Golf Tournament

by David on 4/7/19TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

The Valero Open golf tournament in San Antonio is an very well run and organized event. The volunteers do an outstanding job of helping those visiting the course and are friendly. My only suggestion to improve on this event is for Valero and Ticketmaster to sell the general admission tickets for any day admission and not sell them for Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. On the Ticketmaster site it states a general admission is good for any one day and while I was there I saw several people try to use tickets purchased on Thursday and Saturday try to enter the grounds on Friday and their tickets were not valid. The customer service tent where tickets were sold did a great job of investigating the purchases on their computer server to verify that the ticket was valid and this entire problem could be eliminated by just having Ticketmaster sell general admission for any day rather than a certain day.

    No parking ticket

by R. on 4/7/19TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

I bought a parking pass and when we got there we didn’t need it. 5 bucks wasted. That’s a small beer. 🤷🏽‍♂️🍺

    This place is beautiful

by SCTXDR on 4/26/18TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

This year is our groups 5th year to attend The Valero Open in San Antonio and it's a great place to watch the PGA players in action. There are many port-a-potties for the spectators, but my one big request would be to offer San Antonio's great food restaurants in to serve better food. The selection of food is not good and the quality is poor.

    Cabana at Valero Texas Open

by Patrick25 on 4/25/18TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

We were disappointed with the amenities at the Cabana on 16 this year. They set out a Kuerig for tea and hot chocolate and never refilled the pods on Friday and never put it out on Saturday. The wait at the bar was far too long to get your drinks. On Saturday they ran out of certain kinds of hard liquor for a good hour or more. The food was ok but they didn't keep the sides stocked at the burger station. We would be hard pressed to see the value in this venue for what we paid this year. They need to up their game if they want $325 a day.

    Great Family Fun

by Mike1300 on 4/24/18TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

The weather was great and the golf was even better. I took my family with me and had a great time. We were able to experience some close moments with the players and they respond to the kids really well. The future of this sport is well in hand with the people who are running it today.

    Great atmosphere! Awesome coordination!

by MrAbeBlanco on 4/24/18TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

Thank you all who helped making this past 2018 Valero Open so great! My wife and I went Saturday and Sunday and had a fantastic time. From the time we arrived until we left we truly enjoyed having seen all the amazing players, great course in fantastic shape, and great coordination and customer service all over the JW Marriot. Saturday was a little cloudy but that made it very pleasant. Sunday was super sunny but the weather was even more pleasant all over the course. Saturday we went to the U (hole 16) and had a blast there as we were able to see all players tee off from about 5 feet away on the stands! Sunday we walked about 12 holes following Kuchar and the group behind with Charlie Hoffman and it was a delight. This is our third year in a row and we for sure be back next year.

    The U was fantastic!

by JJLRV on 4/24/18TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

Our tickets were for The U seating area. So amazing! From what we would hear from other spectators The U is the best place to watch & we agree. The staff around the venue was very helpful. Really organized in shuttling us to & from the tournament. Had a great time!

    annual outing

by Emarbles on 4/24/18TPC San Antonio - San Antonio

This is a Father/Daughter weekend tradition for the past 3 years. My stepfather travels from Denver to Austin then we drive down Saturday and Sunday to watch the tournament. I'm not sure why a wristlet needs to be tagged with a tag bigger than the wristlet itself, but I know it's to keep everyone safe. Each year we can bring less in which is disheartening but we enjoy coming and look forward to next year!
