About

Uncle Kracker may have gotten his start on the turntables mixing rap and rock, but on his phenomenally popular album Follow Me, and the music that's followed, audiences have heard a softer, gentler sound. His 2009 hit single, “Smile,” debuted at No. 57 on the charts and was quickly embraced by country music fans. To top it off, he’s collaborated on songs and played concerts with country star Kenny Chesney on numerous occasions. On his 2013 tour, he shared a loaded ticket with longtime musical collaborator Kid Rock and Southern rock legends ZZ Top. His music was the softest and sweetest of the bunch, a mix of rock and country, including tracks off his 2012 album, Midnight Special, featuring the singles "Nobody's Sad on a Saturday Night" and "Blue Skies."

Uncle Kracker, born Matthew Shafer, grew up in Michigan, where he became best friends with then-unknown rap-rocker Kid Rock, who introduced Kracker into the turntable scene. Kracker soon became a featured vocalist on Rock's early albums. When Rock achieved musical success, Kracker decided it was time for him to release his own album, too. His debut, Double Wide, mostly featured a Kid Rock-style rap-rock mix, but it was the softer single, "Follow Me," that hit it big, charting on the Adult Contemporary and Country charts. The album went double platinum and spent an incredible 10 months on the Billboard 200. His 2003 remake of Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away” set the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. From his 2009 album, Happy Hour, Kracker's Don Williams-influenced “Smile” went double platinum. His most recent album, 2012’s Midnight Special, is Uncle Kracker’s first full country album.

This was the 2nd concert that i have attended at Oak Grove Gaming and Hotel, and let me tell you something! The second was just as awesome as the first! The space, the seats, the stage, the concessions, parking, all of it, seems perfect!

The 8 second saloon was a really fun place to see a show. The acoustics weren't great but the place was really fun. Loved Uncle kracker but it was just an okay performance.

    Quite the scene

by Courtn on 10/11/218 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

Uncle kracker was great, but the people watching was even better! We sat near the back of the event and the sound was not the greatest, If you didn’t know the song, you couldn’t understand a word he or the opener was singing. Same with talking, couldn’t understand them talking.

    Not what I expected

by JC on 2/5/20The Railhead at Boulder Station Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas

The 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the venue small and standing only. Uncle Kracker is so much better than this. He has one of the greatest voices of my time (I'm 59) he has and can put his stamp on about anything he sings. Rock, pop and country. He performed his hits, Memphis Soul Song is my favorite and it was great. The only song I was hoping to hear and didn't, was one I don't believe he recorded it but he knocked it out of the park when he performed it Window Up Above. No offense George but it is that Damm Good.

by D. on 1/22/20The Railhead at Boulder Station Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas

It was fantastic. This is the 4th time I have seen Uncle Kracker, twice here in Vegas and twice in California. The venue was all right, the crowd was great. I took 2 friends to the concert who had never seen Uncle Kracker perform and they really got into him also, we all had a blast. Can't wait til he comes back to the Vegas area again. My friends and I will definitely be there.

    Very disappointed!

by DZ on 1/21/20The Railhead at Boulder Station Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas

We had seen Uncle Kracker before at Sams Town. He put on a great show then and we actually had seats. We were excited to see him again. This concert started with standing room only. Which was fine. They told us we could stand anywhere. Even against the rails. So me and my husband got a perfect spot by the rails. We heard people complaining that there were no chairs and that was ridiculous. Staff members started to bring out a few chairs for handicap people. Next thing we knew they brought over 100 chairs. After standing in our spot For over 20 minutes a staff member came by and told us we had to move because that spot was ADA only. Which that was never told to us. We were told we could stand anywhere. We constantly had staff walking back in forth in front of us. The concert didn’t last an hour and a half and Uncle Kracker seemed he had a little bit much to drink. We have been to concerts at the Railhead before and very much enjoyed them. This time all around disappointing!

    A night to remember

by KZJan2020 on 1/21/20The Railhead at Boulder Station Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas

Uncle Kracker grabbed my hand!!!!!! I was 2 people away from the stage. I did not even leave to get another drink or use the restroom. He was amazing! He put on a fun show for a fun crowd. He was friendly and was not acting as if he is better than anyone else. It was a great time!
