Great performance. Loved the MN Twist. Very energentic...funny.
I prefer the traditional Nutcracker story. Did not like the changes made to the performance.
The play was two parts, the first a sort of historical/prologue and the next the familiar Cinderella story.
What a tremendous performance and story line. The dancing was excellent and the venue was great. My daughter and 2 granddaughters enjoyed every minute with me.
What a fantastic job the Twin Cities Ballet did. They all were incredible talented! Not only were the subtle additions very tasteful but they never lost the real storyline of the Nutcracker! Such great memories returned to me of my childhood because of the great job by all! Thank you Denise and Rick.
We completely enjoyed the entire performance! From the Artistic Director's preamble all the way through to, was it all really a dream!
Going to the Ames theater for a Minnesota Nutcracker is such a magical experience! Burnsville has all the trees decorated with lights, and illuminated snowflakes, so it looks like a winter wonderland. The ballet itself is wonderful. The dancers are so talented, and the costumes and sets are beautiful. It is fun to see Minnesota landmarks in the sets. And the new Minnesota themed dancers made it extra fun and special. It really makes for a magical Christmas experience!
I always enjoy TCB's performances. The dancers are wonderful actors as well, and really draw you into the story. I like how they incorporate the students into the performances with the professional dancers in really fun and age appropriate ways. I wish Ames Center didn't allow popcorn & snacks in the theater, though.
Only thing I would change is if there was empty seats everywhere for the balcony area to be able to go down to the lower level and not have obstructed views that's the stupid thing about the seating and would be nice to see performers be able to let you do that
It was a good show - the dancers were talented, although some could've used a little practice to be in sync. Unfortunately many attendees were rude, talking through the entire show making it difficult to enjoy, despite asking them to stop. We would go again, but probably not a matinee - our kids are grown now so it would be nice to enjoy without the kids kicking the back of your seat or screaming that they didn't want to sit on mom's lap. Overall, we'd go again!
Twin Cities ballet of Minnesota was great like always ! We been coming to enjoy this performance for few years now and it’s always great
Best show and great service!! Memories were made and love the energy of the show. Awesome show and costumes. Thanks!!
We had the ballet during a blizzard that the show should have been cancelled. They started the show late, people were still coming in 20 min after it started with their cell lights to find their seats. We found the show to be mediocre and kinda boring. Difficult to follow the storyline without reaching the booklet to see what it’s supposed to mean. Would not recommend.
I try and see the TC Ballet at least twice a year, with at least one Nutcracker performance. Every time I go I’m always filled with happiness and a little bit of nostalgia. You can tell all involved are truly passionate and I respect the hard work they put in. One of my personal favorite things to experience at the ballet is all of the children twirling around during intermission. Truly inspiring, you never know which child will grow up to be a ballerina themselves.
This ballet is one of the best. The professional company paired with local young dancers makes it extra special.
The show includes the traditional nutcracker story, and the most amazing dances showcasing the talented ballet dancers.
The evening was broken up into two parts. A series of dances with their own stories, then the main show. I really liked the short dances as they expanded my mind on what is meant by ‘ballet’ and its power to tell stories. The main show Dracula was amazing. The music and the performance completely drew me into the story. All in all a great evening that left my wife and I a lot to discuss afterwards.
It was a amazing show...super good...very clean place...handicap friendly
I sent my parents for a Christmas gift and they absolutely loved it. My mother went on and on about how wonderful it was!!
The twin cities ballet company does a great job making their ballets accessible to the general audience and bringing new life to, in my opinion, an old and snobbish art form. I have to admit though, I enjoyed the rock ballet, Pink Flyod's The Wall, better than I enjoyed Narnia. I enjoy that the company brings in so many children while still keeping it professional. The young dancers that had leading roles did an especially professional job. The costumes were interesting and inspiring. The music and lack of words was too classical and boring for me to rate top marks. Still, I attended with four children and they all sat and enjoyed the show... though also thought the music and lack of words made it less than ideal.
