Tut was a dream come true!

by HappyMomandDaughter on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

My Mother and I missed the one in the 80's. Now that I am older, I bought her a ticket and surprised her. She thought they would never be back and we had the best Mother and daughter time EVER!!! The exhibits were breath taking and I loved seeing my Mom so happy. We also bought out the store, and I am drinking from the coffee cup now! I can not say enough about it. Downtown Dallas was great, our hotel was a block away and the museum is worth getting there a day or two early. Thanks for bring Tutankhamun back!

    Tut was a disappointment

by gentma on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

For the amount of money and the hype behind the exhibit, it was a huge disappointment. We were ready to see items from Tut's tomb and were given room after room of things from other's tombs and very little from Tut. The exhibit should have been touted as ruins from Ancient Egypt. Not as Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of Pharoahs. Even my 9 year old asked "where's Tut's stuff?"

A Golden Exhibiton of a King

by Oragoose on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

This exhibition was extremely well done... The many galleries made it very simple to understand the time capsules that was being presented... Eventho the crowd was large you could still see the items and read the information and they were usually placed in an accessable area... I would go back and see it again

    King Tut Exhibit Is Fabulous!

by KingTutFans on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

My wife and I attended the Dallas event in May and it was worth the 6 hour drive from Arkansas to see it! This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the actual King Tut sarcophagus and other treasures that I have read about in books all my life! I highly recommend those interested in the Pharoahs and King Tut relics attend this event! Well worth the price paid and a real value!!

    Tut Exhibit very interesting

by Zienky on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I found the Tut Exhibit in Dallas to be most interesting and worthwhile. The layout of the exhibit was good and the artifacts were truly amazing. The write-ups and audio narratives were very informative. Would definitely recommend seeing.

Are you old enough to have seen the original Tut?

by FamilyVisitor on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

My kids loved this, the adults in our group didn't. If you are old enough to have seen the original visit of King Tut to the US, then this current exhibit is lacking. On the other hand, for kids to see a bit of history "live", especially the mysterious history of pharoahs, is worth a (discounted) ticket price.

    A major disappointment!!!!

by TutTut on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

Oh, do NOT waste your money on this traveling disaster!!! Well, I guess if you like artifacts of all kinds and are not especially interested in seeing the signature pieces of the King Tut find, it's ok. You wander through several exhibits of artifacts from the same rough era as Tut, but the famous death mask is not there. The "climax" is two rooms where you see some of the regalia that was buried with him and a few other knick-knacks, but that's it. No mask, no sarcophagus, nada. Total waste of money and time. You see more stuff online.

    King Tut exhibit memorable experience

by carlin360 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The only negative comment is that it was so crowded that it was almost difficult to enjoy. My fault however for waiting to the day before it closed to attend. I would recommend to anyone especially with children that the recorded tour device be purchased. Without these we would have truly missed the bulk of the exhibit information due to the crowds.

    Excellent display

by Ace0125 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The display pieces were magnificent! I was disappointed that the burial mask was not shown, but for good reason...it's being kept in Egypt and will not tour ever again. It's amazing that wood items are still intact after all of those years! The jewelry is to die for and still in pristine condition. Great show!

    Tut Exhibit Awesome!

by WTCDean on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

From the short introductory video throughout the entire exhibit, each piece tells a story. A story of a young boy who ruled for only a brief period. A story that occurs in one of the most amazing periods in the history of the world. You will come away knowing how he name is derived, and how he lived. If you get a chance...go see it!

    Only King Tut

by austinprof on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

Only King Tut's stuff could make me endure Dallas traffic. It was crowded but they did a great job managing the flow. Like hot, stuffy, boring while waiting. We stayed at a nearby hotel to eliminate traffic hassle and just walked to museum. Best decision we made about the trip! We stayed and looked at the whole museum after Tut-very enjoyable.

    very disappointing

by dperk on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I was expecting a little more to see. All the stuff that was there I have seen on the history channel, and seeing it in person felt the same. I was hoping to be shocked and have life changing moments to tell my grandkids! I guess I will have to plan a trip to egypt myself! I thought that they advertised well, but when I got there I was shocked at how the advertising didn't match the exhibit.

    King Tut

by Roger48 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

No King Tut just other artifacts. Waited in line too long even with assigned time for admission. Too expensive for what we saw.

    Amazing!

by RR11 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I was originally disappointed when I saw outside that the golden mask was not part of the exhibit. But after the first exhibit, it was clear this event was going to be amazing. The history of each piece, the attention to detail, and the overall glamour of the Gods is very evident. I'm glad I attended!

    Enjoyable

by Andy370 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

Exhibit was plenty large enough. Would have liked to see more interesting facts about the items. The descriptions seemed a little repetative. Would have also liked to have seen the gold mask that was on all the marketing items since that's what's most famous of all the items found.

    Not what I expected

by tfromtx on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

Not to be picky but there wasn't much Tut there really. Should have been more aptly named and advertised. It was extrememly crowded and it felt like we were herded room to room.

    King Tut Exhibit

by airlinejockey on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The King Tut exhibit was awesome. I was never interested in seeing the exhibit until I went to see it. EVERYTHING about it was incredible. The Dallas Museum of Art had the artifacts displayed for easy viewing and each exhibit had a short placard describing each artifact. Well worth the money.
