    Spectacular Exhibition

by abby2 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The artifacts in the King Tut exhibition were not only beautiful but also presented a good view into what life among the ancient Egyptians was like. I've been to many museums with wonderful Egyptian exhibitions, including the British Museum, and the Tut exhibition just rounded out the the experiences.

    Not satisfied

by amrich on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

Maybe my expectations were too high, but the King Tut exhibit left me wanting more. I have been very fortunate in that I have seen other "Egyptian Events" that have come to the area in years past, and i must say that this one was lacking...

Nothing Tut, Tut ... This exhibit was Golden!!!

by dhfjsf on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The King Tut Exhibit, "Tutankhamun & Golden Age of Pharaohs", shows a part of Egyptian life concealed from most for over 2000 years! It's a royal review of the ruling class world through the display of their art and artifacts, those things most important to them in transporting to the "next life". Like any great archaeologic exhibit, with little imagination required, one is taken back in time. You are the archeologist opening the tomb and seeing this treasure for the first time! You are the pharaoh surveying your wealth, enjoying your life and planning your death! It was an extraordinary age and, thanks to the DMA, among others, we had the pleasure of sharing it!

    Tutankhamun was awesome

by Pattycakes on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

This was one of the most awesome exhibits I have seen in my 60+ years. The content of the exhibit was unbelievable and the manner the event was organized was outstanding. I certainly would go again if it comes back into our area.

    Tutankhamun lacked luster

by rob223 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I had seen the King Tut exhibit in the late 70s in New Orleans, and I was absolutely amazed. This tour was a few artifacts, mostly photos and videos, and only a video rendition of the sarcophagi. Very disappointing!!

by cindylou on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

was very diappointed in the event. On all the commericials and brochures it showed the death mask and it was not even on the tour! Most of it was of other kings. was very dissappointed!

    Not what was expected.

by 1313 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The whole advertising for this event portrays a tour that will include the mummy or the golden mask. No such luck. The event has a great display of Tutankhamun's and his ancestor's history and artifacts. However, no mainevent items. Don't pay extra for the movie.

Tutankhamun & Golden Age of Pharaohs - King Tut Ex

by OKAMW on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

This exhibit was very nice but highly over-rated and over-priced. If you were to compare this to the Tutankhamun exhibit that came to the U.S. in the late 70's, this current version was absolutely no comparison. The Egyptian exhibit at the New York Metropolitan Museum, which is a permanent exhibit, is better. The tour was obviously overpaid by the sponsors and the prices passed on to the viewing public was totally out of line.

    crowded, poorly displayed, ordinary, boring

by AAAAAA on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

The curator just didn't deliver and the crowds were unmanageable, school kids ran around like crazy while their teachers hung out by a wall. I felt mislead by the 'Tut' title. They should have called it 'Tut-ish' or "We'll use Tut's name to get you here but really the show is just Egyptian Art and nothing all that great" Poorly done show, Dallas. zzzzz

    King Tuty

by Irving on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

well it was totally amazing. the items we viewed were unbelievable to be that old and look that great. everything was absolutely grand. the only negative thing I can think of, is there really needed to be more places for people to stop and rest. Not everyone can stand, walk and/or manuver with ease. I saw several elderly and over weight people having a ruff time.

    Wonderful Experience

by SweetNeelia on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

We enjoyed he Tutankhamun exhibit very much and were amazed at seeing items so old and well preserved. It was fascinating to imagine life in that historical period and to realize that we were seeing items actually used and worn by an ancient people!

    They Chose The Wrong City

by TheDarkAngel on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

the only reason i want to write a review is so i can complain. the event it self was rather spectacular, though i do not think it was worth the money spent and distance drove. there was too much hype for there have not been any mummies in the entire exhibit. though that sounds juvenile, i stand by it. the Dallas Museum of Art was not the place to have this. perhaps at a large convention center or such? the staff were horrbile! my mother has knee problems and she desperately wanted a wheelchair so she did not have to stand and walk for so long and the staff rudely and repeatedly told her none were immediately available and they were not about to go looking for one for her. one very kind security guard inside the exhibit went and got one for her after she stopped to rest - about half-way through. it was too crowded, so perhaps the tour should have stayed longer at each stop. and they should have limited the number of tickets sold each day. one couldnt get very close to the displays as many people clustered around each one, very slowly reading the text aloud. a tour guide would have been in order so everyone could get all the facts at once. other than my complaints about the venue and the layouts, the exhibit itself was educational and interesting. despite the lack of mummified remains and the fact that there was only one sarcophogus, the other items included were bright and beautiful and an excellent chioce to represent the feeling and the art of the time. i must admit i had fun. but i want my mummy.

    Tut was AMAZING!!!

by LillyBlue on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I have waited many years to see this exhibit and I can say that is was worth the wait. The way it was laid out and presenting was an incredible undertaking on both the museum, the curators and all those they were instrumental in this exhibit being presented in a wonderful timeline.

    King Tutankhamun

by vondo on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I loved every minute of it. It flowed nicely. The gold that they used during that time was really impressive.

    Tut was disappointing

by MsKit on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

When the exhibit started, a few people were taking pictures with their phones. The staff had began telling those people to erase the pics. Nobody in the room was able to hear the remainder of the presentation, due to the staff's raised voices. Once we left the presentation room, we were only able to see approximately 10 exhibits. There were so many people in the exhibit rooms that we couldn't see the exhibits, much less read what the exhibits were. We were lucky to see even one exhibit per room. The entire tour was supposed to last approximately 45 minutes per group. There seemed to be at least 3-4 groups in each exhibit room we went to. The crowd was ridiculous. I believe the museum staff could have done a much better job with crowd control. The price was definitely NOT worth what little we actually were able to see. I was definitely disappointed.

    loved king tut

by mrl1 on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

My wife and I went to king tut on the late night at the museum night. It was fantastic. I found the information about the artifacts fascinating. The videos were very interesting and well done. The star of the show was the artifacts, they were amazing! I would definately reccomend this exibit.

    One thing missing

by GTteacher on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

I thoroughly enjoyed the King Tut experience. However, I think patrons should have been given a program with some pictures and factual background to take home with them. I am a teacher, and we are going to study ancient Egypt this year, and I would have really appreciated something of that nature.

Tutankhamun & Golden Age of Pharaohs

by Espirit on 7/11/09Dallas Museum of Art - Dallas

Ok, but not enough large items, like before. The line just to get in was long even after pre-ordering tickets. Lots of restless children in line that should NOT have been there. Many under 5. It was very distracting to the exhibit and to adults who actually cared about it and knew what it was about.
