With a lineup of ten members and counting, New York funk orchestra Turkuaz is a force to behold on stage -- and that's before they've even started playing. Once the show begins, the band puts the full heft of their roster to incredible use, combining virtuosic musicianship, an arsenal of instruments, and wacky stagewear to deliver an off-the-wall concert experience that's as impressive for its sheer force as it is for the astonishing range of influences it displays. From the '80s-inspired bounce of "Coast to Coast" to the funky brass squelches and syncopated guitars of "Tired of Walking", Turkuaz take ticket buyers on a decade-spanning musical ride that keeps them moving and shaking till the very last note.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Turkuaz formed in Brooklyn in the late '00s and quickly took the NYC underground scene by storm with their everything-but-the-kitchen-sink funk sound and raucous live shows. After spending several years building a devoted fanbase with extensive regional touring, the band released their 2011 debut album Zerbert, a sizzling slice of eclectic tunes that took its cue from funk legends like Sly & The Family Stone and Parliament. To support the release they piled in a 15-person bus and set out on tour, shaking the walls at venues and festivals throughout the country. Several live albums and a covers album followed in 2012 and 2013, and in 2014 the band dropped their proper sophomore album Future 86. The record perfectly fused their disparate influences, combining funk, soul, R&B, and Latin elements to achieve a seriously party-worthy record. A legendary live act known for their energy, musical prowess, and sheer size, Turkuaz continue to let it all hang out with encore-worthy performances on tour.
