Trans-Siberian Orchestra On Tour
The holidays rock a whole lot harder than they ever have thanks to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. By infusing seasonal classics with rock flamboyance, a symphonic sense of scope, and an eye-popping visual presentation complete with lasers and pyrotechnics, what began as a side project for a veteran group of American hard rockers has grown into one of today's top-selling acts, with over 10 million concert tickets sold since 1999.
Now, to celebrate the band's 20th year on the road, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is mounting an all-new production of the show that first turned them into an arena-rock phenomenon. First performed in 1999 and recorded for a TV special – which became just as much of a holiday staple as ‘The Sound of Music' – ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve' was conceived by Paul O'Neill, TSO's original mastermind. A veteran producer for acts like Aerosmith and Savatage, O'Neill was inspired by the rock operas of The Who and the grandly theatrical concerts of Pink Floyd to create something that was even more spectacular. Together with Savatage members Jon Oliva, Bob Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli, O'Neill developed a unique project that married the spirit of the season with all the exhilarating sounds, operatic grandeur, and visual bravura that fans had come to expect of rock gods. After the massive success of TSO's first two albums, ‘Christmas Eve and Other Stories' and ‘The Christmas Attic,' O'Neill and his team took it on the road (and TV screens) with similarly blockbuster results.
Though TSO's repertoire would extend far beyond holiday songs to encompass the greats of classical music on ‘Beethoven's Last Night' and O'Neill's own original rock operas like ‘Night Castle,' their thrilling and highly singular take on seasonal music remains their trademark. Tragically, O'Neill's passing in 2017 robbed the music world of a true visionary. But his team of friends and collaborators in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra honor his legacy with a new production of ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Past' that both preserves and revitalizes a landmark merger of music, theatrics, storytelling, and seasonal cheer that yielded an international phenomenon.
As stated in the title TSO puts on an excellent show every year!
Hard to distinguish what was being announced, muffled, could not understand names of the musicians when announced. Light show was very good.
The first half of the show was all I had hoped for- the music, the lights, the Christmasy atmosphere. Wish I'd left after that. The second half was like being at a heavy metal concert, and the atmosphere was very dark and heavy. It was our first time going to TSO, and it will be our last.
I would strongly recommend seeing Trans-Siberian Orchastra to others
They never disappoint!!! Can't wait for next year!!
Went to the Grand Rapids 3pm show with my wife and son on 12/26/23. We had such a great experience for the 2+ hours that TSO put on. The piano, guitars and drumming was spectacular and so was the vocals of the 5 different featured singers. 10 out of 10. Hope to see them again.
This is a fantastic show and we highly recommend it! Awesome combination of music, story telling and theater production! Even our 2 teen sons enjoyed it! We will go again!
This is the fifth my fifth year of going to TOS concerts for me. As usual the concert was fabulous. However, there's one area of concern that needs to be addressed. I always get floor seats because I want the sound of being near the mixer And I usually get seats next to the aisle. In previous years I have never encountered as much walking in the aisles during the concert as I have this year. It was a constant flow of traffic during the entire concert! People need to be told to come on time, get in your seats and stay there. It is so rude that people walking up and down the aisles where you're trying to see and they're constantly blocking your vision or even your ability to take a quick snapshot. I get that some people might have to use the restroom or something, but it shouldn't result in a constant flow of traffic. People should also try to duck and move quickly rather than staying in your constant line of sight. My seat cost over $130.00. I didn't pay that to see your head moving up and down the aisle blocking my vision to the stage. Have some manners people! Maybe there's a statement that can be given when people purchase these tickets that they should try to be on time and remain in their seats as much as possible.
I try to go anytime when the tso is in town. Great performance, amazing show!
I took my son, for the first time, and he wants to see it again. He was overwhelmed at all of the talent.
Haven’t seen a show since I was preteen and it was still a fantastic performance that keeps you in the edge of your seat. The music talent is still phenomenal and the special effects that add flare to the performance are still very breathtaking and very impressive. Very pleased with the performance and will definitely be back again!
The music and light show were amazing as always. Also love the fact that they give back to the local community as well as provide opportunities for local musicians!
This was the best show I have seen in years! The music, singers, light show, It's one of a kind of magic!! They even get out among the audience and make you feel like your part of the show! First time to go to one of there concerts and I was blown away! Can't wait to see another show in the future!
This was my first TSO concert and wasn’t sure what to expect. It was much more than I imagined. Will definitely go again.
First time going was last year, absolutely blew my mind. The show this year was just as good and I loved every minute of it. Would recommend this show to everyone, good see it!!!
Every year the show is always better always amazed
TSO show was amazing as usual but the arena didn't make sure the bathrooms had enough supplies (soap, toilet paper) after the first show.
Lots of music and singing and the light and laser show spectacular!over two hours + graphics really good.graphics and music from the 1999 video were especially nice to see. (Could have had more shirts to sell)And more people to sell them THANKS SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!! BJB
New set stuff, snow globe and soooo many lasers!! It was amazing… 8th and BEST show ever for me!
Our overall experience with the concert was incredible. This was the first time we could ever view the concert in person. Most of our experiences With the trans-Siberian Orchestra are based on video recordings, and we have always wanted to see the group live. The ease at which we could acquire our tickets was second to none. This was one of our best experiences!
