Toronto Maple Leafs History

The Toronto Maple Leafs have 13 Stanley Cup Championships and six division championships, with more than 60 former players, coaches and executives in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Maple Leafs were one of the NHL's founding teams in 1917. They originally were known as the Arenas and then the St. Patricks before taking their current name in 1927 after Conn Smythe bought the franchise.

The team won two Stanley Cup Championships in the NHL's first five years and returned to the finals in 1932 behind the "Kid Line" of eventual Hall of Famers Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau, and Busher Jackson. In 1942, they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to win the first of five Stanley Cup Championships under coach Hap Day. The addition the following year of center Ted Kennedy helped the Leafs maintain their dominance, and resulted in another title in 1951.

The Leafs won three Stanley Cup Championships in a row starting in 1962, and another in the 1966-1967 season, thanks to a roster brimming with players who would end up in the Hall of Fame: George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Bob Pulford, and Frank Mahovlich.

The team returned to the conference finals in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994, then again in 1998-1999 — the latter trip powered by eventual franchise scoring leader Mats Sundin. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made the Playoffs a total of 72 times to date.

Air Canada Centre is a very nice venue for hockey. I am amazed at how easily I can walk in and get up to the 300 level. I had a good view of the game from my seats.

    Great Event

by WinniJets on 2/8/12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

As a visitor to Canada it was a great experience to watch a home game of the Leafs. Great staff at the ACC, great audience and even greater venue. If given the chance, I would come back for sure.

    Amazing game!

by Nathy3 on 1/12/12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Bought the second cheapest tickets (70 CA$) and even though I was seated high (section 313), I could see the whole rink and was less far than I imagined. The crowd was quite cheerful too!

    Detroit fans GO HOME !!!

by leaffanforlife on 1/9/12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The Leafs did a good job of keeping the Wings to the outside with most of their shots. Even though Detroit had a lot more shots on net than the Leafs, both teams had the same number of actual scoring chances. The Leafs were very poised in preventing the Red Wings from getting the go-ahead goal and when the Leafs got their 4th goal, they did a great job of shutting down the Wings after that. One final thought -- I didn't mind the Red Wing fans who were from Detroit, but the guy sitting beside me with the Raptor hat on who was cheering for the Wings really bugged me. He should have had a Pistons hat on if he is a Detroit fan -- Raptor fans only cheer for the Leafs !!!

I bought the ticket but was unable to attend. I could not sell the ticket so I'm out the money.

TML Fan Night was kind of a let down

by kitkat2069 on 12/22/11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

We live a couple of hours away from Toronto and were lucky enough to win free tickets to this event. We expected a good couple of hours of entertainment and were very disappointed that the whole event was done in an hour. It was a long drive, there and back for the sake of an hour. The blue & white game itself was only 15 minutes. Good thing the tickets were free.

    Leafs/Devils game at ACC amazing

by sdtryjdgc on 12/8/11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Not only was the clean, easily navigating city of Toronto an exciting location to visit, the Leafs fans are competitive in nature but very friendly towards visiting fans. Not to mention the sports bar across from the ACC is one of the best I have ever been to.

    Jets back in town !

by leaffanforlife on 10/22/11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

It was great to see the Winnipeg Jets back in the NHL as the 7th Canadian team. Even though they will eventually be in the Western Conference, when they come to town it will be like when Edm, Calg, & Vanc are here --- great Canadian hockey !!!

    great arena

by samiem on 10/19/11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

First time to an NHL game and to the ACC. Didn't think I'd have that much fun, or be able to see that well. We sat in the nosebleeds but I must say we were able to catch all the action. Beer was quite expensive, as expected, 15 bucks and the bartender gave me the wrong beer. Darcy Tucker also walked right by me at the bar. All in all a great experience. Can't wait to go to another game. The only thing that would have made it better was a win by the leafs, but we're used to seeing them lose.

Playoff atmosphere at the ACC !!

by leaffanforlife on 3/31/11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The game was great -- the crowd was loud -- the Leafs scored early -- Phaneuf, Schenn, Reimer & Kadri played great -- AND THE LEAFS WON AGAIN !!! The atmosphere was great. This is our playoffs.

    Great atmosphere!

by bml1981 on 3/21/11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I have always wanted to see a hockey game in Canada (and although the game was not close) the atmosphere was great and if I am ever in Toronto again, will most certainly try and catch a Leafs game. Great view from high up as well.

    Seating

by hockeyfannomore on 12/13/10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Section 317, as well 3 other sections, cannot even see the whole ice rink. Where I was, last seat up against a wall, I could only see 3/4 of the rink and only one net. Who designed this place? I've never been in a hockey stadium where you couldn't see the whole rink from any seat, no matter how high up you were! Simply terrible! Won't waste my time and money making that trip ever again! These seats should be free!

    Leafs played bad

by Jamer on 12/6/10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Worst effort of the season. The leafs played terrible, and put in a crap effort.

    Leafs suck

by leaffanforlife on 11/4/10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The Leafs played an awful game. While they finally scored after more than 8 periods of not being able to score any goals at all, they still played poorly. Both power play and penalty killing needs to improve a great deal.

by MapleLeafsFan on 10/20/10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Incredible game for my first one. It was awesome even though Leafs didnt have a win. The seats were incredible, had a great view of the whole rink. Would recommend it to everyone. Well worth the money.
