  • Tori Amos- always incredible

    by carlaxe on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

other than the fact that the theater does not accommodate Bass Guitar acoustics very well, under the eve of the balcony, the show was fantastic. I especially loved the fact that Tori played lots of newer material this time around.

  • Tori is the BOMB!!!

    by Emmajune on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second Tori concert and she just keeps getting better. She is one of the few artists that I have seen that sounds just as good if not better than her cds. I would see her again and again. She did 3 encores with 2 songs for each encore. It was a solid 2 hours of music.

  • The best Tori Amos concert I've ever been to!

by Musgravewood on 7/14/09WaMu Theater - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

This was my third time seeing Tori in concert, and I brought with me some friends who are also fans as well as some friends who were only vaguely familiar with her music. All of us were blown away. She played a ton of older music and not as much off the new album, which surprised me, but I thought it was fantastic nonetheless. In fact, I was excited to be able to listen in concert to some of the songs that I had never heard live before, because I had missed those tours. Tori gained 2 brand new fans out of my groups that night, both of my friends who didn't know much of her music said that she was absolutely amazing, and put on an incredibly entertaining presentation. They were also very impressed with her piano and harpsichord skills. Tori just gets better and better!

  • Tori great but.

by iprrly on 7/14/09Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

The drums were too loud and almost over powering at parts. Tori Was wonderful and lively as always. Her voiced seemed a bit strained but forgivable/withing tolerance for still sounding like a goddess. Her stage show/performance is amazing and I would pay to see her every weekend if it was possible.

  • Tori Amos at Paramount in Oakland

    by cardslam on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Superb performer. Show was a full 2 hours in length with a great mix of old and new songs. There is no one who can play multiple keyboards like her.

  • Tori is amazing!

This was my first Tori Amos concert. I knew she would put on a great show!

  • The lovely and tantalizing Tori

An extraordinary musician of many facets, Tori took my breath away.

  • Tori, my red-headed goddess

    by SinfulDirtyGirrl on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Gorgeous as always, passionate piano rocking (yeah, it exists!), that incredible voice... what a night. I especially liked how she gave a shout-out to the Paramount (she's played here many times), and her talking about Tash, and she played (of all things!) Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time," which was hilarious, and Tori's sultry voice put Britney's to shame. And I about died when she ended her show with "Tear in Your Hand." One of my all-time faves. Never heard it live before. Breathtaking. Wish I could go to the San Jose show tonight!

  • Dumbass--you missed the magic!

    by MrSunshine on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I'm really a Tom Petty fan. He's reigning king of Rock n' Roll, and his concerts are not to be missed. I don't listen to Tori music much, but her performances make even the the best rock concerts seem (forgive me) RETARDED! Her dark genius shines brilliantly as she fills the hall with her spellbindingly beautiful voice. I used to think she played one piano with her right while the left was doing its thing to her side, but she actually has one hand fully BEHIND her! Right after starting, she improvised a song about the sound tech who was trying to sneak-change one of her mic packs--and wasted no time in finding deeper meaning in what would have been a glitch for any other concert. UNREAL. And I know I was tripping cuz I could swear I heard her cover Brittney Spears. If you were there, you know words can't do justice to the magic. If you've never seen Tori Amos work her magic, you MUST, but be warned she will wreck other concerts for you like a girlfriend who's out of your league will ruin you for girls you deserve. Oh, it was my birthday too.

  • Tori rocked once again!

The Paramount in Oakland, California, was again rocked by Tori to her adoring fans there!!

  • Tori is Sinfully Amazing!

    by Bliss76 on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I went to the Tori Amos show last night at the Oakland Paramount. This is my third time seeing Tori and eacha nd every time I say "There is NO WAY to top the last show", she somehow still pulls it off. I always leave hyped and excited and "floating" from what I can best descriibe as her soul healing magic she does when she performs. Go see her, especially if you have not ever before. You will understand what I mean. I can not describe her in words but the chills flow out while you are there because she is beyond AMAZING. Aside all that, the lighting and everything is so well matched to each song and its awesome. Tori has a great personality, she is engaging and has always made each show different and nothing less than outstanding. I'm seeing her again tonight in San Jose and I am estatic to feel it all over again. Thank you Tori!!!! Much Tori Love! -Bliss76

  • Tori Amos ... great talent in a great venue

    by Garpgump on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Tori played to a packed house and completely rocked the joint. The depth and texture of the music she, John Evans, and Matt Chamberlain were able able to produce as a trio was astonishing ... and her vocals were spot-on. They played a very satisfying length of time, and she covered a number of older tunes combined with my favorite tracks from the new album. She definitely still has it! (BTW, the opening band was quite good, although their set seemed somewhat short).

  • Tori Rocked - As ALWAYS!

    by Tamish on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Tori is always amazing and she didn't disappoint last night. Excellent show!!

  • Tori Amos Concert at Paramount Theatre

    by Wolfe on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

This is the first time I've gotten to see Tori Amos though I've been a fan for decades and it was fantastic that the venue was at the Paramount Theatre. I know she loves the Art Deco theatre, it's so beautiful, I love it too!! Her performance was AWESOME, and the light presentation was very creative and emotionally styled to what song she was singing at the time, so great job there. The only constructive criticism I have is that I really couldn't hear her voice at the lower tones, the deeper background sounds totally drowned her out. She has such a magical melodious and crisp voice that I wanted to hear her entire range and maybe because of the theatre's acoustical limitations that can't be remedied but no matter what - she was superb!! Love her green fringed dress with glowing purple tights and jewel toned red hair. I wish I could have seen her up close, she is stunning!! Thanks Tori & crew!!!

  • Amazing!

    by jes805 on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Tori is such a talented musician and creative artist! She puts 100% into her shows and her music...Seeing Tori live is definitely an amazing experience!

  • tori still has it!

    by golgo1313 on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

although i'm not a big fan of her latest 2 album efforts, i was quite impressed with her concert. she still has it. this was my first tori experience and i'm glad i did not miss it. just one slight annoyance was the lighting... they seemed to have not tested how it would be on the balcony section. there were many moments where all of up here were blinded. ouch!

  • tori still rocks

    by rosa1 on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

I think I would have given the review 3 1/2 stars. She rocks the house and is always putting on a great show. I think however this time was a little slow in the middle and could have brought a little more of her old stuff in. I still will go see her every time she comes to town.

  • otherworldly

    by delmont on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

She's gifted, a compelling talent. Plays and sings beautifully, sensually. A very physical, lots-of-energy performance.

  • great performance by Tori Amos

    by stratsi on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

Tori was a solid live performer, as always. I liked the balance between older and newer material (although I always wish for more '90s songs in her concerts!). The Brittney Spears cover was sooo much better than the original, and an unexpected number in the set!

  • Tori gives the best show in the industry!!!

    by Chanie on 7/14/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I have had the pleasure of seeing several Tori Amos shows but am always more impressed with every concert! Tori has a way of being simply unforgettable as the consummate performer. The audience, including myself, was screaming and cheering for yet a fourth encore. I can't forget Tori's comedic and yet poignant choice to cover Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time." Funny how such a pop-lite song became interesting and intelligent in the hands of a seasoned and infinitely talented musician. I anxiously await the next Tori show... If you are a true Torihead, the Lizard Lounge show will keep you craving more Tori!
