  • Amazing!!

by MOHOLIC1 on 7/16/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

Every time I see Tori live I have a religious experience. Another amazing show. Everyone should experience at least 1 Tori Amos show in their lifetime!

  • excellent show!

by boris23 on 7/16/09Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Tori is a masterful performer! Great show. Two hours -- no breaks. She introduced a lot of music from her new CD, but also played some of her old songs. Wished she would have played less "cover-blends" and more songs from previous albums, esp. Scarlet's Walk.

  • Cool On Your Tour

    by babymonkey on 7/16/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I was utterly surprised with the Cool On Your Island performance. I used to love her live version until circa 2005. She had stopped wailing "WAIT" for the last few years (possibly to save her voice), which was my favorite part of the performance. But, Ms. Amos blasted that theatre with that high "WAIT" part, causing me to well up with tears. I've been to the Oakland and San Jose concerts so far, and I am happy to say that Tori has sounded better than she has in years (IMO).

  • TORI ROCKS!!!!

This is an amazing artist. Life-altering! Good see her any chance you get! There is no one with a sound like her; Tori is truly original.

  • woderful evening

    by dolphind on 7/15/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

She put on an amazing show. Her cover of "Hit me baby one more time..." was priceless. I enjoyed every second of it.

  • Delightful; not very Exciting

by Meliz on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 4 out of 5

First time I watched her show. Discovered she's such a cute little girl! ANd Lizard Lounge a very cute theme. Hope she'd have talked more.... we were amazed how she did not need to rest at all. Her voice from a live concert is indeed, amazing; versatile, energetic, powerful and sweet. Beutiful changing stage backgrorund to go with the show. Overall enjoyable, but I had imagined her concert to be more varied, more exciting and not just ... "plain concert." I hope more of her energy and personality was revealed because I didn't know her that well yet! Hoping for a funner concert!

  • TORI ROCKS!!!!!

    by daziemoo on 7/15/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Tori's shows are always worth it. She puts so much of herself into the performance, and they are such passionate performances, I can't see how she could ever put on a bad show. She even improvised a song while they replaced the battery pack on her ear piece. That was a first for me. This is the fifth time I've seen Tori and I'll continue to see her as often as possible. I don't believe her shows will ever disappoint me. :) :) :)

  • Tori in fine form...

    by Spim on 7/15/09Paramount Theatre-Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Since Tori was just starting out on her tour, I really had no clue what to expect. Her first song, Give, was quite amazing, as she played 4 different keyboards. Cornflake Girl sounded as good as usual, and her singing was very on-key. There were a lot of songs I expected to hear, and others she completely re-invented, but in a fabulous way. The show was very high energy, and she chatted with the audience more than she usually seems to during a show. There were also 2 encores, so there were many great things to hear.

  • Best female composer that ever lived?

by stagemaster on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

Tori Amos remains the only female performer in her class. Her show on Tuesday evening fully displayed her genius as she put on a non stop musical exhibition of remarkable keyboard and vocal work. I can't recall hearing a single off key lyric which can be attributed to her virtuosity and not "auto tune" which so many performers are resorting to these days. She doesn't use auto tune, she doesn't need it. Every song had a new arrangement with enough resemblence to the original to make them recognizable, but with enough new musicality to keep you on the edge of your seat. She changed the time signatures, the tempo, the intros, etc.... all for the better. And then there was her appearance. Tori Amos is just flat out sexy. She wore a bright yellow and green ensemble with tights/pants that were nearly skin tight. She is not shy about using her body to tease her audience and in some light, it looked like she was wearing nothing below the waist. It was impossible to take your eye off her and long straight red hair that shimmered under the stage lights. She was a woman of few words during this show. She remarked about having a great day in San Jose, mentioned King Tut, and introduced the band. The rest was all hardcore Tori Amos in one of the most powerful two hours of music I have ever heard. Her songs were timeless. They could have been written 300 years ago. They would have sounded great then, and they'll sound great 300 years into the future. It's hard not to love this woman.

  • Tori in SJ

by Jarronda on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 4 out of 5

As always, Tori brought herself to the stage and did her thing. I'm not sure if it was due to my seat location, but i thought the audio levels were off all night.

  • Tori Amos

by DjCja on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

I took my girlfriend to see Tori and did not know what to expect as I am not a Tori fan. Overall I thought it was a great performance and would recommend it to anyone. I am from Sacramento and have never been to the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, but I will look for future concerts there as the acoustics were clear and the overall set up was very appealing.

  • Tori blew our minds, like we knew she would

by YellowShirt on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

Tori started out Fairy Princess-y, with light, etheral takes on Give, Crucify and a few others. When she hit Starling though, the show totally transformed - you could tell she was throwing everything into this song and it was an incredible passionate performance. After that she was in a power zone, particularly with Strong Black Vine, and the encore performances for Big Wheel and Tombigbee. We even got an improv hit when the keyboard fritzed and Pierre had to dash on stage and save the day -- his Posse Bonus was a quick ditty devoted to him.

  • Tori is the bee's knee's

by ToriFan on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan since her first album, but this was the first time I saw her in concert. She was amazing... excellent performance, fun loving with audience (although she could have talked a little more about the songs, that's always nice), talented. The set was great. Good use of lights and minimal stage without being flashy or over the top. It's about the music and I love how she presented it. Her overall theme was presented very well to tie in with the current CD. Loved it! Not crazy about the lights that shoot into the audience. They go right in your eyes and make it hard to see sometimes.

  • Tori Amos: very artistic and well

by Veli on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 4 out of 5

Tori Amos in San Jose was very artistic. The concert started exactly nine o'clock. Tori Amos arrived in yellow and green costume. All the keyboards were placed in the middle of the stage. The bass player on the left and drummer on right. The sound was incredible good, and also the lightning! The biggest hit "Cornflake girl" was heard in the beginning.

  • Tori = awesome

Tori amos was amazing. Sounded awesome in the performing arts center, and the lighting was spectacular

  • Tori, Tori, Tori!!!!!!!

by PDXChick on 7/15/09Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Tori held those of us in the audience in the palm of her hand, as usual. She is quite professional, and I could not believe how long she commanded the stage. She was very strong. I take my friends to see her when her show comes around, and I can't wait to see her again.

  • Tori was great- as usual

by KristenvdM on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

  • First time I saw Tori Amos in concert!

by hcpayne on 7/15/09San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing concert! The concert hall was a little smaller than I usually see, but that only added to the intimacy of the setting. She has a beautiful loving energy, and I would highly suggest you see her in concert if you haven't already!

  • Tori was amazing!!!

This show was so awesome... I have been a fan or Tori for years but have never seen her live. I would absolutely see her again! Her talent is jaw dropping!

  • Great voice still!!

I saw Tori about 15 years ago, and can't believe how amazing she still is. Great voice, great energy, amazing show. She played a really nice mix of older and newer stuff, which the crowd loved!
