We got to experience Tori play at the Orpheum, and it was beautiful! Every time I have the privilege of watching her, she never ceases to amaze me. Thank you Tori (and musicians/crew) for coming back to LA!
This was my first time Tori Amos Concert. I have been a fan for years. Allow me to explain; I first met Tori while tending bar at the Bonaventure Hotel, Los Angeles, California during the mid-80s. And because she was our happy hour entertainment, I had the honor of sitting next to her on her piano bench and singing with her every week as she played songs she thought I might know to sing. Her generosity as a performer is only outmatched by her genius in music. Since this was my first time being in the audience, I was impressed by the love and loyalty of her fans witnessed by this objective observer. I didn't know which was the more captivating; her fans, or Tori, herself!
First of all, I'm a brazen raisin girl so lets just get that bias out of the way. I had the good fortune to be able to book a seat at the LA2 show before it sold out, but, I wasn't 100% percent certain I had done it right due to an email delay witht the ticket communication and that's when I saw an LA3 show had been added and so I just grabbed a seat for that night just in case I hadn't done my ticket purchase right the first time. It all shook out in the wash and I'm overjoyed I was able to attend the LA2 night as it was a pretty ultimate setlist. When she launched into Me & a Gun I was held by the jugular. LA3 was delightful and Tori was clearly having fun and really seemed to revel in her playing, but I'll forever after shuffle the order in my recollection as it was a step down when it came to the flow of pathos in the audience. LA3 seemed to have more casual fans who were there to hear one or two numbers (cornflake girl, precious things) which did turn up in the end so it was a terrific setlist both nights and I really regret that I missed the LA1 show.
A non-stop ride full of new and classic song performed only as she can. Absolutely brilliant.
So great to see Tori again! Really puts on a great show with a mix from throughout the years!
Got to go for two nights. Both were spectacular and completely different. The playlist, the lighting design, the only thing the same was the stunning performances both by Ms. Amos and her stunning backup. My only regret is that I couldn't be there on the third and final night. Thank you Tori!
Perfect experience!!! Tori never fails to disappoint!! She was amazing!! This was my first Orpheum experience as a wheelie, and met me say, the security and ushers helped put me at ease. I have so much gratitude for them for helping my experience flow flawlessly! Thank you, Orpheum!
Tori and her band played great! But, She needs to play more of the older songs, because concerts are more fun when the audience can join in signing along. Silent All These Years should always be played.
I’ve been to numerous Tori shows over the last 30 years. This show was my least favorite. Sound quality was terrible. Hard to hear lyrics and overall vibe of the show was “off.” Maybe she’s working too hard and was burned out?
Tori sounded amazing. Playing two pianos at once! Are you kidding me!? Mad skills!
This was such a great show. Tori played songs across her entire catalog and interacted with the crowd perfectly (like she usually does). My first Tori concert was in 1998 when she was touring The Choirgirl Hotel album. She was an amazing performer then and continues to be one now. I was going to try and she her again in LA, but I think I'll wait to see her play in Germany next year.
This was my first time seeing Tori Amos live. She and her fellow musicians gave an absolutely amazing performance and the show was absolutely electric! I'll be on the lookout for future tours from her and will pounce on tickets. Well worth the money! My rating for her performance is easily 5 stars. The Balboa Theatre balcony: I lowered my rating exclusively due to the balcony seats not having any leg room. The view of the stage from the balcony seats was fine, but the lack of leg room is a real problem. I'm 6'1" tall and my legs were really uncomfortable sitting through the latter half of the performance. In the future, I will only buy seats in a lower section and would pass on ever buying balcony seats at this venue ever again.
Wonderful show! Great band and played all my favorite songs
She will forever and always be the best live performer and musician in musical history. Period.
Tori & her band are so talented and I was glad they played the very topical song "Russia".
Tori Amos has been such a special influence in my life. She has been there for me through everything as an inspiration to seek my own personal authenticity. Seeing her live with her wonderful childlike warmth and joy reminds me it’s okay to be me. It’s okay to be vulnerable. It’s priceless to me. So I’m a nutshell, lol, it was a thumbs up.
Sound quality and arrangements were superb, artistic, beautiful…Tori is such a bright musician- so talented
I’ve seen Tori perform a number of times over the years. What I observed to be beautiful this time around was that she has landed in a resolution with some of her earlier songs. I suppose that is to be expected. But it was interesting to hear and see the performance evolve. Maybe some things that were previously painful have been integrated and there is now resolution. Evocative of my own memories from songs performed and recorded 20 plus years ago.
Tori is beyond breathtaking. I’m sad I waited so long in life to see her in concert. I really loved her new material and her live versions of some treasured songs I grew up with. She has a great stage presence—- not super chatty but shows her personality as she plays. I would go to this concert again and again! Venue was also stunning.
