Tootsie is a Tony Award-winning stage production of director Sydney Pollack’s beloved 1982 comedy film. Like Pollack’s film, the musical revolves around a struggling soap actor who adopts a new identity as a woman to land more roles, while serving as a love letter to Broadway. Tootsie features a Tony-winning book by Robert Horn and a score by 2018 Tony winner David Yazbek (The Band’s Visit). The musical premiered in September 2018 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago before premiering on Broadway in April 2019. Tootsie is now touring across North America, with a regional premiere at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine. The cast has included Drew Becker as Michael Dorsey and Dorothy Michaels, Ashley Alexandra as Julie Nichols, Payton Reilly as Sandy Lester, Lukas James Miller as Max Von Horn, Jared David Michael Grant as Jeff Slater, Kathy Halenda as Rita Marshall, Steve Brustien as Stan Fields and Adam du Plessis as Ron Carlisle.

Perfectly hysterical! This show is fast paced and filled with humor. The comedic timing of the actors is absolutely flawless. Note, this production is very loosely based on the movie. More than enough similarities to keep the themes going, but if you are expecting a copycat of the movie, you won’t find what you are looking for…but you will probably find something better. I’m going to see the show a second time!

From the time we got dropped off to the last curtain closing so worth seeing Tootsie ... Way better than I ever imagined it to be ... Great job Shea's!!!
The premise of the show is truly behind the times. The writing tried to reflect an update but failed. It is a concept that shouldn’t have made it to 2021. With that said, I thought the actors terrific. The writing was not only ridiculous but also outdated, so the actor did a nice job despite the writing.
This is an amazing show done by some very talented and funny actors and actresses. This is not your old Tootsie.....the show has been updated and is a "must see"!! Dont miss this!! Michael Dorsey/ Dorothy is played by Drew Becker and he does an amazing job. This show & Drew will be Tony award winners!
My wife & I missed the October 10th show due to illness. The Shea's Box office graciously gave us tickets for the October 12th show. We were indeed grateful because the show was excellent.
