    Energetic Acoustic - GREAT show!

by Kaydeesky on 12/8/12Uptown Theater - Napa

The Uptown Theater in Napa is such an awesome venue (854 seats) - and while it was by no means a full house for the show - Toots and the Maytals played it like it was - interacted with the audience, gave soooo much to all the songs - 'Nuff Love and Respect all the way around - totally high energy for an acoustic show... the female backup singers were awesome - the guest that came up and rocked Monkey Man with him was off the hook. Hard to believe Toots is almost 67 - most 30 year olds don't have that much energy - the passion in the music was so strong. My only issue was some of the young audience members who need to learn to respect the artist and really listen... I had to shush the vapid twenty-somethings behind me several times...

    Absolutely Awesome!

by raechell on 11/4/12Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara Falls

The venue was small and personal, which we loved. Toots was awesome -- hilarious commentary, fantastic music, and he played for almost two hours. It was an overall great experience!

Although I enjoyed last year much better because Ziggy performed longer, it was still a great concert! Definitely recommend it everyone!

    Big Disappointment

by Anonymous on 7/29/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I paid to see Maxi Priest and he no showed and they had no one to replace him. Since we had one less artist to see you would think they would have a replacement or Ziggy could have played a longer set. Neither happened. Had I known Maxi was not going to show I would have not paid to see the rest of the lineup. A Big Disappointment!!

I was very disappointed that Maxi Priest just didn't show up! I paid for that too. We should receive refunds.

Tuff Gong, Ziggy Marley, and friends

    by gs1949 on 7/19/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I usually love this concert at the Hollywood Bowl.... I saw Toots 2 years ago, and he rocked the house.... Maybe I was sitting too far back... this time I had the more inexpensive seats... Everyone around us were talking soooo loud during the songs, you couldn't hear them sing... Also the whole stage presence seem to lack the usual luster... The other thing I didn't care for, was how the big screen was edited... There were no full band shots, only zoom in for single musician or singers..... so you had to settle for what they wanted you to see on the big screen, rather then the whole band, and that was extremely disappointing. Sorry, I have seen better Reggae concerts at the Hollywood Bowl...

    Always great seeing Ziggy...Toot's struggled.

    by WailerJ4 on 7/19/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

We are lifeline roots reggae fans...and Toots and the Maytals fans. Ziggy was a great host and played some good songs. But he also played several songs that must have been from his new album...and we didn't know any of them. Toots and the Maytals, who has always been absolutely amazing, was absolutely disappointing. He was mumbling quite a bit and was almost lifeless. We were so disappointed that we left after two of his songs. It broke our hearts to be disappointed this way.

    Where was Maxi????

    by Nancy9566 on 7/19/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Concert itself was great.... but sad that Maxi Priest wasn't there... and that ticketmaster didn't feel the need to send an alert out.... he was the main reason we bought tickets.... and were disappointed to get there and see he wasn't coming...

    Pissed!!!

by Bree04 on 7/19/12The Legends of Reggae - Hollywood

First of all when we arrived there was a very small sign that said Maxi Priest will not be performing due to a problem with his Visa. So you figured that we would just get more Ziggy? Ziggy performed but he was suppossed to perform in his own spot and also Maxi's spot...that didn't happen! It was bad enough to not have Maxi but then Ziggy didn't come out for the final performance sucked! Oh well I will still pay to see Ziggy but I was pretty disappointed!

    Jammin' with Ziggy

    by littlehazy12 on 7/18/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Hollywood Bowl is an unbelievable venue! It's gone through some renovations - mainly updating the restrooms and adding one of those "electronic walkways". The entertainment was amazing. Freddie M. and Toots were awesome. Maxi Priest, unfortunately, was not there due to being stuck in the UK. However, Ziggy came to the rescue and performed quite a bit of songs, including one from the great Bob Marley. He performed about 30-45 minutes, which was definitely a great surprise! This is definitely a recommended concert to attend every year!

The Legends Of Reggae Liven Up The Bowl

by Analinda on 7/18/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

My 14 year old and I attended this event, and we're truly amazed! Years ago, I saw Bob Marley and wanted to keep up the family tradition. Ziggy did not disappoint. In fact, He played an extra long set because Maxi Priest had to cancel due to visa problems in the UK. The entire audience was into his music and his message of peace. You could feel the positive vibe pulsing as if we were all transported to another level of consciousness. When Ziggy finished his set, Toots and the Maytals had an extremely hard act to follow. They did recapture the energy a couple of songs in, but Ziggy should have been the headliner act.

    Amazing Night!!

by Anonymous on 7/18/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Had a GREAT time! Loved everything about the concert. Singers did a great job keeping us entertained and dancing throughout the whole night! If only Maxi Priest had made it as well. Next time!!

Ziggy should have been the headliner

    by ReggaeDan4N on 7/18/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Let me start by saying I am the biggest reggae fan you will find. So, when I heard the legends were all playing together at the bowl I was thrilled. However, overall I was very disappointed in this concert. My disappointment started when I found out that Maxi Priest wasn’t going to play due to “Visa” issues. Next was when I discovered that Toots was going to headline instead of Ziggy. Don’t get me wrong, Toots has been one of the biggest stars of Reggae for decades, but if this performance was indicative of his current state, it’s time for him to retire. My disappointment in Toots started when he came out wearing a ridiculous outfit that resembled General Zod from Superman 2. Then throughout the entire performance he was holding the mic down by his belly button & we couldn’t hear a word he was singing. All we could hear was his back-up singers. I’m not sure if he’s just too old, or the tour is too long, but it was an extremely uninspired performance from Toots. Freddy McGregor was solid as usual, & Ziggy was great in his set-up role, but in my opinion ZIGGY is the headliner & Toots in the set-up act. I went to Ziggy at the bowl last year & it was great, this year not so much. I will have to see the line-up next year & decide if it’s worth going back.

    Disappointed Reggae Fan

    by opie09 on 7/18/12Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I look forward every summer to attend Reggae night at the Hollywood Bowl. I was disappointed this year, being that the show did not meet their expectations to “Legends of Reggae.” Ziggy Marley and his organization put this show together and have done a fabulous job in the past. Ziggy came out to perform and had the crowd standing up and dancing and feeling good. He left the stage too soon and welcomed Toot and the Maytals onto the stage. Which by the way brought the morale down. I felt like I was in Church at one point and was wondering where the heck did the roots of reggae music go. The crowd and I expected to see Ziggy come back and finish the concert but that was not the case. From a great opening to a very disappointed ending to a beautiful summer evening.
