The Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl is an annual college football game held in El Paso, Texas. Established in 1935, the first Sun Bowl was played between two Texas high school teams, but moved to a collegiate-level matchup the following year. The Sun Bowl is tied for the second-oldest active college football bowl game and has historically been played on or around New Year’s Eve. Hosted on the University of Texas at El Paso campus since 1938, the Sun Bowl switched to its current home at Sun Bowl Stadium when construction was completed in 1963. The Sun Bowl was initially home to the former Border Conference, but as of 2011, the two opponents are selected from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Pac-12 Conference. In 2025, the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl game will kick off on December 31 at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas.

The Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl has featured one opponent each from the ACC and Pac-12 Conference since 2011. Although 10 schools left the Pac-12 during the 2024 conference realignment, the departing teams will still be included in the Sun Bowl selection pool through 2025.
Great weather. The layout of the Sun Bowl and concessions creates a terrible traffic jam that brings out the worst in El Pasoans. People have to cut through concession lines to get from point A to point B. This creates tension etc. The sound quality of the Sun Bowl PA system is terrible and outdated. The stadium location is one of a kind.
This was a good experience coupled with an excellent football game. The venue is spectacular viewing from all angles, and relatively easy to navigate location wise. The only thing I would have liked would be more options at concessions, but that was not a major bother.

We had great seats, nice weather, and the locals were very friendly during our 4 day visit to El Paso. We did not see any of the issues sometimes highlighted in the news regarding the border, and we enjoyed the many attractions in town. There were fun restaurants, beautiful scenery, and it was easy to get around. I highly recommend the Sun Bowl and El Paso!

This was perhaps the best game ever, in the 89 year history of the Sun Bowl Game. Congratulations Pitt Panthers on the victory. UCLA Bruins fought hard, but came up just a little short.
The outcome of the game was awesome. The things I had bad experiences was not enough Pizza tents and the Souvenir shop didn’t seem they had a lot to offer.
The game gave us 2 great quality teams that put in a dog fight. The Sun Bowl is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the country. We all had a great time!
Getting to the venue was awful. They were unprepared to transport people. We arrived at 11:00 but missed the whole first quarter because the shuttle was almost non existent
Arguably one of best games played in the SunBowl in many years. I rank this game in history of SunBowl in the TOP 5 for sure and maybe in the TOP 3. Just a great game with two awesome teams.
Loved the whole atmosphere!! Stadium, pregame festivities and the game were all top notch. Enjoyed my first trip to the Sun Bowl and would love to come back in the future!!

It was my first time i attended a sun bowl game and it was a wonderful experience to see this two great teams competing to win the game, the crazy people from El Paso having fun. Etc. I hope next year, “God’s willing “ I’ll have the chance to go again.

The weather was perfect for football, good friends, good game, lots of energy - we will be going again next year! It was great to be able to see a half-time show, which is pre-empted on TV football. The Pitt band formed a fighter jet and had two fire extinguishers produce the exhaust for their rocket. I was with friends who had not been to the stadium before and they were impressed (we are all locals, El Paso and Las Cruces.) One person in our party discovered we were sitting by a former coworker from DC who was visiting family. Small world.
The Sun Bowl never disappoints. Everything about the lead up to the game, tailgating and the game itself was excellent. Disappointing however that the illegal alien influx in El Paso changed some of the dynamics of Sun Bowl week.
