Hailed as "one of the best acoustic guitarists in the world" by NPR's World Cafe, Tommy Emmanuel got his start at the age of six, when he first began touring his native Australia with his family's band. As a teenager, he earned a reputation as a highly sought after sideman and session player, and by his early twenties, Emmanuel was playing on chart-topping hits and performing with acts like Air Supply and Men at Work. Inspired in part by his hero, Chet Atkins (who would later become a friend, mentor, and collaborator), Emmanuel stepped out on his own as a solo artist in 1979, releasing the first in a string of acclaimed instrumental albums that would make him an unlikely celebrity in his home country and beyond. In the decades that followed, he would go on to headline everywhere from the Sydney Opera House to Carnegie Hall; tour with luminaries like Eric Clapton and John Denver; win a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement; perform for a televised audience of more than two billion at the Sydney Olympics; and collaborate with a who's who of fellow guitar greats, including Les Paul, Mark Knopfler, Joe Walsh, Richard Thompson, Jason Isbell, and Billy Strings.
Recorded in just four days, Emmanuel's latest album, Living In The Light, stands as the most daring--and most rewarding--collection in the globetrotting fingerpicker's remarkable catalog, fusing his pop, jazz, classical, and roots influences into a virtuosic masterwork as exhilarating as it is intimate.

Traffic was terrible... venue (Wilbur Theatre) very good... parking close by... Tommy Emmanuel was fantastic... great showman as well as being the best acoustic guitar player in the world. Don't miss him next time around!!
Tommy is a master player but even more a master performer. Great as always and his percussion is a fabulous complement to the guitar. Still, Over the Rainbow conquered all. He had a warmup act. It was too long and could have been better. They came back at the end and were much better with Tommy setting the pace. They failed to introduce themselves properly, which made it worse as a startup.
Tommy Emmanuel put on one of the most impressive shows I've ever seen. He did not disappoint but rather he exceeded my expectations. I hope he keeps it going as long as possible
The show was awesome, but Town Hall has to upgrade their seats. They are too narrow and falling apart
Absolutely jaw-dropping…amazing…and so much fun! Tommy is such a great entertainer…most enjoyable concert, possibly ever! Also, Town Hall is my most favorite venue: I have seen many concerts there. It’s not so big that you lose intimacy - I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house - and the acoustics are great…not to mention, it’s very conveniently located.
Tommy Emmanuel was great and the unexpected bonus of Larry Campbell as support made it even better
Tommy is extrodinary to see and hear. What a show! If you want to see what guitar virtuaousity is, this is the show to attend. If you enjoy musica at any level, this is the show to attend. If you have a love of the highest levels of mastery of an instrument, this is the show to attend.
Outstanding best describes the concert. Tommy was at his best, and the accompanists were excellent.
Awesome. A true virtuoso. A magician with a guitar. Hope he returns to the New York area.
The absolute best instrumental concert of all time!
Tommy never fails to impress. Always an enjoyable experience and always accompanied by similarly talented musicians who also love what they do. A true professional musician and an enthusiastic entertainer and an amazing human being. If you have never seen Tommy live - DO IT thanks Tony 😂😂
I have seen Tommy Emmanuel quite a few times and he is absolutely amazing. He never disappoints. Tommy Emmanuel is one of a kind. Fannntastic!
I introduce Tommy Emanuel to friends who haven't heard of him (given the level of his talent it is hard to believe there are people who haven't - I was one of them 5 years ago! ) is he is the greatest guitar player you have never heard of. His performance style is so incredible and so unique it is hard to describe. If you have an opportunity - don't miss out!
This the first Tommy Emmanuel concert my husband and I saw. He is an amazing guitarist and the concert was exceptional. Richard Smith was also great. They were both entertaining and we left satisfied. The only complaint I had was that the bathroom weren’t sanitary. Other than that, great show!
This was our second Tommy Emmanuel concert. We saw him in early 2020. He is an amazing guitarist and the concert was great. His guest, Richard Smith, was also amazing. They were both entertaining and it was a great evening.
BEST CONCERT EVER!!!! We have seen several other Tommy Emmanuel concerts; enjoyed them all tremendously! Such incredible talent! In addition, Richard Smith was absolutely fabulous!
Tommy Emmanuel is worth every cent the ticket cost. He is fun but more importantly he is a virtuoso. Simply amazing.
Richard Smith was the opener and he was fantastic. Anyone who appreciates guitar should go see Tommy put on a masterclass on how to dominate an acoustic guitar. His total command of the instrument is stunning. Though his playing is virtuostic, it's not all fancy tricks as he plays with great phrasing and musicality. Smiling the whole time. Richard joined him at the end for some duets. Chet Atkins proclaimed him a Certified Guitar Player. I proclaim him Certified Guitar Master.
Tommy Emanuel and Richard Smith are phenomenal. I had my 88 year old father with me. He has been a musician for most of his life. We both were awestruck by the performances of Tommy and Richard. Tommy takes the guitar to levels most guitarist could only imagine. I recommend everyone to see his show if he comes to a venue near you. I sure will!!
