Everything we hoped it would be. Outstanding and intense. Entire cast was spot on. Very enjoyable evening.

    Amazing!

by Nece on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

What a powerful show! The acting was superb and the message is sadly still relevant today. Harper Lee was an unbelievable author who understood fully the importance of having light moments intertwined with darker moments in the dramatic script. I was especially impressed with the character of Scout and the character of Atticus Finch--both portrayed beautifully by the actors. A packed house enjoyed this performance.

    Not a humorous topic.

by Maggie on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

My family and I have long loved To Kill a Mockingbird, and I was hoping to be able to immerse myself in yet another interpretation of this incredible novel. The acting was really on point but the injection of humor in this play just resulted in awkward moments. The laughs ruined a truly beautiful, poignant and relevant story of racism in America. Nothing was gained by this and we were truly disappointed in this strange Aaron Sorkin production.

    Amazing production!

by Sue on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Seeing this classic story brought to life by such talented actors was an amazing experience. Richard Thomas as great and I was so glad to see him live. But Melanie Moore was perfect in the role of Scout. She kept the energy going and helped move the story forward. Every actor was great, and if I get the chance, I will travel somewhere to see it again.

    Outstanding performance

I was worried how this would translate to the stage but it was perfect. The acting was sublime, the stage design was amazing, everything was perfect.

    The play was phenomenal!

by Grandma on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

To Kill A Mockingbird went way beyond my expectations! I've read the book, seen the original movie with Gregory Peck and still learned new things because the actors in the play were fantastic. I can't say enough about how great the performance was, Richard Thomas nailed it. All of the actors were superb. There was laughter, tears and a few gasps, which shows the story was told to perfection! It was just just outstanding!!

    Legs on a snake

by Arlene on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Actors were excellent. The play itself was not. Redeveloped characters to make the story relevant was unnecessary, because a slice in time classic does not need that. It assumes that the audience is too stupid to appreciate the subtlety inherent in the way the characters were originally written. Would someone put couples therapy rewrite into Taming of the Shrew? I get why the authors estate is suing the playwright.

    Truly Enjoyed

by wnybab on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

When I learned that Richard Thomas was going to play Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird, I knew I had to go see it. We enjoyed the show very much. We could even hear most of what was said sitting up in the balcony. The cast did a great job along with the humor throughout. My emotion was grabbed at certain times during the court scenes.

    Rivering Experience

by Ray E on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

My third time to see this play. Broadway, Kavinoky in Buffalo and Sheas. To me it is the best American play. The script by Sorkin keeps the audience glued to the play and has several knockout punches. Audiences get to experience all kinds of emotions. Acting superb. The curtain call was the loudest and longest that I can remember at Sheas. A must see for anyone interested in theater.

    Fantastic

by Michael on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

This show was incredible and everyone should see it. Moving interpretations of characters, a set the supports intricately changing scenes, and a great story we all know. The cast brought Harper Lee’s words to life! The gem of the show for me was Cal, but every actor showed up with an incredible performance. I wish I could have seen it twice I liked it so much. For context, I am someone who frequently leaves shows at intermission. This one did not feel like 2.5 hours because the dialogue moved so quickly. I was thoroughly impressed they kept me in my seat!

    Scout’s narrative

by Kochie on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Sheas sparkled as always the stage sets were fabulous and the, “full house of attendees” were patiently awaiting curtain up! Scout opened the performance , but oh, the applause when Richard Thomas aka Atticus took the stage. Wonderful performance of a very riveting plot by all, but, Melanie Moore captured my heart for her role as, Scout.

    A Must See Experience

by Debbie on 4/5/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

The entire performance was marvelous! The sets were simple but effective. The actors were so wonderful. Molly who played Scout was a gem. I was so pleasantly surprised to see so many young people in the audience. Harper Lee’s book is a required reading at many High Schools. My granddaughter just loved it! Kudos to the entire cast!!

    Exceptional Evening

by CAS on 4/4/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I’ve always wanted to take my two granddaughters to see To Kill a Mockingbird though their enthusiasm did not match mine. This was their Christmas gift so they could not refuse. Well, they were both impressed. The 13 year old had never seen Sheas Theater and she was quite impressed with its grandeur. The 19 year old was enthralled with the story and acting. She had never read the book. I was impressed with the sold out crowd. Then there was Richard Thomas who is the only actor who could believably take on the role of Atticus, other than Gregory Peck. It was an evening to remember. The play ran a bit long; the ending seemed to drag. But it was a magical experience and an event to cross off my bucket list. Thank you Sheas!
