    Sorkin Makes Mockingbird Relevant Again

by CarefulTypist on 4/18/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

Sorkin reworks a well-known story to extract the layers of racism we all suffer from. Calpurnia's voice is essential feedback, and using Atticus's empathy as a tripwire is genius. Bravo!

    Mockingbird

by L. T. on 4/18/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

Show was excellent. Aaron Sorkin changed it a bit but left the original plot in tack. Richard Thomas was an excellent Atticus--nobel and just with a sense of humor. The actress who played Scout was amazing. All and all the whole production and cast were great. Would recommend it.

    Another win for Sorkin

by Nancy on 4/17/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

Sorkin's adaptation of Mockingbird is brilliant and gripping. The play is a must see. All the actors were fantastic in their roles. A fine production. However, the script changes from Broadway do not present as powerful a production in my opinion.

    Good show great experience

by Mare from VT on 4/17/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

Good show great experience! Things about the show that technically I struggled with was adult actors playing the parts of children, however, they did such a good job but after a short time you could suspend your belief and forget that they weren’t really children. I am a big fan of the movie end of the book so I also struggled in the beginning with the comic relief aspect which is really not present in the novel but again it was well done and I did get used to it and enjoy it. Acting was good. I thought Richard Thomas was a little stiff as Atticus but good the actress that played scout was excellent and the actor that played Jim was phenomenal. This was a long way for me to go to see a show but I do think it was well worth it in the Boston opera house is just absolutely gorgeous and they handled pandemic related issues very professionally and as a public health nurse I really appreciated this however fruitless it may be when the city of Boston does not have a mask mandate. Overall a great night Of theater

    Powerful

by Marushka on 4/17/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

What a moving performance of TKAM!! The reality that things haven’t changed that much since the novel was first written is disheartening; we have a long way to go as a society and country. This play is a must see for ALL ages.

I love the story - and this cast brought it to life. I left the theatre thinking what can I see next. Live theatre is Art at its best. Thank you for the memorable experience.

    A-Maze-Ing

by Marc C on 4/15/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

From the opening to the close of the curtain it really had the feel of Harper Lee's amazing literary work. Scout was a particular favorite, but there was not one single cast member that didn't perform their parts to the hilt. Laughter, and of course the tears as well could not be avoided. Cannot recommend this highly enough. Even if you are not familiar with the book or black and white film, I am sure you would thoroughly enjoy this play. Kudos to you all and thank you!

    Bird the Best

by BC Fan on 4/15/22Citizens Bank Opera House - Boston

Wow, was To Kill Mocking Bird fantastic or what. No wonder it is playing to a packed house every performance. Richard Thomas as Attorney Atticus Finch was such a comfortable, familiar face and voice he was the perfect fit for the well mannered, thoughtful, kind, widowed Dad to Scout played by Melanie Moore and Jim. The audience was totally into it and enthusiastic from start to finish. We thought the scenery was especially interesting. Using the cast to assemble and disassemble various components for the different scenes from the Finch home to the courtroom. Go see this if you have a chance. You won't regret it.

It was really thought-provoking to re-examine the characters through Sorkin's lens.
