With multiple albums released on Jagjaguwar and most recently albums on Spacebomb, including 2019's album Fear of Death with Weyes blood, Tim Heidecker has established himself as an important and critically acclaimed voice in independent music.
While maybe best known as one half of the comedy duo Tim & Eric, along with Eric Wareheim, Hediecker is a long time musician and songwriter, Heidecker played in various indie rock bands while in Philadelphia. In high school, access to four-tracks and amplifiers came easier than hulking cameras and editing desks but now ten albums in, and numerous musical collaborations under his belt Heidecker has found his musical voice.
This show featuring Tim's standup followed by a performance by the Very Good Band was great fun for all the Heideckerheads in the crowd.
I’ve been a fan since Tom goes to the mayor of everything Mr. Heidecker has done. This was such a great treat for his fans of not just his comedy but his music as well. I love both sides of Tim and I can’t wait to see him again.
Been a fan of Tim's work for a while and jumped at the chance to see him live. Show was a 30 minute comedy set followed by an hour plus of him and his band playing. To me the comedy set was boring and got me to laugh maybe twice. Relied on repetition of fumbling with the mic, mispronouncing words and checking a piece of paper he had. If you are a fan of Tim from watching Tim and Eric, On Cinema, or any of his other character works, you may not like the comedy set. The band was good but Tim's skills as a frontman/singer are limited. Picture your dad's friends' band that is playing a gig at the local open mic.
Tim is a terrific comedian, performer, artist, blah blah blah - I love the guy. He can do no wrong. My experience was really unfortunate at this venue, though. I'm a 5'7" 145 lb toned guy, yet I felt very cramped in my seat. I can't imagine what taller / larger people were going through for two hours. It was also notably HOT, and even though I was wearing a thin t-shirt and shorts, I was very sweaty walking out of the show. The guy next to me was sweating so much that he started to smell after the 1 hour mark. I'm not sure why they had the It's hard to enjoy something when you and everyone around you are overheating, and you feel like you're in an airplane seat. The speakers sounded like they were blown out prior to this show, and they just decided to use them. It was hard to make out what Tim was saying at some times. It was like going on a date with a 10, but you have soaking wet socks and can't take them off. It's really hard to enjoy the experience, no matter how great it is. I won't be going back.
What a terrific night! I (and the rest of the audience) laughed so hard at Tim Heidecker's act, that I felt the need to put on a second mask! And the music portion blew us away. The band was so tight! Hearing Heidecker's songs live was such a treat, and an added gift was seeing the one and only Vic Berger perform with the band. Thanks, Carolina Theatre, for hosting Tim Heidecker and The Very Good Band!
I’ve been an avid fan of Tim’s comedy since the mid 2000s, so I was very excited for this show. He opened up with a 45 minute comedy set that was pretty funny—certainly had its share of laugh out loud moments. After that, Tim brought out his band to play a bunch of dad rock jams. Funny enough, I am also a pretty big fan of dad rock, but it wasn’t particularly unique or skillful. Tim’s voice is alright, lyrics middle of the road, and guitar skills are passable. His guitarist was really the highlight, with some raging solos, but beyond that I couldn’t get into it and neither could my buddy who I attended the show with. We felt as if Tim got us there with the promise of comedy and then made us watch band practice for a band that plays Wednesdays at the local bar. Perhaps we just didn’t do our research enough and should’ve known. I still give the show 3 stars because I’d do it again just to see Tim do his standup, but I certainly wish it was less dad rock and more comedy.
Love tim, been a fan since I was young. Love his music! Standup was hilarious, and the band was awesome. This was one of my favorite concerts of my life!! Thanks tim and the whole band.
The Two Tims tour is a full night of the brilliance that is Tim Heidecker. From his unhinged right-wing Stand-up Comedian character who has the audience in on the joke (the character and none of his actual jokes) to his sincere musical side, Tim is a brilliant entertainer who always hits the right note. His music is beautiful and worth the deepest of dives. His new album High School is on repeat for me at the moment.
Excellent performance! one of the best concerts I've seen ever.
Love Tim and love his comedy. Honestly his band is good, and I get a bit of a lure with comedy to hear his music but it is overweight on the music side vs comedy. It is a fair warning for folks 25% comedy and 75% music concert.
