About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • So Disappointed!

by Anita on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 1 out of 5

My husband and I were so disappointed with his show. We thought we would see the Tim Allen of Tool Time, Last Man Standing, and all the Disney movies, the things that made him such a success. This could not be further from the truth. I would say his use of the F-word was excessive, but when it is close to every other word, excessive does not seem to convey it properly. His routine was not that funny even if you could get past the language. His opening act was more funny than Tim. Bottom line, if you are a big fan of TT, LMS, or any of his Disney movies, I would not recommend that you go see his show. The actor and the person are so totally different and it has tainted how I now view his other shows. Not a fan!

  • Be ready to laugh

by Suzeesweetcakes on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time with Lowell and Tim. I’d never heard of Lowell Sanders but I won’t forget him -he was hilarious and a great guy to get the crowd going!! Tim was also great, although a little raunchier than I expected. I knew the show was “adult” but wasn’t really prepared for the extent of the language. That said, we still laughed til we cried and had a fabulous time!!

  • Laughter is good for the soul

    by R3 on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen and Lowell Sanders were both hilarious! Mr. Sanders started the laughter and it didn’t stop until the final curtain! Thank you both for a wonderful evening of laughter! Attending events at Ovens Auditorium is always nice. The staff at this venue is always so pleasant and helpful. Parking in and out is easy. It’s clean. Very enjoyable.

  • I don’t think I laughed once

    by Goofy1969 on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 1 out of 5

Some of his material was funny but it was hard getting past his political views. I seen a couple walk out. We should have followed. The guy on before him was great! Very hilarious.

  • Unremarkable

by Jenny on 9/30/23Rating: 1 out of 5

The show started 10 minutes late. An unannounced comedian, the pickle at the deli, did about 20 minutes of material, which was funny. Tim Allen came on after a video showing his television and movie career. Once he began, his show was mostly cussing, and not humorous. Additionally, his voice was a little hoarse and difficult to understand (except for the use of F and GD). He mixed some political views with his observations from his childhood. He finished up in under an hour. It was okay, but for the price of the tickets, it was not worth it. My husband and I have been very big Tim Allen fans in television and movies, but this will be our first and last live performance. He should be grateful for good script writers in his screen career, as his stand up script seems to be heavy on profanity and light on content and humor.

  • Disappointed

by Lynn on 8/29/23Rating: 1 out of 5

I have been a Tim Allen fan for years and have loved everything he has done, especially Last Man Standing. The show he put on was so very disappointing, I wish I didn't go. He had an opener, and he was much funnier than Tim. The crowd must have felt the same way as it was very quiet. I would have thought he would pick up on that and switch up his material, but he didn't. I was tempted to walk out halfway but stayed to the end, hoping it would get better. Unfortunately, it didn't. As I said, very disappointed.

  • Loved the show!

by Liz on 8/29/23Rating: 5 out of 5

It was a great show! Hadn’t laughed out loud, so much, in a while!

  • Good but not great

by Bob on 8/28/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Tim Allen’s timing appeared to be a little off as he started his second show of the evening. The earlier late afternoon show wasn’t sold out so possibly that had something to do with his momentum for the second show. Midway through the show, Tim did appear to regain his comedic timing and ended up with a strong finish.

  • Surprisingly clean on TV, not so much in person

by Don on 8/25/23Rating: 2 out of 5

I don't mind some swearing or raunchy humor, but if you have to swear or go raunchy to get a laugh, then I consider it poor craftsmanship. He was clean on most of his previous TV and movie appearances, and I falsely thought he would similarly present himself in person. I think he is better than that generally and does not need to go "blue"to be funny. Unfortunately he did so at this live show.

  • Outstanding

by Sue on 8/25/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Just awesome! The only issue…I wish it was longer!! Loved that he breaks out of the “clean” mold, with dirty jokes and language! All versions of Tim Allen are phenomenal.

  • Great show

  • Great Comedy & Great Venue!

    by Dig_n_Dug on 8/24/23Rating: 5 out of 5

We LOVE Tim Allen! He was great and spoke the truth of his life w/o bowing to the absurdity of “wokeness”! His opening act was awesome as well! The venue was also wonderful and will keep us coming back!

  • Fun night out but...

by Paxzzr on 8/23/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Had a nice night out with my wife... Tim Allen was funny but not consistently... some of his jokes just ran together where there was no funny to it. Also he was only on stage for 1 hour. A little disappointing.

  • Tim Allen the best!

by Robbie on 8/22/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Great venue great time. Allen is hilarious. I see him whenever he is in town. Material is so relatable. True comedian.

Tim's show was very satisfying...I've watched him for years and his 'stand-up' was everything I hoped for

  • Tim Allen

by Kolleen on 8/22/23Rating: 5 out of 5

His “opener” Lowell (forgotten his last name), was a bit late but Funnnnnny! Damn good in my opinion. Then Mr Tim Toolman Allen came out everyone went crazy. His banter was on point funny charming, he spoke three steps ahead and reverted back like he didn’t even miss a beat. What a mind! I’d love to see him again. Great time.
