Tim Allen on Tour
However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.
Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.
A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.
Who is Tim Allen?
A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.
Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.
His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.
The overall show was as expected. Venue was excellent. However, the show was only an hour and a half including the opening act which in my opinion was too short.
Sadly we laughed more during the opening act. My hubby actually nodded off. Disappointing
Had a good time laughed through out show. Really good time
Tim seemed to have a little delay in getting rolling, but soon up to speed. Lots of laughs for all. As a culture we have forgotten to allow humor.
It wasn’t what I expected. I was thinking it would be hilariously funny. Jokes were few and far between
The man had me laughing so hard my sides were aching! Great act, venue, and staff. It was an awesome show.
The show started 10 minutes late. An unannounced comedian did about 20 minutes of material, which was funny. Tim Allen came on after a video showing his television and movie career. This was his 3rd show in 2 days and his voice was a little hoarse. He mixed some political views with his observations from his childhood; He did not include any of his material from earlier in his career. He finished up in under an hour. It was okay, but for the price of the tickets, it was not worth it.
I've been a Tim Allen fan since I saw him on a Rodney Dangerfield special in 1989 and 34 years later he's still funny. He's maintained an "edge"in his humor and is not afraid of being "canceled"by the current snowflake culture. He did an hour but I wanted more and if he comes around again, I'll be there
Tim Allen put on one of the best performances we have ever seen!!! 1st time seeing a show at the Genesee Theater, place was great!
The seats were good. Parking was easy. The show was very funny.
Genesee Theater was beautiful. Well-kept. Ushers were nice too! Tim was hilarious, but on the crass side. Accurate rating for over 18 show.
Tim Allen was a good time, very funny. Can't wait for him to come back! Go Bears!!
I love Tim Allen! I think he is hilarious! I am happy I went! I wish he would have stayed longer but all in all, I had a great evening!
I enjoyed his stand up tremendously. Some of his material felt a bit forced at times but overall, it was great to see the Tool Man live. The video montage of his work shown at the beginning was a nice touch.
Tim Allen was entertaining and made us laugh sometimes but the material was not fresh. He basically told his backstory and parts of this have been around for many years. If you like Tim Allen, he will deliver to your memories.
Tells it like it is! Hilarious! Worth the money! Not for the politically left leaning!
would not see again opening act was better never did get to any of the tool talk that he was known for on the show
Tim Allen was entertaining, but not over the top funny. Glad I went but would not see him again.
If you’re like me, you grew up watching Tim Allen on screen and hearing his voice on tv shows such as Tool Time as well as hearing him play Buz Lighyear. Tim did not disappoint live either! I laughed so much my stomach muscles were sore the next day!!!!
If you like 5th grade bathroom type humor you’ll love the show. For myself it was the worst comedy show ever. No effort appeared to have been made at comedy. Lazy “comedian”. There were several extremely offensive attempts at comedy. Save your money and don’t waste your time.
