About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Not the TV Dad you know & love

by PulRiley on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

Bought tickets for my parents to join us to see Tim Allen live as my parents love his TV & films and I grew up watching him. He is NOT the Tim Allen you are used to. He's very vulgar, lots of foul language. I had no idea that he had a troubled childhood, spent time in jail, & hated children. Although I was taken back by his context it was nothing compared to the awkwardness listening to his content next to your parents! Never meet your role models!

  • Fun Evening

by RQH on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Tim put on an excellent show. He has a very interesting life and he expressed it with great humor. The warm up comedian was also very talented. It proved to me an entertaining evening.

  • Great show. Laughs unlimited

    by Dmn789 on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show with Tim Allen. The laughs started with the opener who got us ready for Tim. Tim did not disappoint us by any means. The many f words were funny in their contexts. Definitely a must see and another item off my bucket list.

  • Great show; poor sound

by Lindy on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Tim Allen was great but we were fortunate to be fairly close to the stage so we could hear. The Orpheum's sound system was terrible. The sound echoed and was hard to hear, especially with crowd laughter. This wasn't at all a problem last month when we saw Jerry Seinfeld at the same venue.

  • A night of fun and laughter

by Will go again on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen and his opening act were everything we hoped for. Both comics kept us interested and laughing thru the whole show.

  • Disappointing

by Mick on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 1 out of 5

I wish I had done my research before going. Tim's performance was disappointing on many levels. Some included: so much swearing; intentionally and frequently offensive comments; more swearing; a word salad that was often frenetic, garbled and/or hard to follow; more swearing; very little that was actually funny; and virtually no reference to all of his television and movie performances for which he is beloved (and why we liked him to begin with). If you've ever seen Seinfeld perform live, you would know that you don't need to swear every third word or be offensive to be funny. Like I said, disappointing.

  • Tim didn't disappoint

by Holly on 10/23/23Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time seeing Tim and he did not disappoint. Enjoyed his show a lot. Plus also enjoyed the first act that was with him. Sorry, don't remember his name. Was so nice to laugh and have an enjoyable evening.

  • Okay, not great.

by MAJ on 10/22/23Rating: 3 out of 5

We saw Tim last night in Omaha. I'm being generous with a 3 star review. Wish we'd seen the other reviews prior to purchasing our $100+ tix. Honestly, the warm-up comedian prior to Allen, IMO, was much funnier and had a great positive vibe. When Allen came on stage, he immediately made a negative comment about how the screen behind him showing clips from his shows and movie was slow to go up into the lights. Felt bad for whoever was in charge of that. We didn't even notice it until he mentioned it. I could go on, but similar to other reviews the experience was okay but not worth the $$$. My husband said Allen seemed manic; I thought he just dialed in his performance. He reverted to fart and balls, mental "retardation"(yikes), and fat grandma jokes which fell flat, being extremely sophomoric and crass. A handful of people walked out. Do many entertainers and performers treat Midwest audiences as hardly worth their time and unsophisticated? Yes.

  • where's tooltime man?

by cool on 10/4/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 2 out of 5

Tim was a little late to start and early to leave. Didn't think he was comfortable with the audience. His performance jumped around a bit from subject to subject, many peaks and valleys not really as I expected. Overrated for the amount of the tickets price very disappointed.

  • Disappointed

by Anyone know what time it is? on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

Big fan of Tim Allen, but there was no energy in this appearance. The material was good but I got the impression like he did not want to be here. Venue is OK at best.

  • mediocre

by Hersey on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

Though Tim Allen is a gifted comedian and actor, his performance at the Oven Auditorium, Charlotte, NC, on Sep 29th lacked comedic punch. It was difficult to relate with the topics he selected to make humorous. The preceding comic seemed to draw much more crowd enthusiasm. Tim's stories did not adequately lead to a comedic punch line - it was more a conversation presentation that contained some humorous bi-lines, which were easily missed by the audience. We thoroughly enjoy Tim Allen and his TV & movie acts, but, the stand-up comic lacked a spontaneous humorous zip.

  • Enjoyed the opener…

by GRex on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 1 out of 5

Always love Ovens auditorium; have been to three comic shows in the last 2 weeks. No complaints about the venue. Long story, short. Tim Allen, while a great actor, isn’t a funny comedian. Has nothing to do with how vulgar he is; he’s hard to understand because he rushes through the “jokes”, his stories didn’t make sense, he complains about the things that made him successful (when he’s not very good at standup) and he came off like a grumpy guy rambling. We were really looking forward to it, but it was just bad. We stayed whole time because my 80 year old dad made the trip to see him, but we would have left early otherwise.

  • Not worth the money.

by BG on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 2 out of 5

Not one of his best performances. Long time fan, but he's definitely on the comedic decline. His delivery was poor, he mumbled a lot and his punch lines didn't really pack a punch. Most people laughed harder at the opener then at Tim. He was on for about an hour and then walked off stage and was done. For the money, not worth it.

  • Disappointing

by Allie on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 2 out of 5

The show was not at all as we expected, much more crass and he just seemed angry— like the whole thing was one long rant. While moments were funny, it didn’t feel overwhelming like a comedy show. The language was over the top, and was a large deviation from his work on “Home Improvement” or “Last Man Standing.” The people in front us left in the middle of show— and honestly, I wish we had too.

  • Amazing!!

    by Joe V on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

by SB on 10/2/23Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

The seating was so tight, that I had to sit holding my arms in as to not keep bumping the people on either side of me. The lighting was too bright. It was hard to see his face, it was almost a white blur and I was only sitting around 25 rows back. I will think twice before going to Ovens again.
