About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Not Worth the Price Tag

Tim's act was okay, not bad, not great...just okay. The potty mouth stuff was minimum. Enjoyed the comedy about the government basically because it was all true. He just did not Wow me. Rating as given simply because the price tag was way to high for the amount of entertainment.

I was very excited about this show as I grew up watching Tim Allen, but was very disappointed when the show consisted of crude, racist, homophobic, and serious metal illness jokes. I understand that this is a comedy show, but I also believe there is a line, and in this show, he definitely crossed it.

The opening act was outstanding. He was very funny and did a great job connecting with the audience. I think Tim Allen rode on his name a little bit. He had a few funny bits but overall I thought his act was a little tired and not very funny. I would not pay to see him again.

  • Amazing warm up act, average Tim Allen

by vegas5055 on 3/11/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

The warm up act was very funny which made it a tough act for the 'star' Tim Allen to follow. The warm up comedian from Detroit whose name was kept low key, had good style and continuity of jokes and situations. Unfortunately this couldnt be said for Tim Allen. His lines were mostly dark and humerous: however, the stories jumped everywhere and not always concluded. It seemed rude to finish a joke and then walk off stage without closing the act or thanking the audience.

  • Tim Allen was awful...

by Anonymous on 2/27/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Awful! No creativity or imagination. Sick bathroom humor, entertaining to middle school boys, maybe.

  • by Anonymous on 2/26/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Tim Allen was great. Even with the stage falling apart behind him, he didn't even notice. He was very in tune to his performance and didn't bat an eye. He seems to be very down to Earth and an all around good person. It's funny how this review asks us to upload videos and photos... FORBIDDEN! Duh!

  • Amazing

Tim Allen is just as amazing as he was when I saw him in the late 1990's. He thrives on the stage. Excellent show!!

  • Average show

by SanJoseCrew on 2/26/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

For the cost of the tickets I expected a top comedian show and this was just an average show. However, it was geared to the family environment; which it was not offensive really in anyway. Our party of 10 people felt disappointed when we left. We had attending other comedian shows that didn't cost a arm and a leg and walked out of those with our sides hurting from laughter. Can't say that for this show sorry to say.

Little slow at the beginning, but still a good night of laughter, which we all need.

  • Disappointed in Tim Allen

by hbobbuzz on 2/26/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

I attended this with my 19 year old son. We found the opening comedian very funny. We have always enjoyed Tim Allen in his TV shows and movies which are family friendly so we were not expecting the foul language and many raunchy jokes that he spoke. His manner was loud and abrasive. His attempt at humor was based on bad language and stories form his life which he told in a foul way. He did not appear to have the ability to be funny with the simple things of life without the foulness. We were uncomfortable watching the show and there were many who walked out by the three quarters of the way through. We stayed until the end as we were in the middle of a long row. I would not recommend this to anyone and would definitely never see him again.

  • Tired old man

Tim show his ass in many ways but mostly how out of touch he is with what is currently gong on in the world

  • Tim Allen was great!

by OCBluesLover on 2/24/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Tim Allen gave a great one-hour show. He was preceded by Lowell Sanders, who was also very funny. Tim told stories about his life, from childhood to prison, and also made observations on politics, political correctness, and a bunch of other topics. He was very funny, and had us laughing the whole time. There was more adult language than we expected; it didn't bother us, but could be a problem for people who are sensitive to that.

  • Tim Allen - Great show!

Excellent show! Funny and relatively clean! Recommend highly.

  • Obnoxious Man Sat Beside Me!!!!

by Martens on 2/5/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

There were parts of the show that I really enjoyed. But for the most part I thought the opening act was funnier than Tim Allen! I did have an obnoxious gentleman that sat next to me that thought the word "Blue" was funny. He laughed at every little move and sound that was made. I'm glad that he enjoyed the show because I'm sure that everyone around him did not because of him. At least the party of 4 that I was with didn't enjoy it.

  • Tim Allen

by katyz3 on 2/4/13Sands Showroom at the Venetian - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great - even the warm-up act. Tim was as funny in person as he is in movies and TV and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was a real treat!

  • Like a night with Krusty the Clown

by Mathesar on 11/12/12The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Tim Allen started his career in standup and I think he's using the same material; mostly funny stories about his early life. While these were entertaining, in the same way that a funny story told by a friend in a pub would be, I'm not sure they were enough for a stand-up performance. I wasn't offended by the non-politcally correct material or language used but I think many of the old ladies who came to see Buzz Lightyear, Home Improvement or Santa, were shocked and several walked out of the performance. It was a bit like when beloved kids entertainer Krusty the clown, does an adult stand up gig.

  • Not Wilson's next door neighbor.

by TheOptimator on 11/7/12The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

A little slow at first, but when he hit is mark about 1/4 of the way though the show, he was belly laughing funny.

  • Never laughed so hard!

by Chillrad on 11/7/12The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen was hilarious. We were in stitches almost the entire time. Exactly the comedic relief we needed. He was particularly appealing to us as "baby boomers" who could really understand and relate to his jokes. Loved it! Highly recommend it. Out of the 3 shows we went to, Absinthe, "O" and Tim Allen, this was the most enjoyable.

  • Tim Allen standup is a must see!!

by DaniRae6 on 11/6/12The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

My boyfriend and I just got back form Las Vegas.. while we were there we saw Tim Allen standup at the Venetian. The venue was great, more of an intimate setting but had breathing room for everyone. The tickets were reasonably priced, especially for what you get! There wasn't a 'bad' seat anywhere. We area both from Michigan and both grew up watching Tim Allen on Home Improvement and in various movies and shows and were very excited to see him live. We saw the show on a Saturday night and it was a full house. The opening act, forgot his first name ( xxx Sanders — I'm sorry) was hilarious and set the tone for the show. Tim Allen himself was awesome! He discussed a variety of topics and had everyone laughing. It felt good to laugh like that!! Many of the topics he discussed people of any age could relate to, and dealt with real life issues and occurrences. The way he delivered his entire show, and this bit in particular was on point! Very funny. My boyfriend and I absolutely recommend anyone to go see the show. Tim Allen was great and I love his old school morale and outlook on life. Near and dear to me = ) You would be missing out if you didn't see him standup at the Venetian.
