About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

Took over an hour to go 1.4 miles. Traffic control is desperately needed.

  • Class Act

by LovelyLaura on 2/6/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

We have been a fan for years but that doesn't always mean that when you see it in person you'll still be a fan. That could not be further from the truth in this instance. Tim Allen was by far the best performer we have ever seen, and we've seen quite a few. The way he presented himself, his opening act, the length of the show (which left us wanting more!) the content, EVERYTHING was spot on. We felt as though we got the classic Tim Allen we have all grown up with and loved along with a glimpse into the hilarious back story of his childhood, his love life and of course the Santa Clause. We have loved him for years and will continue to do so. It's a MUST SEE for sure!

This was the 4th time since the men are pigs tour. Heard grandma/bb gun 3 times. Time for a refresh.

  • Not what we expected

by Jehzl on 2/6/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 2 out of 5

The show started about 15 mins late (7:15pm) opener came on for 10 minutes and then came Tim…not sure if he was drunk or what? He was slurring his words for the first 15 minutes or so. The show wasn’t very funny. He talked about farts and his grandmother ALOT! The show ended right around 9pm. Definitely wasn’t worth the money.

  • Tim Allen was Great (but definitely NOT for kids)

    by Keepsmiling1228 on 2/6/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the show was entertaining to hear about his life, growing up in his family and his early life. But beware he does drop the F-bomb consistently throughout his act, so if you're not comfortable with "savory language"this might not be the show for you. Despite the unexpected language, I really enjoyed the show. He had one guy who opened for him (about a 15 minute bit) who was great (did get his name though). Show started late though, scheduled for 7 p.m. and the opener didn't go on until almost 7:30 p.m. The night ended around 9 p.m. (no encore), but it was nice that it ended at a decent hour. The Fox Theatre is beautiful, but parking and traffic are always a pain. Overall a 5-star night!

  • Tim Tool Man was Awesome!

by ILS on 2/6/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Tim was very funny in this not funny anymore world. He wasn't afraid to be himself and touch on all subjects. His material was fresh, heartwarming, easily relatable, and laugh out loud. He made fun of himself and his life experiences. It was great old-time humor.

  • Stifling and disappointing

by Shelley on 2/1/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 2 out of 5

Usually Enjoy Tim and his work. Show time versus doors opening was not clear. Many in the massive line complaining about this. Not our first show…The cigarette smoke in the venue was miserable to tolerate while in this huge line… Tim’s content matter (specifically his family) was disappointing and not funny. Considered leaving during the show, I was so frustrated . . Over Heard multiple conversations after the show from people ….regarding never seeing him again… and what a disappointment….Lloyd was still very funny just as he previously was.

  • Amazing seeing a childhood icon

by Jp on 1/31/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen was amazing! From the big screen to the stage this man cracks you up everytime!! It was definitely a nice change to see the adult side of his comedy rather than the family friendly acting. Wonder which is the "real"Tim Allen?

  • Enjoyed

Lots of laughs. Warning - F word is used a lot. Overall, funny and enjoyable.

  • Entertaining

by KO on 1/30/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed Tim Allen and his opening act was excellent. I did not enjoy waiting to enter the auditorium in a smoke filled casino. The starting time was not clearly stated in the tickets.

  • Show was great!

  • Birthday Celebration

by Deb on 1/30/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 3 out of 5

Not that funny. As well as too many times using the “F” word. Also seemed like he was using material of 25 years. disappointing. But, his backup was very entertaining!

  • First trip to Hard Rock

by Mr Bill on 1/30/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 1 out of 5

Fist time to hard rock was disappointing..we were going to see Tim Allen...it was shocking how the casino smells and in order to get to the venue for the show you had to walk through the casino..it would be nice to enter someplace close to the show entrance..show was great but leaving afterwards was no fun with everyone going out same doors, need more exit points...then it took 30 minutes to get out of parking lot...not an enjoyable experience...

  • Big rant

by Ff on 1/30/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 2 out of 5

First half of his performance was more of a rant than comedy. Plus , he was all over the place. . Second half was better.

  • It was Ok

by RS on 1/30/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GaryRating: 2 out of 5

Tim primarily told stories while on stage; some had some humor to them, most did not. I am glad that I went to see him; however, I would not go to see him again. In my opinion, his opener was funnier than Tim.

  • Great show
