About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Disappointed

by Guy on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 2 out of 5

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed in Tim Allen’s performance. We loved him in Home Improvement and Last Man Standing but did not feel that he connected much with the audience. Many of his jokes fell flat. Also, he used too much vulgarity. The opening act was amazing! He was hilarious!

  • Fun night

by Judy on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was very nice. The opener was very funny and got us all ready for comedy. Tim came out. He looked handsome as ever. I liked the beginning when they played the videos and then his comedy was very good. He talked the whole way through joking, laughing, even the cuss words were funny, I miss him

  • Oy what a not funny man

by Karin on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 1 out of 5

We were so looking forward to seeing Tim Allen! When he brings down the screen to show about himself and his movies and shows ok,but I thought that the screen was gonna stay down so everybody in the whole theater could see him but no, Wrong it was all about himself First mistake! Second, he came off angry and bitter! Third mistake i’ve heard comedians know how to swear and make it hilarious. He just didn’t, that didn’t offend me any of the swearing, again he wasn’t funny. It was nothing funny about Tim Allen‘s routine. I almost fell asleep. To sum it up, he was crude, rude and not funny at all!!! We spent a lot of money and left early and enjoyed the rest of our evening.

  • The worst!!! Just terrible in all levels!

by Marci on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 1 out of 5

Tim Allen was awful! We were looking so forward to the event and it disappointed in every way. He was crude, repetitive and nasty. Would never go see him again! He’s too old to be doing this and using the material he did. Very unnecessary!

  • Tim Allen never disappoints

by Melanie Loves Yacht Rock on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second time seeing Tim Allen. He is a great storyteller that doesn’t rely on being mean or making fun of others.

  • A Bit Disappointing

by Trish on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 3 out of 5

I gave this performance a 3 only because we love Tim Allen, but in all honesty we were disappointed. There were a lot of F-bombs (I'm not close to being prudish), with little substance. I can only imagine stand-up comedy being difficult for a long performance, but Tim's hour performance was another disappointment...honestly, we were hoping for gut-splitting laughs, but were left short of it.

  • The opener was better than Tim

by Bsmith on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 3 out of 5

Love Tim super funny, didn’t expect he would be so adult in his show. Pretty much non stop F-bombs

  • Meh

by Us on 7/2/24Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 4 out of 5

Not quite as funny as I had expected, but still a good show with material I hadn't heard before.

  • Absolutely amazing

by Just me on 6/30/24Rating: 5 out of 5

We laughed the whole time, Tim is funny as hell. Just be prepared for a very adult experience.

  • Very Funny

by Steve on 5/1/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

Tim was very entertaining and funny. He didn't simply regal us with former success or give us a stock performance. He was fresh and relevant, both to the times and place.

  • He’s still got it…

by SDRic on 4/30/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

Told stories of his life and we all laughed. I was hoping he’d do some of his 1991 Showtime special, “Men Are Pigs”, but he moved on. Still, lots of laughs!!

  • Great to see good standup

by Charles on 4/30/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show. Totally relatable comedy and in the venue of the old days nothing off limits. Free speech apples Like it should be.

  • Best Ever

I ran out tears from laughing starting with his warm up act and through Tim’s act!!!! It was better than our best expectation. Can’t wait for them to come back again and again!

  • As good as I thought

by Bentobox on 4/30/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

Warm up act was wonderful. Tim killed it while sharing his life story. I was with a group from work with our spouses. Many had never been to a comedy show before and brought there political views with them (California natives), and still managed to enjoy the show. I could see how some things said could be seen as offensive, but this was a comedy show. I have been to 100+ shows in several states and countries and on bases over world. This was a seasoned performance. Not a top 10. There was plenty of laughter, no heckling, and no boing. Just a slight moan and kringe twice. The best show I’ve seen in San Diego county was Brad Garrett-I busted a vessel in my eye. Tommy Davidson (in living color & more) was my favorite because he stayed after with the military for an hour after the show ( and bar crawl after[shhh]).

  • Disappointment!

by Crazy Grandma on 4/30/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 2 out of 5

The venue was fine, getting into the show was easy access and easy to leave when the show was over. Just disappointed in Tim Allen. I guess I thought he would be more like Bill Engvall, but sadly it was too much saying the "F"word too extreme. I really didn't like much of what he said. The comedian before him was better than Tim.

  • Absolutely amazing

by DKB on 4/30/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

Tim is very funny. We've enjoyed both of his TV shows and look forward to the new one coming out soon. So glad we attended his show.

  • Just not funny

by Hkoz on 4/30/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 1 out of 5

He was basically just ranting, rather than doing any type comedy bit. My husband and I left after about 30 minutes or so because it was just so boring that we'd rather gamble. The opener was great though.
