About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Excellent Event

Parking was handled well, and as recommended I entered the building 1 hour before the show started. If there was any complaint, it was the fact that they didn't allow folks to go in and sit for 30 minutes, so everyone stood in a crowed hallway. Tim did an excellent performance as did his lead comedian (sorry forgot his name). Plenty of real-life experience laughter!

We laughed and enjoyed but due to venue so large it would have been nice if the screens that were there were put to use.

  • Awesome evening!

Have been watching Tim Allen since the "Home Improvement" days. So great to finally see him in person.

  • Great show/Poor facility

by JT on 2/22/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

Tim Allen and his opening act were outstanding. Unfortunately, Gammage is a poor venue to see such a good show. As usual, the sound system was pathetic. Even with seats within 15 rows of stage, it was hard to hear every joke. At plays, if you're not VERY close to stage it's not even worth attending. Also, enough with the mask nazi treatment. We are done paying to see any entertainment that requires a mask. Just a shame that a facility dampens the enjoyment of such good entertainment.

Get rid of the mask mandates - you should let people choose for themselves

We loved the Tim Allen show -- his comedy really resonated with my husband and I in the 60+ age group!! The comedian that open his show was really good too. Loved the night.

Thank you Tim!!! Waited 2+ years for this show. Spent some extra $ (well worth it) to sit 3rd row center. Even with our masks on (thanks ASU), i know you could see our smiles.

  • Tim Allen at Gammage Auditorium

by VickiR on 2/21/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 4 out of 5

Always love Tim Allen’s humor. Unfortunately much of his skit was the same as we saw in Las Vegas 3 years ago. The sound system was only 2 speakers set on the stage. Much of the act could not be heard on the First Tier.

  • Tim was great, but the sound mix was awful

by JustSher on 2/21/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

I have perfect hearing and the sound was awful. Asked a few people that were sitting in other areas and they said the same. I could hear maybe 75%. My husband less than 10%. We love Tim Allen and what I heard was funny. But the venue wasn't great. They were super strict with the masks, but the toilets didn't have seat protectors available.

I had an issue with getting the etickets on my phone. I think you should have a print option as well as electronic. Tim was great and so was the warm up comedian.

  • Awesome evening!

I've been a fan of Tim Allen for years. He did Not disappoint...it was a wonderful evening. He is as funny in person as on his shows. The entertainer that opened (Cole ?) was also very good. Given another opportunity, I would definitely go see him again!

  • Hysterical

Tim Allen is the funniest down to earth real life person. What a great night after two years of pandemic.

My husband and i enjoyed Tim Allen's stand up, very much! He was down-to earth and relatable, while being bigger than life himself! We would highly recommend adults seeing the show and we look forward to seeing him again when he comes back to Phoenix!
