About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

He was as good as he is on TV. The warm up ace was very good also. When the show first started could not hear very well.

Great show. Tim Allen's stand up act is bluer than you might be used to, but he is funnier than hell. Would definately pay to see him again.

The shows were great. The venue... Seating very tight, difficult to hear at times, auditorium was HOT!

  • Awesome show!

We have never seen Tim Allen’s stand up before. We’ve only seen him on TV and in the movies. It was so unexpected and so refreshing. I love his transparency and honesty. I also love that he’s so honest and straightforward about his sobriety. Keep up the good work Tim!

  • Hilarious!!!

We have watched Tim’s and movies for years but have never seen him live, I have never laughed so hard in my life!! Be ready for the “F” bombs🤣🤣🤣

  • Just Ok

The show was funny but the venue was horrible. Small and cramped seating in an old auditorium.

  • More profanity than comedy

    by tnorton03 on 3/7/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

Definitely not the actor he portrays on TV. Completely disappointed and no longer a fan. I could deal with language if he had been funnier. Got more laughs from the opening act!

My husband and I enjoyed Tim Allen’s show so much! The guy before him was great too! We would definitely go to another show.

  • Great show .. glad we went

    by W. M. on 3/6/22Rating: 4 out of 5

Ok sure he uses a lot of foul language. So I guess if you take offense to that you probably ought not go. But the subject matters he makes fun of are hilarious.. you know the old saying the truth hurts?? Well the truth is funny as hell too !!

  • My ribs hurt for days from laughing so hard

Absolutely hysterical. There were times I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe.

  • Long Awaited Fun Night

by CSL on 2/26/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Lionel was hilarious; lots of fun. And, better yet, it seemed like he was enjoying himself, too. Tim was classic Tim with insane stories and parodies. It was difficult to hear him for about the first ten minutes or so, then all was well when he kicked in. We needed the hilarity in this confound world. This night helped us return to levity and healing laughter. If there was one very negative issue, it was with the Nazi schoolmarm mask police. A couple of ladies took themselves and policing masks way too seriously with yelling and spouting directives at patrons. Very Debbie Downer for what the evening was all about: fun, laughs, and a chance to forget the outside world of masking orders.

  • A great time even wearing a mask!

by Todd on 2/24/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

A real comedic genius, he is funnier doing stand-up than on television!

  • Adult language

by Susan on 2/23/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 2 out of 5

The Tim Allen show was full of bad language. He even talked about the fact that he uses bad language. He was more funny when he had clean language and clean jokes.

  • Tim Allen

    by B. C. on 2/23/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Thought it was a wonderful performance. Mr. Allen continues to bring the laughs that I grew up with back in the 90’s when he was on “Home Improvement” and him voicing one of my favorite Pixar characters. I will surely see him again whenever he comes to town or in a different city; but overall it was worth every bit and I continue to wish Tim the best in all of his comedy bits and future projects!!!

  • Funny?

    by Gillyman1963 on 2/23/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was not very good upon entry. Let us in an hour before show, then made is crowd into the hallways for another 30 minute wait until we could be seated. Why cram us all inside if we can't sit down? STUPID!! Tim was amazing as usual with politically incorrect very funny jokes and stories. Definitely was a lot of belly laughs during the night. Was worth the very long wait for this show.

  • Well worth the wait!!

by NJP on 2/23/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

He was great !! Gammage at ASU needs to lift the mask mandate!! Like soon !! Will not go to anymore shows or concerts until this is lifted !!!!!

  • Tim Allen was marvelous!

by Cyd on 2/23/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

I waited over 2 years to see him and he didn't disappoint! He was funny, witty, his stories about his family were heartwarming and charming. I totally loved it and it was worth the wait. I am so glad it wasn't cancelled due to COVID. Thanks for bringing him here! Bring more acts like him here!

  • Tim Allen

by Tams on 2/22/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 4 out of 5

I am a huge fan of Tim Allen, a little disappointed in the show language. The occasional "F" word is okay but the opening act and Tim used it a BIT TOO MUCH! Both acts were entertaining and laughed extremely hard at the majority of their 'stories'. I was almost embarrassed for the elderly ushers at the ASU Gammage theatre, and so thankful that my parents were not able to attend - they would have been furious at the language.

  • This was a terrible show!

by BB on 2/22/22ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 1 out of 5

He has no material worth listing to and has few sentences that don't start or end with the F word. I was so sorely disappointed with this show I can't find words to explain it. One would think at the end of such a long break from comedy a seasoned comedian would be not have the humor of his routine depend on the audience only finding humor in foul language. It seems at his age, he would have acquired a more varied vocabulary. Tim Allen was foul mouthed and nothing close to funny. His humor was degrading and very depressing. Surely we have talented comedians still! Ridiculous show to expect money for! Our entire party felt robbed. Sad night, we were looking forward to this show. This is nothing close to the Tim Allen he has portrayed in his acting! He just ruined all his movies for all of us.
