About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Tim Allen was great!

by ericm on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

Tim Allen was great, what I got to see. But, I would never go see another show at McFarlin Auditorium again. The parking was horrendous, took an hour and 15 minutes to get in and parked. They had only one person with a credit card reader to process the $15.00 parking charge. I missed the opening act and part of Tim Allen's show.

  • Tim Allen

by Martie on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Tim Allen was wonderfully funny and extremely entertaining. The venue was horrific. It took us over AN HOUR to find a place to park and that included 1/2 of the audience. Traffic looking for parking was ridiculous and the venue was not set up for any type of Handicapped assistance. The parking garage was at least a 15 minute walk from the auditorium and for those of us who have trouble walking, it caused us to be even later to the performance. We were in the vicinity by 7:30 pm and did not actually make it to the auditorium until almost 9:00. There was really no one directing traffic and it was very unorganized. So spending $100 per ticket was unfortunate as we missed 1/2 the performance (who ever opened for Tim). So as far as seeing Tim Allen that was terrific but I would not choose SMU Auditorium again for any type of show.

  • Never got to see it…PARKING WAS NON EXISTENT

    by JN888 on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

Unfortunately we never got to see the show. We arrived 45 minutes before it began and there was no parking available on the SMU campus. We drove around 30 minutes after the show began continuing to search for parking to no avail. I am extremely frustrated that the event management did not have any parking attendants or even signs for people to be able to find parking easily. I will never attend an event hosted at SMU again because of their poor planning.

  • Disillusioned

by A big fan on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

I fess up ... I'm a prude. Came to hear Tim the Tool Man Taylor and Buzz. Just heard potty mouth ... infinity! Came home and took a bath. Really, could the delivery be made without the dirty language ... would he make fewer millions? Don't know. But, still a die-hard fan ... will stick to TV and movies where he's forced to clean up his act and simply use his gift for comedy. Sigh

  • Tim Allen live at the McFarlin Auditorium, Dallas, TX

by Todd Davis on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

Great show and really cool to see Tim Allen live! Only problem with this event was the venue was SO HOT!! Guess the facilities manager at SMU didn't realize that when you pack an auditorium with a couple thousand people the temperature is going to get a bit warm and you need AC to compensate!! Was getting close to the point my wife and I were about to leave just to get some cooler, fresh air.

  • Fun evening filled with laughs

    by AGH4 on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely amazing show from beginning to the end. Never laughed so hard all night long. We've loved Tim in almost everything he's done, but standup is where he really shines. A must see show if you are anywhere near where he's doing a gig.

  • He was great ! Venue not

by MartiniC on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

First of all got online immediately when the tickets went on sale it wouldn’t let me purchase anything else but third balcony! And that’s a huge venue so that’s a little crazy! Parking was horrible, the seats were horrible we had to sit on the edge of our seat tilted sideways to even see down to the stage. Which was a shame because he was really awesome what we could hear

  • Disappointed

by LS on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

We were so surprised that Tim Allen could not get through a sentence without an “F” word- and joked about it. He wasn’t even that funny. His career is based on family-friendly movies and TV. I felt duped. He talks about how much he didn’t enjoy it. Good riddance Tim, not interested in whatever your next project will be. Zero stars

  • Terrible!!!!!!!!

by LB on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

Arrived an hour early to get parked and settled in our seats. 20 minutes after the show had already started we were still sitting in parking lot traffic! We missed the show and are out a lot of money to stare at brake lights.

  • Disappointed

by Debbie on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

Venue was beautiful, seats nice and spacious for the most part. Entertainment lacked significantly. Opening comedian (forgot his name!) was so much better than Tim Allen. I guess I expected the humor I see from him on his shows. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Not too funny, foul language just to be foul …. It’s just not funny. Wouldn’t spend the time or money to see him again.

  • Tim Allen

by ReadyT on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fantastic. Two hours of entertainment and 2 excellent comics. I am a huge Tim Allen fan and followed him since the 80s. His show was fresh with new material combined with some of his previous material. As usual Tim delivers with excellent timing and created a Lotta belly laughs. My only negative to the show is the fact that I wish winning event was held at SMU the internal parking lots could be opened up. It’s tough to wait in traffic for 45 minutes to get in only to drive by 10 empty parking lots.

  • Not best venue

by Vauyou on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

Show was great. Parking is not set up for large events. Handicapped parking was no where to be found. Had to go upstairs or downstairs to find a bathroom. Sounds and lighting not the best

  • Laughed my butt off

by Dave on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen gave a great performance in Dallas the other night, I laughed my butt off. You don't have to be a fan of his TV shows to enjoy his stand up routine. I however have enjoyed both his hit TV shows as well as his movies. If you get the chance you should catch his show. 🤣🤣

  • Great Show

by Brent on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Lots of laughs and fun insights. Learned a lot about Tim and his growing up. Good show for adults.

  • Comedy and Crowding

    by Z&B on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

The show was pretty funny and we enjoyed our night out. The theater was packed and the seats were too small. My poor husband-who is 6’5”- barely fit. And the large lady next to him didn’t fit. They basically sat rubbing shoulders the whole time.

  • Sound was lacking

by Front Row Guy on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

The show was really good. However, the sound was less than desired. We sat on Row A, and had a hard time hearing him on the stage. Tim needed to stand closer to the mic or increase the volume.

  • Great show. “Just OK “venue

by Kat on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. The venue was on a college campus so you had to park a mile away. I was fine, but the majority of the crowd was older than middle-aged.

  • Pretty lame

by Tm on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

Parking too far. Seats sized for chuldren. Act of headliner obsessed with F bombs. Opening act funnier. Tim sort of lane.

  • Shocked… but still funny

    by Fourft11 on 3/8/22McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

From the first sentence to the last, we were shocked by his R-rated profanity. 50% of every sentence was filled with the WORST profanity you can imagine, and I’m NOT exaggerating. 50%!!! Were the rest of the words in the sentence funny? Yes. Honestly, the profanity felt forced. It was completely unnecessary and not pertinent to the story, almost like it was a filler, to make the show longer, maybe? I don’t know. We laughed, although a fraction of it was crude humor, which I hate, mixed with a generous portion of humor that took shots at about every group you can think of, but that’s typical of comedians I guess. To sum up, even though we laughed, we walked away disappointed. What is it they say? “Never meet your heroes.” From now on, we will stick to watching the funny people, in their shows and movies, and appreciate the regulator’s of such media, much more than we did before.

  • Pretty lame

by Tm on 3/7/22Rating: 2 out of 5

Lost his touch from the tool show in tge 90s. Kind of boring. He seems more dialed in on cursing and tellingbthe audience he is going to curse, than being funny. There is a difference, Tim. The opening act was much better. Get your act together, Tim, you can be better. Stop trying to be offennsive when that's not why you are famous or why people come to see you. You're screwing yourself.
