About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Tim The Tool Man HILARIOUS!!!!!!!

    by D. B. on 7/20/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

This was my very 1st time seeing Tim Allen and I can't wait to see him again, his jokes were so good I about peed myself. Tim was very direct and personable with the audience and had a variety of jokes which covered several topics such as politics, his dislike for children, Twitter ranting, and his grandma. If you want to see a great live comedy show, this is the show to go see.

  • Meh…

by Erica B on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 3 out of 5

Our first time at the DeVos Performance Center and the facility is phenomenal. Super friendly workers and it has the charm of a smaller venue, yet still being able to accommodate lots of people. Tim Allen was good but not great. Thought we’d laugh harder. Oh well.

  • Disappointed

by Unhappy fan on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 1 out of 5

I have been a Tim Allen fan my entire life and have been trying to see his stand up for many years. I finally got to see it in Grand Rapids Michigan it was actually very disappointing. He’s a lot more funny in his television shows and he literally was only on the stage for one hour almost to the minute

  • Loved it!!

by Pianomama on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen was worth the two year wait! He was so funny! His opening guy was equally funny! My husband and I truly enjoyed this experience!

  • Night with Tim

by Pj on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

Thrilled with parking and venue. Mr Sanders, the warm up act was very funny. Didn’t care for the videos preshow, we are all familiar with Tim Allens past. Enjoyed his show and peeks of his personal life. Swears too much

  • Unexpected

by KATIE on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 2 out of 5

Tim was funny as always but he seemed to want us to know he is not the "clean cut" character he protrays on TV. He went out of his way to use F word and I found it more offensive than funny. He is a talented comedian but he alienated me today. I would not pay money to see him again.

  • Was disappointed

by Laura on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 1 out of 5

I was expecting the Tim Allen that I’ve seen for the last 25 years. Even brought my teenage son. Was very disappointed that his stand up routine is nothing like what he’s portrayed himself in movies and TV. His humor wasn’t funny and he couldn’t speak or talk without dropping the F bomb or another word for a cat. Kind of feel like the jokes on us for supporting him all these years

  • Laughed the whole time

by Boomer on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen did not disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. He started with a great opening act, Lowell Sanders. I had waited two years for this show due to covid and I'm glad I stuck it out!

  • Not impressed

by Chucky on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 2 out of 5

Not what i expected. Sounded like he was mad at the world. ALOT of f-bombs. A few funny things, but wasn't impressed.

  • Great show

by Jim vandersnoodt on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

  • So so

by KathZ on 7/19/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 3 out of 5

Had high expectations, perhaps too high. There were moments that were pretty funny, but other times… it seemed like he was jumping all over and there was no flow to his show. His opener, Lowell Sanders, was hilarious and funnier than Tim. Also, it seemed odd to us that before Tim came on stage, they were showing stills and short clips from his movies and TV shows; Tim mentioned in his show that he didn’t want to be known as a TV or movie star, but rather as a standup comic. Glad we saw the show, but we wouldn’t do it again.

  • Great time!

Im a huge Tim Allen and Lowell Sanders fan. This is my 4th time seeing them. Drove 5 hrs from southwest Ohio. I took my mom and this was her first time seeing them. She loved them. We had a great mom/daughter evening together.

Absolutely hysterical! The hardest we’ve laughed in a long long time. Very adult humor but very funny.
