About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • What a blast

From the opening act to the actual TIM ALLEN himself, the whole entire show my husband and I were laughing, to the point my husband choked on his spit. (Gross I know) but it just shows you how funny it actually was to us. We would see Tim again in a heartbeat when he comes closer again!!

  • Tim Solid / Opener Excellent / More Butt Room

by Bags on 9/20/22The Reno Ballroom - RenoRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the show. Been awhile since I've attended standup, and, for the price of the tickets, I did expect to be entertained longer than an hour and twenty minutes (that's pretty close). That said I enjoyed Tim's delivery. Opener Lowell Sanders (I think is correct) is great. Would like to see a full show of him. Laughed out loud at the bits and he is engaging with the audience. Since you (Ticketmaster) asked about "room for improvement", human beings aren't small anymore. Obviously every seat is a piece of real estate, but a little more in-between the seats room would be nice (if anyone from the airlines is reading this...the same goes for airline seats).

  • One of the BEST of all time~

    by SHOOT1SAM on 9/20/22The Reno Ballroom - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

I'm leaving a 5-star review because I can't leave one for 10-stars! I am a HUGE fan of live comedy and go to more live standup than concerts, games, movies, plays, etc. combined. Tim Allen's show was exceptional-truly one of the BEST I have ever seen. If you ever get a chance to see him live, do what you need to do to go-it WILL be worth it.

Tim's excellent story telling based comedy brought the house down. We were all gasping for breath by the end. Thanks for the great time!

  • Don't waste your money

by SPARKLE on 8/22/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 1 out of 5

I have always loved Tim Allen. I was very excited to see him and because of COVID, I had to wait 2 years for his event to occur. I was so disappointed in his attitude and language. He used the F-Bomb at least 50 times and probably more like 100. That's not humor, that's swearing. I did not pay to hear that or that he hates children and that's a quote. He criticized disabilities, religion, politics, people with money (of which he is one), etc offending many in the audience. He even had the nerve to criticize Amway while performing in their hall. Tim Allen, you need a reality check of what is considered funny today. Kevin Hart was appearing a few blocks away. Sure wish I would have traded for those tickets.

  • Super Foul Language

by Weebs on 7/25/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 2 out of 5

Mistakenly went into the evening thinking I had an idea of who Tim Allen was based on his roles as Tim the Toolman Taylor and Mike Baxter... boy was I surprised at his expletive-laced content. Man. Super bummed. My wife and I almost left part way though. Not offended by foul language, but just didn't really enjoy it. They had a 3-minute into montage of clips from Tim's various roles over the years and that was the highlight of the evening for me!

  • Lower your IQ to enjoy

by SJ on 7/25/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 2 out of 5

As a life long fan of Tim Allen I expected smarter more intellectually interesting comedy. The comedy was boring and childish. I only laughed three times throughout the entire show. He has the delivery it’s just the writing that is poor. Topics included race, politics, body functions, and genitalia. Come on Tim, you’re better than that.

His opener was great and so was he. Wasn’t sure what to expect but he was relatable and great! So glad we went!

  • Tim Allen's show was well worth the wait!

by Heritage Hill Jim on 7/20/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen has always been one of my favorite TV personalities, however I've never seen his live comedy. I purchased the tickets prior to the pandemic and had to wait a couple of years but it was worth it! I would recommend this show to anyone!

  • Really Lol’d

by Gratin on 7/20/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The warm-up act was funny start to finish. Tim was a little slow getting out of the gate but once he got going his stories all wove together and had us laughing our heads off. Super fun and great show.

  • Finally

by LD on 7/20/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

Actually liked Tim Allen’s warm up comedian better! Tim seemed to just be going thru the motions. It was his second performance of the night so maybe he was just done. I am NOT easily offended but was disappointed on his bit about special needs people, was true but not funny. I would have bought tickets to the earlier show, but it was added after I already bought tickets. Venue was nice, clean, well staffed although a bit warm up in the mezzanine.

by Jarhead on 7/20/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The headliner was amazing. Had me laughing the whole time. Great pauses between jokes and the delivery was right on. Tim Allen had me laughing the whole time as well. Had no idea he was so good as a comedian. I would highly recommend seeing him and look forward to seeing him again in GR in the future. The man is a comedy genius!

  • Lost our comic hero

by Comedy_fan on 7/20/22DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsRating: 1 out of 5

The opening act was hilarious and fun. The energy of the crowd was amazing. Tim came out and he was so angry and began venting. The mood in the room changed 180 degrees. He was the complete opposite of who he is on tv and movies. He said he prefers stand up comedy over making movies or tv. The reviews of his recent shows he may want to stick to movies and tv as that platform shows him more in a positive light. So sad to hear him say he hates kids especially after all the great movies he has done. Tim appeared to be very sad and not coping well with the the way our world is changing. My son who is a young adult said he just lost his favorite comic and stand up hero after the show. We were celebrating his birthday at the show.
