About

Tim Allen on Tour

However busy he may be as one of comedy's biggest stars on screens big and small, Tim Allen stays true to his stand-up roots. Audiences for his live performances are just as eager to show their appreciation for his warm, wry and sometimes wild take on life in America, raising families and getting older.

Allen has honed his signature brand of observational comedy since he began earning laughs in clubs in the mid '70s. One of the most iconic performers to emerge from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, he rose through the ranks in the '80s before finding fame on Home Improvement, his long-running ABC sitcom. His engaging and hilarious performances as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and hapless dad Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause led to two of Hollywood's most popular family-movie franchises. In 2011, he returned to television as the star of Last Man Standing, another hit sitcom that began its eighth season in 2020.

A series of live shows to promote his 2010 film Crazy on the Outside led to a renaissance for Allen's stand-up career and his first stand in Las Vegas since 1993. He continues to regularly perform in venues all over the US.

Who is Tim Allen?

A star at home on both screen and stage, Tim Allen has been a favorite of audiences ever since he broke out of the pack of future greats who found their voices at Los Angeles' iconic Comedy Store in the '80s.

Born in Colorado and raised in Michigan, Allen began his comedy career in clubs and on cable-access shows in the Detroit area in the mid '70s. After overcoming personal troubles and moving to Los Angeles, he soon became known for a sharp brand of observational humor that reflected his everyman perspective and was anything but politically correct. Allen found another means of showcasing his wry take on love, marriage and family life when his sitcom Home Improvement began its hugely successful run on ABC in 1991. His star rose higher with his performances in Toy Story and The Santa Clause, two big-screen family hits that spawned blockbuster franchises.

His other film credits include Christmas with the Kranks, Zoom, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. His two books Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and I'm Not Really Here were bestsellers. In 2011, he returned to television to star in Last Man Standing, another long-running hit sitcom. Allen continues to perform live for audiences throughout the US.

  • Disappointing

by Cliff & Jean on 1/10/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

We have been a Tim Allen fan since his early stand-up days (as presented on Showtime) and have enjoyed watching his characters evolve into wholesome, good comedy. Two prime examples are Mike Baxter from "Last Man Standing" and Scott Calvin from "The Santa Clause." However, we should have paid attention to the reviews before purchasing our tickets for the performance recently in North Charleston, SC. We laughed, but we were not prepared for what we were going to hear. The F-word was used repetitively, he made hateful, twisted comments about children and birth, and references to his belief in God were shaken by his overall, raunchy routine. The image we had of America's favorite dad and warm-hearted Santa were erased. It was a sad night, and we will miss The Tool Man!

  • Funniest Show EVER!

by FoxxySH on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Tim Allen definitely did not disappoint. He was fantastic. Haven’t laughed that hard at anyone ever. From start to finish, tears were running down my cheeks from laughing. Also refreshingly not political. His opening act was also great. Don’t miss this show.

  • HORRID

by Pamarazzi on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

Tim was foul, belligerent, seemingly angry, dark. If the EXTREME foul language and belligerence wasn't enough, he really wasn't funny except for a few handful of times. We were offended, shocked, in disbelief and down right ANGRY!!! If we weren't so deep in the middle of the row we would have got up and left in the first 10 minutes. If you can't find a word other than the F work 60% of your words you may just need to give up. To use the G.. D..... over and over and over was putridly UNACCEPTABLE!! Apparently Tim's writers made him funny on his shows. He was not only not funny but sadly pathetic. If we could get our time and our money back we would. HORRID AWFUL and NOT entertaining!!!!!!! If we could give ZERO stars we would.

Tim is one of my top 5 comedians until I saw him over the weekend. He was stiff, not funny and it was felt by the whole audiance. The man before him had more laughs than Tim. He just fell off my funny stool. I guess I like his writers and not him.

  • Tim Allen

by Beth on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Tim was great! I laughed so much I cried! Be advised that this is not your cute and cuddly Tim Taylor, Mike Baxter, Santa Claus, or Buzz Lightyear. This show is for adults. It is politically incorrect and laced with profanity. Tim tells it like it is and keeps his audience in stitches. My son and I had so much fun!

  • Great show

  • just okay

by nissanterri on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

I have seen TA before and loved him, but this show just didn't click with me. I love his character on Last Man Standing but i thought it was a character. This just didn't tickle my funny bone like i anticipated. I am 60 and took a 30 year old friend and she didn't love it either so i don't think it was that i am just too old. The venue as always was superb but scheduling as the same time as a hockey match also not a great idea.

  • Still Got It!

by BEST EVER! on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Tim had us howling with laughter! He's STILL got it! And the pre-show was REALLY good as well!

  • Wasn’t that great

by Americanbarbie on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

Tim Allen has always been known as the good guy on television. From his shows to his movies but his comedy show showed his true self. His filthy mouth cursing God in every other sentence about was too much to hear. The curse words were so overwhelming is was as if he really didn’t want to be there. For the amount of money he charged and the time he spewed his trash it was a rip off. But thankfully because he was so filthy I was glad it was a short show. The guy before him was much better. What a waste of good money. Lesson learned. He wasn’t my hero but the saying of never meet your hero because they’ll disappoint is so very true.

  • one star for the opening comic!

by Lynn on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

I'd put zero stars but the opening comic was pretty good. Tim Allen was absolutely lousy! If I wanted to sit and listen to my drunk uncle use the F word every other, then I'd call him, buy him some jack daniels and save my money! We left at around 10 minutes into his monologue. On a positive note, Allen's suit looked good.

  • Funny, enjoyed immensely

Had another comedian with him, funny as well. Tim Allen is so talented in his shows and Santa Claus movies. I enjoyed his comedy routine.

  • one time

by Camie on 1/9/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 2 out of 5

We always liked Tim, found out a lot about him. He was not the tool man we expected. Used a lot of rauncy language which was a little much.

  • Tim Allen 11/05/22

    by B. C. on 11/9/22The Mirage Theatre - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

We first saw Mr. Allen perform standup comedy in February 2022 at ASU Gammage. Me and my wife were very entertained by his act and when we found out he was performing again in Vegas we had to come again. Tim Allen has always been one of my favorite comedians growing up, and seeing him in person twice in the same year has been awesome and gotten some good laughs. Anytime Allen comes to Vegas or Arizona we will always book a showing!!!

  • Excellent Show

Tim Allen is a premier comic talent that never falls flat. Great show and extremely funny.

  • Worst Evening

    by D. K. on 9/21/22The Reno Ballroom - RenoRating: 1 out of 5

I’m sure the show would have been fantastic because We adore Tim Allen. The opening act was fantastic. But right after Tim Allen got on stag 8 of the most rude, obnoxious, drunk people came in late and was seated right behind us. The usher that was showing them to their seats kept shining the light in our face and laughing with them. Soon after the yelling and arguing started so I went to get security. 6 security came down and the arguing got worse. We couldn’t even hear what Tim Allen was saying. We were so upset and felt unsafe that we got up and left. Nothing was going to be funny at that point. Very disappointed when spoke to a Ticketmaster manage, that all he would say was sorry. No compensation what so ever. Buyer beware for tickets purchased at the Reno Ballroom. Staff and Security were horrible!!! I only gave it one star because I had to. I’m sure Tim Allen put on a great show, but we will never know. We waited months for the evening as the original show was postponed!!!
