This was a wonderful production of Thoroughly Modern Millie performed by local talent here in Boise. As professional as what one would expect from a traveling Broadway cast. The vocals were very strong and the orchestra was excellent. The stage backdrops were bright and very creative. We thoroughly (no pun intended) this performance.

About
Take a fun-filled ride to the heart of the roaring twenties with Thoroughly Modern Millie!
It’s the height of the jazz age, the roaring 20’s, and small-town girl Millie Dillmount has just arrived in New York City, ready to make her dreams come true.
Millie’s plan is simple: find a job as a secretary for an eligible bachelor, and then marry him. It doesn’t take long for Millie’s “thoroughly modern” plan to go awry. Her conniving landlady Mrs Meers plots to kidnap Millie’s best friend Dorothy and sell her into slavery. Her wealthy boss Trevor Graydon seems entirely uninterested in her flirtations, and – worst of all – Jimmy, the man with whom she falls head over heels in love, doesn’t have a penny to his name.
Annie Aitken stars as Millie. Her performance in Candide for Sydney Philharmonia Choirs was hailed as ‘a show-stopping tour-de-force’(SMH). Australia’s favourite leading lady, Marina Prior is Mrs Meers, Claire Lyon (Phantom of The Opera) is Miss Dorothy Brown, Queenie van de Zandt (King Kong) is Muzzy Van Hossmere, Adam-Jon Fiorentino (Aladdin) is Trevor Graydon, and Nigel Huckle (Hello, Dolly!) is Jimmy Smith. Also starring Keith Brockett, Jonathan Chan and Angela Scundi.
The winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film and was the 2002 season’s most awarded new show on Broadway.

by c. m. on 5/16/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseOverall it was pretty good. It seemed really long, I think it went over the 2.5 hours. There were several times it seemed lines were messed up. Thank you for the play and making it a free experience!

by j. w. on 5/15/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseThe performers were amazing talented individuals. The story line seemed rather slow to me. Would not consider this one of my top 10 choices for Music Week events.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Quality local talents in "Millie."
by Katzenmom on 5/14/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseIt had been a long time since I saw the movie version of this play. I didn't remember the "back story" about trafficking. That storyline was a bit unsettling, yet the actors were great. What a treat to have a live orchestra...with a female conductor! Kudos! There were some amazing vocalists in the show...no wonder...they're part of Opera Idaho! My favorite sequences were the dance numbers. Oh yes...there was a clever use of projected scenery shots. Thanks to all for another great Boise Music Week production.
Rating: 5 out of 5 I had a great time.
by Dorothy on 5/14/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseI liked the concept of pre-selecting my seats. I have attended Boise Music Week in the past and you had a ticket to get in but it was open seating. I loved that I had assigned seats. I enjoyed the play. The actors/actresses were great. Boise Music Week always provides excellent family entertainment.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Some good parts
by MomSangBass on 5/14/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseI thought the show was too long and slow. Many songs had too many verses that went on forever. The 2 lead ladies were very good actors and had fabulous voices, though. Some of the other acting was mediocre. However, I do appreciate all the time invested from the entire cast and crew to present a free show for everyone.
