    Fun time

by lr on 9/5/23Fort Worden - Port Townsend

Enjoyed this year's THING. Besides the music, I was pleased with the number and quality of the food choices available. Seemed to be less line ups at the bars this year. Better spacing between events?? Would be nice for some shaded areas scattered about, if possible. Thanks, hope you come back next year!

    Super fun, great music!

    by Katie on 8/30/23

I enjoyed all the artists who played live and appreciated the eclectic mix of music. The schedule was easy to follow and seemed to run mostly on time. I love that there is a “free area” with vendors and activities. I think there should be more seating near the food carts and maybe some at the back of the stage areas. Not very many resting spots for my elderly parents after all that walking. Also, if all the beers were $8 instead of $10, the workers would have gotten many many more tips. Very expensive for a tall can of cider.

    Inclusive and welcoming fun

    by TaytorsPrecious on 8/30/23

Second time coming to this festival and appreciated it even more. Took my kiddo this year and we had a blast. Very family friendly atmosphere and they loved all the sensory areas. Music selection was diverse and enjoyable at every turn. The people in attendance and staff were all very friendly.

So much fun for our whole family

    by KB on 8/30/23

The festival was amazing. An excellent mix of music for us 40 year olds and my 16 year olds. The venue felt safe and easy to navigate, not too crowded, so I never worried about the teens. My only complaint is parking. There was actually quite a bit of free street parking available, but we had already a bunch of money for a parking pass. The lot was a good 10 minute walk away with a shuttle only for mobility impaired that ran very infrequently. My free parking spots were minutes away from the main stage.

BEST MUSIC FESTIVAL IN THE NORTHWEST

    by jpag on 8/30/23

THING is the highlight of my summer. I always discover fantastic new music and get to hear some of my favorites live. It is just the right size with 2 main stages and several other venues. Port Townsend is a gem of a town and Fort Worden is close enough to walk in for shopping etc. and there are shuttles running every 15 minutes. Fort Worden on its own is a large, beautiful park with lots of walking trails, camping and beaches.

A Well Run Regional Gathering Near the Water

    by Murky on 8/30/23

This was an event i had been considering for a couple years. The mix of people from Seattle/elsewhere and more local was really good. Despite only having two main stages, there was good stuff to do in the smaller theaters on the day i went so one could plan out a unique day depending on their interests. One complaint was that if a person went back and forth between the main stages, they may have had their bags checked half a dozen times in a day, due to the layout. This and in some places a lack of recycling stations. I enjoyed the artists they brought very much. i hadnt heard of all of them, but was happy with every suggestion i got on who to check out. a blend of folksy and hype music, that meshed well with the atmosphere. Also, if you find yourself at the festival, take a half hour to visit the beach, just outside of the booth/ stage area.
