Don't buy a gift; give an experience. This year, The Washington Ballet celebrates 15 years of its very-DC version of The Nutcracker, through December 28 at the historic Warner Theatre in downtown Washington DC.
Set to Tchaikovsky's magical score, this celebrated production set in 1882 early Georgetown has become the signature Nutcracker in our nation's capital. The curtain rises and the audience is transported back in time to a Georgetown mansion, where party guests include Frederick Douglass, John Paul Jones, Harriet Tubman, Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. The Washington Ballet's iconic version is equal parts history lesson, mischief and humor. With General Washington as the heroic Nutcracker and George III as the Rat King, the story comes to life with over 100 dancers, intricate, stunning set designs and original custom costumes. Audiences will be captivated by stunning duets by Anacostia Native Americans and a springtime on the banks of the Potomac. Waltzing cherry blossoms, dancing cardinals and dancing sugar plums plus other enchanting adaptations make this unique production at the majestic Warner Theatre a special treat that continues to captivate audiences of all ages.
My family and I went to see the show on Christmas Eve. The Warner theater is beautiful and the perfect setting. The Washington Ballet’s Nutcracker was truly magical and couldn’t have been a better pick for the holiday experience. The performance is fun for all ages. The dancers are truly talented. The costumes and staging are top notch. I would highly recommend everyone to see this show!!

The Washington Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker is - by far - my favorite. Beautifully staged and performed, I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a holiday night out.
We saw the Nutcracker in DC at the Warner Theater just before Christmas. We go to a performance every year and we have seen several ballet companies. I was disappointed that there wasn't a symphony orchestra involved with this production, the music was played from a recording, so that was a bit of a downer. Costumes were good, the set was good, dancing wasn't bad, but I have seen better. I do enjoy the kids and their involvement in Nutcracker performances, that is always a highlight. We did enjoy the performance, and I like the Warner Theater for a performance hall.
my 1st time to see the NUTCRACKER, but the experience was quite out of my expectation. I mean high than what I thought. Although it's not original with some amendment, I guess, the 2nd part was kind confusing for me. Anyway, just enjoyed the moment and chilled. Besides, the seat I had was also a nice steal!
From beginning end this was a delightful experience! The dancing was graceful - and fun! The comedic portrayal of some of the characters - drunk grandpa and overzealous child acrobat - rounded out a wonderful rendition of the classic.

It was an easy experience searching for the tickets on this website purchasing them adding on Parking. I’ve done it plenty times for never had an issue and will continue to do so when I purchase any concert ticket or any other ticket I need to buy. The Nutcracker was absolutely fantastic. Something I will do again and again.
Parts of the show were terrific. But $ 105.00/ticket was way overpriced for the experience. Hopefully most of the money went to the ballet to continue its best efforts to encourage young people to participate.
The Warner Theatre was a great venue to watch the Nutcracker. It was so much fun. The costumes were amazing & the children in the production looked like they were having a really great time. I enjoyed this production especially the pas de deux.
I have been going every year and this year was spectacular. The skills and choreography of the dance were beautiful. We will continue to attend every year
We took our daughter to see the nutcracker for her 15th birthday on December 14th 2023. We got all dressed up and the experience was fantastic. The Warner theater is beautiful and an experience in itself. The ushers were great and fun and offered to take pictures and made intermission fun. The ballet itself was just excellent and the costumes were so beautiful. And the music oh the beautiful music! My daughter will never forget this experience. And we will back! Thank you for a wonderful time! Merry Christmas!
Absolutely stunning and such an excellent performance from everyone! You can see how hard the dancers work, their dancing is so flawless. I also loved the small twists that they brought to such a Christmas classic.
Althought the music was not live, it was perfect. The added extras made this performance unique. The merry-go-round, the extra dancing by the children along with comedy, the excellent performance by a male and female (twice) and even the balloon ride made this an event to remember.
very disappointed their performance. it was matinee on Sat. performance which was less performance than night crews and ticket price is very high for student level of performing. I'm afraid that I have a bad review for Washington Ballet crew and it should be FREE ticket show.

Bought the “cheapest” tickets that were too expensive anyway and could not see anything, not worth it
The Nutcracker Ballet at The Warner Theater was magical. Our 6 year old daughter experienced this for the first time and could not take her eyes off the stage. We will be attending next year. Amazing show in an iconic DC landmark!
This is a stellar show! An iconic DC tradition. Great dancing, music, costumes, sets and lighting. I always love to see a Rat King death. Just awesome dancing. I also love the location of this theater. So close to Metro, also ample parking options and restaurants. Would definitely recommend!
Enjoyed myself. Truly. But no live orchestra at those prices? Come on, this is Washington DC! Hate to be a curmudgeon but a tape recording diminishes the final product
