About

The Tenors on Tour

Although The Tenors' sound is a combination of classical and pop, the group's concerts are impossible to pigeonhole. Their setlists have been known to include everything from Motown classics to Beatles hits, to renditions of "Agnus Dei" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." No matter what style The Tenors lend their voices to, it's the power of those pipes that has fans around the world coming back to their performances. Each member of the group is a world-class vocalist on his own terms, and as they trade off on lead vocals, it only becomes more clear. But when their voices combine, they add up to even more than the considerable sum of their parts. Between The Tenors' unbridled eclecticism, out-of-this-world vocal chops and sheer stage presence, it's nearly impossible to walk out of one of their concerts unmoved.

The Tenors in Concert

The Tenors were born out of a vision to combine the best of operatic material with pop, presented by singers possessed of both flawless technique and intense emotion. The lineup has changed since they started, but the mission remains the same. The group first came together in 2004 in Victoria, BC, and early on they were known as The Canadian Tenors, but their moniker changed when it became clear that they could appeal to audiences far beyond their national borders. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2005, though it was the follow-up (also self-titled) that really put them on the map, hitting both the classical and pop charts in the U.S. as well as Canada. Since then, these Canucks have become virtual citizens of the world, playing the most prestigious venues all over the planet, and appearing on television everywhere from PBS to the BBC.

  • Lift your spirits!

by Quiltie on 6/16/13State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

If you want your spirits to soar, your heart to sing, your smile to be wide, your tears to fall, you must see and hear The Tenors perform! I happened upon their PBS special and heard only one song: Nessum Dorma. I knew then that I had to see them in person. What I didn't know was how beautifully they sing every other song in their repertoire. Every song, every note, every movement was graceful and sweet and strong and beautiful. Please treat yourself to a night of fine music sung (and played) by gifted young men.. The performance was breathtaking. We lost count of the standing ovations! I am a new, dedicated fan and wish The Tenors much success. May you never lose your ability to lift our spirits and may you always keep your humility.

This is the 2nd concert I've attended of this group. They just keep getting better. Each has a distinct sound but all four have beautiful, clear voices. Their harmonies are wonderful. I enjoy the mix of classical and contemporary songs

  • The Tenors - a wonderful evening!

by KRSDM on 6/12/13Des Moines Performing Arts - Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 4 out of 5

The Tenors performed a really fine concert! As is often my complaint in that venue, the instrumentals were frequently overpowering, but the vocals were really good! I'll hear them again if they make a return visit.

  • The Tenors -- a gift from the heart

by Nashuagirl on 6/11/13Des Moines Performing Arts - Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The voices of these men is golden. Which is why they appear before the Queen and even in the heart of the Midwest they gave everything they had to the audience on a Sunday night. It was an amazing show with excellent song choices. Each of them is so talented and passionate about their gift to sing the music and connect the message of the lyrics to the audience. Young and old will enjoy their music and their charm. Please bring them back to Des Moines --- ASAP.

The Tenors did not disappoint their audience. I don't remember so many standing ovations at a concert. They were humorous as well as entertaining. I enjoyed the personal information they shared. Their selection of songs was fantastic. Hallelujia and The Prayer were amazing. The band was excellent.

This show was one of the best shows I have ever seen. These men have incredible talent and need to be known the world around! Laughter, tears, heart pounding, eyes widening vocal talent and they are not bad to look at either! I took my mom for her Mother's day gift and she said that was the best show she has ever seen and thanked me a million times.

  • Canadian Tenors even better in person

by Mogulmary on 6/11/13Des Moines Performing Arts - Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

It was nice to have a one-on-one with each of the tenors, it made it more personal especially for those who did not know their backgrounds. It also gave them the opportunity to showcase their individual strengths.

  • Tenors--better than expected

We saw the Tenors for the first time on IPTV, DVRed their performance at Las Vegas, watched that 100's of times, bought their cd, listened to that 1000 times, and now to see them in person.....WOW. What great guys, what wonderful singers, and kudos to their backup musicians-amazing.

  • Spectacular!

But for Iowa Public Television I would not have known about The Tenors and that would be unfortunate. What a show they put on! They connected so well with the audience and that was an added bonus.

  • GREAT FOR THE MIDWEST AUDIENCE

by OKTENORS on 6/11/13Des Moines Performing Arts - Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 4 out of 5

The show was good, but could have been great...if they had performed at least one song without the background music (acapella)!

  • Amazing!

This was the most amazing concert I have ever been to! My kids also loved it and said it even topped Lion King! I loved their music and performance but they also did solos, which helped you connect to them individually. Great entertainment for the whole family!
