Three-time Grammy Award winning hip hop legends The Roots have released ten albums and recorded with some of the biggest names in the music business. Their influence reaches far beyond the hip-hop world, though, as their recent collaborative tour with old-school post-punk rocker, Elvis Costello, proved. While their recordings continue to earn praise and awards, it’s in concert that The Roots really display their chops. Ticket holders to one of their shows are treated to a lesson in hip-hop that shows off the genre’s history and scope, with elements of jazz, rap, funk and even metal. There’s a reason The Roots are often called the best live act in hip-hop, and Rolling Stone magazine goes one better, calling the band one of the 20 greatest live acts in the world.
The Philadelphia-based band formed in 1987 and were mostly an underground act, playing local clubs and small venues. Their first album, "Organix," was recorded to sell at live shows. Though they were not very well-known when they joined the 1994 Lollapalooza tour, the crowd response was huge, and The Roots have been gaining momentum ever since. The group’s third album, "Things Fall Apart," was their breakthrough album, reaching the Billboard Top 10 and ultimately going platinum. The Roots are best known to TV viewers as the house band for Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show, but they still find time for what they do best: live concerts. The Roots continue to stay true to their literal roots.
A beautiful evening, great setting and an amazing performance by The Roots. My only complaint would be the venue needs more water stations for the crowd, especially on a hot night. I had to wait 40 minutes at a food truck just to get a few bottles of water.
Absolutely awesome experience!! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to see them. Go for it!!
The Roots put on one of the best shows I’ve seen from them! The venue is perfect! Bravo Harrisburg University and Harrisburg City for putting our city back on the map for live music!

Buying off of ticketmaster was very easy! The venue was very clean and the COVID19 restrictions were very reasonable, so I did not feel unsafe about my health. Obviously The Roots were incredible!! Would definitely check out tickets at this venue again.
I enjoyed the concert, the amenities, and the venue. However, I was charged for VIP Parking and it was open parking throughout, not need to charge VIP Parking there were no signs or special accommodations for VIP.
The Roots are the PREMIERE band of our time! Their musical talent and coordination is second to none. I appreciate the Promoters, the venue or the artists that decided to require Vaccination Verification! I felt safe and had an incredible time.
Great show even better they required negative Covid-19 results or proof of vaccination.

I go to the House of Blues to see The Roots every year. I must say that this year was different than the previous years. I never got a chance to stop dancing,recording video,or screaming words to their songs. They played all of my favorite songs! Hands down, the best show yet. I hope that they continue to bring this intensity. I will also say that opening artist was also really good this year.
The Roots never fails to put on a fantastic show. We go every year. We were deprived last year because there were no shows due to Covid. Will definitely be back when they return!!!
Wow. Literally the best show I’ve been to in a while, and I don’t mean that because of COVID. Literally the best. Thoroughly enjoyed the space and the band- it felt intimate yet a complete show. Excellent, will definitely be back!

The Roots are one of the best bands out there. I’ve seen literally hundreds of shows, and rarely have I seen a group with such amazing chemistry. I didn’t even know any of their songs going in, just went on their reputation. And they didn’t disappoint!

Concert was very good. However the sound system was a bit distorted and not balanced. Despite having front row seats (behind the mixing board and floor-standing room only area) the vocals were almost impossible to make out most of the time. The vibe was great but it was unfortunate that vocals were not able to be heard.
