About

The Rock Orchestra By Candlelight are a band of classical musicians from the United Kingdom who transform rock and metal songs into dark symphonies. The group of 14 musicians regularly performs concerts bathed in an ethereal candlelit glow as they turn songs by AC/DC, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Linkin Park and more into swirling, dark rhapsodies that bridge the chasm between metal, hard rock and classical music. In 2024, The Rock Orchestra will embark on a tour of their native U.K. as well as Europe and the U.S. to present their thrilling new 90-minute show.

I highly recommend attending the Rock Orchestra by Candlelight. We didn’t know what to expect but we were entertained throughout the entire show. I wish it was longer. All of the musicians are very talented. It was such a neat crossover of music genres.

I came to Boise for a two week family vacation and this was one event I wanted to catch with my niece. The show was fantastic!! Every musician was incredibly talented and the female vocalist was quite the entertainer. So blessed to see the show. Wish it was coming to Alaska, where I live, cause I'd definitely go again!!! Bravo!!!

My granddaughter and I both enjoyed the Rock Orchestra show. As a first year orchestra player, tt was an inspiration for her to see what is possible.

We were not sure what to expect - we had not heard of Rock Orchestra before, but were intrigued by the concept. Now we're hooked! We would absolutely see them again!

  • Good music and performance

by AA on 4/26/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 4 out of 5

The music and the performers were fun and great quality. Some songs sounds just a little off with these instruments, but overall it was impressive, especially the System if a Down songs. The crowd seemed subdued and it would have been fun to have a section for standing/dancing but we were all old people, so it makes sense why we all had seats.

  • We had a blast!

by KatieS on 4/26/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 5 out of 5

I didn’t know what to expect from The Rock Orchestra, because I didn’t look them up prior, but it sounded like a fun idea. I love the Morrison Center because there really are no bad seats. We had seats in the middle of the lower mezzanine and they were great! I was very impressed by The Rock Orchestra and their energy and talent. It was a lot of fun hearing rock music from my childhood and my parents’ childhood in a really creative, refreshing way! The Morrison Center staff were really helpful, but since I have been to many events here, I didn’t need help with seating. I would definitely see The Rock Orchestra again and will always come back to the Morrison Center!

The band name and overview, Rock Orchestra by candlelight, was all I knew about the show. The stage was goth-themed with skulls and candlelight. Then they hit the stage and started playing covers of all the rock songs I knew. And playing classical instruments no less. The light show and stage effects were awesome. A few of the songs they also had male and/or female vocalists. They were great and a welcomed accompaniment to the band and the song. Show was entertaining and fun with lots of energy. I reccomend seeing this show and give it 5 stars.

What a rad experience. The show was so good, the musicians were outstanding… the violinist?? My gawd. The venue… so good. Shows like this need to be shown in every elementary school to get kids interested in band.
