Everything was seamless, easy and fun. My kids had a blast, even though it was a little crowded on the ice when we first arrived. I thought two hours seemed like a long window, but it ended up being perfect. We were very happy there weren’t any lines. Everything was tidy and organized. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bathrooms were spotless. We didn’t take advantage of any food or drink items, but will next time.
Reading about skating at Red Hat is great; going there and skating is a let down. The rink is small, crowded, the drinks are expensive, and the atmosphere lack luster. Overall, this is an expensive afternoon with little to be excited about especially since you can skate at Fenton or downtown Cary for a lot less.
This was a great spot and super fun but there were too many people there to really enjoy ice skating. If there had been maybe 10-15 less people, it would have been more enjoyable. They did a great job getting you in and getting your ice skates and the igloos looked super cute. Would have given 5 stars if they had less people!
From age 6 to 83, the rink and the igloos made for the perfect full family holiday outing. Everyone had a wonderful time, skating, spectating, and snacking.
Overall it was a fun time. However the rink is too small for the amount of people and it’s hard to even skate because it is so crowded. Also the ice is not maintained so by the time you go at 8:00pm the ice is awful for skating. This is the second year we’ve been and I felt like last year was better.
Decorations were beautiful. The igloos looked super cute! .Mu daughter skates and wasn't a fan of the size of the ice rink or the rental skates. We would definitely bring her own next time. There were too many skaters on the rink so it felt very crowded.
We had a lot of fun. The rink should be larger and they should have more helpers for kids and rookie skaters. Other than that, it was fun.
Didn’t stay more than 30 mins. Tiny rink. Way too many people. Both my girls have skated on other rinks with rental skates and had no problems. These skates were awful and they could barely skate. EVERYONE was hanging onto the side and inching around the ring. Or worse, just standing on the ice by the railing and chatting up their friends on the outside, so no one could get by. Total waste of money. If your kids want to go ice skating, visit a complex, spend the same amount of money (maybe less), and it’ll be a much better experience.
The venue was nice but the rink was extremely small for the amount of people. Bigger rink or less people would be better.
Loved it. Kids loved it. First time Ice-skating and would like to make it a December into Christmas tradition. Playing Christmas songs gave it more of that feel. Looking into going again before it's over.
This event is so beautifully done. From the seamless flow of entry and setup to the lighting, music, igloos, it’s perfect. We enjoy it so much more than other ice skating opportunities in our area because a limited amount of tickets are sold so it doesn’t get over- crowded. We will be back every year!
The rink was too small for the number of tickets sold, making the overall skating experience poor. It was virtually impossible to move without bumping into someone else.
The rink was a nice experience. The ice was melting and the skate rentals really needed a sharpening. The rink was a small but decent size. But for southerners to skate for their first time, I was happy share the experience
This is a neat idea but would not go for the ice skating. Rink is much smaller than anticipated and was PACKED. No room to really skate. Plus, it was a warm day and there was lots of melting on the ice. Also, the rink had a lot of tree seeds that had fallen on the rink and then been frozen into the ice so it made for a very bumpy rink, feeling quite unsafe. I did go on a Sunday which, I am sure, contributed to the crowd but I would not go back.
Went for a 2:30-4:30 time slot. The ice was extremely bumpy, which made it very challenging for novice skaters. Given that the rink is small, it would be nicer with fewer people and with someone monitoring for reckless skaters. The holiday decorations and music were a nice way to start the season.
It was nice and my child had fun. But wish it could be more things to need be added. Like snow tubing, have area were fake snow falling. More food trucks. Santa out there for kids take pictures
This was a fun event and a good value at less than $20/person for two hours. I wish the rink was a little larger - it got a bit crowded - and the skates were a little more comfortable, but I'd definitely take my family again next year.
Had a great time ice skating at the rink with my friends! The christmassy music and the twinkling lights all added to the atmosphere. My only complaint was that it was a little too crowded so maybe we could limit the amount of tickets we sell for each session? The food trucks were great. Had some chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, pretzels and hot chocolate. While the food was moderately priced, I thought the hot chocolate at $12 was expensive! Also, when we first got to the rink, my partner could not get skates in his size 10 because everyone was the same size and it was crowded. He was told that he’d get a refund if they didn’t get skates for him before the end of the 2 hour session. They did eventually get skates for him an hour later so he could only skate for an hour but he still enjoyed himself. They compensated his one hour with a hot chocolate which was thoughtful so thank you! Overall, we came with a large group of friends and all had an incredible time!
Once we got on the ice, it was a great holiday experience for the family. Most of the staff members were friendly and attentive. That being said, the Ticketmaster experience was awful. I felt better, having young children in our group, buying tickets in advance. I had to go through a lot of hoops to complete the purchase, and then got an error when trying to produce the tickets at the booth. The employee at the booth was frustrating, trying to talk to me through two masks without the microphone turned on. The first session started at noon; they would not scan anyone through until 12:01. Then, plan to wait in another line to get skates and produce your electronic ticket yet again (with no warning that you'd need to do that!) It was enjoyable for all once we got on the ice!
I went with my brothers while home for Thanksgiving. It was so fun! Great atmosphere.
