It was fun

Me and my wife had been looking forward to this event for over a month and the fact that we were able to go was a near miracle. As we expected, 90% of the people skating were children and the ice was very overcrowded for an event that had supposedly been limited to a certain capacity, but we still had a good time. I would not recommend this being the first place you try ice skating as there are a ton of children falling all over the place that could get hurt if you can't maneuver around them. No need to be a pro to enjoy yourself though. I clearly am not.
The number of tickets sold definitely exceeded the capacity for skaters on the ice. The rink is small and there were so many people that you could barely move. Not safe with so many first timers falling everywhere, not to mention Covid.
Very small rink, the size was a bit disappointing, it wasn't worth it to drive there but i rather saw it more as a neighborhood event.
My family went on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful evening! It was decorated so nicely and everything was set up perfectly! I hope we can go back next year! :)
What a great time! Everything was wonderful, great atmosphere just walking down into amphitheater. Snow machines were a great touch and very prettily decorated. Smooth experience start to finish. Only confusing moment was buying tickets online since the only time slot said noon but these are open time for anytime that day
It was a great experience downtown! Very cute, easy to get in and skate around, not too crowded. We also had great help with customer service prior to the event with some help on a ticket mixup. 10/10 would go next year if they bring it back. Hope they could even make it a little bigger, since I know it was very popular.
We had an amazing time at The Rink! The atmosphere and staff were amazing! I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone!
Good idea but way too crowded and the rink is way too small. So many little ones you’d run into.
It was so much fun, decorations were beautiful! Thanks for doing this, makes the Holiday's even better. The only thing that would have made it 100% was a little more staff overview of the skaters. Was great until approx 5 younger boys were racing around the rink making it dangerous for all the novice skaters. I quit skating for fear of being knocked down. There are too many skaters to have some using the rink as a race. Thanks again.
The event was great. Organized, not too crowded, plenty of skates and plenty of seating when needed. Concessions were good, too. Festive music and decorations. Thanks for a memorable evening!
Such a great evening. Really lovely atmosphere with snack and drinks. Felt like a Hallmark movie setting. The rink isn't huge but well groomed. Will look forward to going again next year!!
It was our 1st time ice skating & we had a blast. No lines & the staff was very friendly.
8 grandkids and 8 happy faces! Planning to go again!
I purchased tickets in advance as it was recommended to do so. However when we got there, there were so many people that they had run out of skates and the rink was so crowded that even if we had skates I don’t think we could have gotten in. The only saving grace was the food truck they had there, Fired Up, which was absolutely delicious. We stayed an hour and a half and never skated. We just ate pizza and played cornhole and said, well, we’ll never do this again.
Excited to have a local outdoor rink for holidays! While small, nice to take some spins around as the sun set. Picturesque, beautiful lights, great fire pit areas, food truck and concessions available. Great for families and friends or holiday date nite. Not a lot of room if want space to jump and spin but charming setting on heart of downtown.
The rink was way too small for the amount of people that were allowed on it. The only thing that was nice was the decorations outside of the rink and the sitting areas outside of the rink as well. But for people like me that like to skate, it was a nightmare.
On a Saturday afternoon there were too many people and too few skates for those who needed them. Tickets need to be for specific times and limited to the number the rink can accommodate. The sound system was good but the crowded conditions spoiled the experience. Some of my party never even got into the rink waiting for skates.
There should be a set number of tickets for an hour time slot. This was too busy to be enjoyable. Teens cutting off little kids in a super small space, beginners and those trying to learn. All which is fine at a larger open rink but when they’re all squeezed into a tiny rink it’s a recipe for injury.
This was extremely fun & a great idea for Raleigh during the holidays however, my group purchased tickets for 5 o’clock & we stood in line for over an hour, we didn’t get in untill around 6:15 kind of ridiculous. You need to give out colored wristbands and give everyone an hour increment so ppl aren’t standing in line that long.
