THE RECORD COMPANY IN CONCERT:

LA-based blues rock outfit The Record Company has opened for everyone from B.B. King and Buddy Guy to Social Distortion and Grace Potter, but the band's acclaimed 2016 debut album Give It Back To You made clear what their loyal fans already knew: these guys were born to headline. Since the record's release the talented trio has topped Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart with their single "Off the Ground" and wowed on their first headlining tour with no-nonsense sets that put their impressive rock chops front and center. In concert they combine twangy slide guitar and driving distorted bass with elemental drumming that gives their songs serious rhythmic heft. Their palette is minimal, but it's the perfect foundation for singer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Vos, whose soulful voice and self-aware lyrics imbue the band's tunes with arresting emotional complexity. In the wake of their acclaimed debut The Record Company has wind in their sails, and fans can't help but get caught up in the excitement any time they kick out their bluesy brand of rock and roll.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Record Company formed in Los Angeles in 2011 and spent their early days writing and recording in the living room of bassist Alex Stiff. They self-released a few 7" singles and an EP of covers in 2012, including a version of The O'Jays' "Love Train" that was featured in a Coors Light commercial. TV placements on shows like USA's Suits and CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation followed, and by 2014 they were performing at major festivals across the country and touring in support of legends like Brian Setzer and Trombone Shorty. Following a 2015 European tour in support of Blackberry Smoke, The Record Company made their full-length album debut with Give It Back To You. The record was a critical and commercial success, spawning the hit single "Off the Ground" and drumming up major excitement for their first headlining tour.

by Vince on 2/4/24Bowery Ballroom - New York

The Record Company did not disappoint. They rocked the Ballroom from beginning to end. They were much tighter than the last time I saw them and they were tight then. If your an old time Rock and Roller do not miss them the next time they come to town

    True rock and roll!

by Jen W on 2/4/24Bowery Ballroom - New York

This 3 piece group has a soulful rock and roll sound that just warms your heart. I have never seen a band with such a fan base following as them. They perform in smaller venues so every concert is intimate. These guys love their fans and listen to what we want to hear as well as gain relationships. This is their 4th album and just when you think it can't get any better,well...it does! They are catagorized as contemporary blues but as they say at every concert, they are rock and roll. If you haven't heard of them and want to give them a listen start with "Rita Mae Young". From their current album, "Talk to Me"is getting a lot of play but also give a listen to "Highway Lady". YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! I just enjoyed shows #21 and 22 and looking forward to many more!

I started listening to the record company more and saw they had a show at Bowery ballroom and figured why not buy a ticket. The band was great. They get super into the show and are fun with the crowd. They put on a great performance. As good as it is to listen to them seeing them live is even better

Not Enough Words to Describe This Band

by Renee on 1/24/24White Oak Music Hall - Downstairs - Houston

I wish I could write well to give this group all the accolades they so deserve, but I’ll give it a go. After listing to the same rock music for the last 50+ years, I was on a mission to find new music and came across The Record Company a couple of years ago. When the concert date came, it was my typical Saturday thinking…I want to stay home as it’s cold outside and would love to watch some Netflix in bed as my husband wanted to finish the football game, a million excuses, but we had purchased the tickets and were committed. I expected to enjoy an evening out listening to a ‘new to me’ band with a few songs I was familiar with at the very least but was not prepared to be teleported back to 1980 with reminiscent feelings of seeing AC/DC for the first time at a similar small venue. From the first note the band drew everyone in with their infectious rhythms while Chris totally immersed us with his powerful stage presence, musicianship, and interaction with the audience. Loved the bass players vibe and the drummer’s perfect rhythm which makes it even more unbelievable that this is just a group of 3 great musicians. Those around us were just as in awe as we were hearing their comments as the band played like there was a crowd of 10,000 giving it their all to the 200-300 people there. No flashing light show or dancers here, just an unbelievably authentic blues rock show I haven’t seen in a long while. I will hopefully never have to miss this group when they come through town on the next round. Fan for life!

    Ok show

by Stroker on 10/31/23Fillmore Minneapolis presented by Affinity Plus - Minneapolis

The Record Company was a little disappointing. The music just didn't jazz me up. The venue was the Fillmore in Mpls. It looked ok, but nothing special. The worst part of the night was paying $44 before tip for two drinks. OMG! That takes the fun out of an evening.

    A really good show

by First Time Fillmore on 10/31/23Fillmore Minneapolis presented by Affinity Plus - Minneapolis

I just discovered The RecordComany a few years ago. I'm 65 and love bluesy rock and roll so I became a fan right away. These guys killed it! The place was not packed so it was easy to get close to the stage and easy access to the bar. It was a great concert and a great venue. I would definitely go to back to Fillmore Minneapolis to hear any bands that I like. My only issue is that I'm not as young as I once was and it would have helped me to have a place to sit down now and then.
