THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express

The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

  • Best Phantom Ever

by LoveCT on 2/10/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Phantom at least 6 times. This production was the best I have ever seen. The woman who played Christine was phenomenal. Looking for tickets to see it again before it closes.

  • Excellent Phantom of the Opera performance

by sukayser on 2/10/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed this performance. The staging was quite different from the usual set, and worked very well on this stage. The interpretation of characters was also different; Raoul came across as a spoiled rich kid, and if Christine preferred him, well, any young girl would go for a rich, handsome, titled, young man, especially a childhood friend. We also liked some of the changes, such as having the Phantom reprise the Masquerade song briefly at the end.

  • Phantom was amazing

A beautiful, beautiful show. The cast was outstanding. Had me in tears several times.

  • Second time, poor

    by showlover1000 on 2/10/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

It was our second time but liked the first production lot more. This cast, stage craft wasn't great like the first one and even the most dramatic fall of chandelier was dud. Many scenes were just dragging and boring, the intensity was missing. This peroduction is poor, not worth at all.

  • Phantom was Perfect!

by BFFBWACCEL on 2/10/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Words cannot express how amazing this show was. The cast, lighting, staging, everything was perfect! And the theater is absolutely gorgeous!

  • " Phantom of the Opera "

by tinalis on 2/10/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This is an excellent production. The costumes, orchestra, lighting, and sets, deserve 5 stars. The actress- singer, who played the role of Carlotta, was the best we have ever seen. We have seen 6 productions. The only complaint we have, is the awkward, badly directed scene between the " Phantom, Christine, and Raoul, " at the end. The Phantom's shuffling towards Christine was embarrassing to watch. The moment was spoiled. That entire scene has to be tweaked. Also, the cemetery cross was moving.

  • Unbelievably good production!

by Qusujo on 2/9/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The seats were great. The music was the best. Loved the sets and how they all worked together. High quality production. A must see. One of the best Phantom productions we have ever seen!

  • A Must See Phantom Production

by snagbatz on 2/9/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We've seen this production three times. The first was years ago in Chicago, then at the Marriott Lincolnshire and now again at the Cadillac Palace in Chicago. Obviously this is a show that we love. This was by far the best of the three....(although they all were excellent) I recommend the current Chicago production without reservation!!

Must watch performance, incredible experience. The theatre is awesome too, first time visitor :)

Lovely set. Often tho, I could not understand the lyrics and the orchestra seemed too loud. I've seen Phantom several times beforehand other theaters and felt the. Sound was much better than the Cadillac. Too bad as the music is usually so beautiful. Acting was fine.

Facility was beautiful. Ushers were available every so many feet to help you quickly find your seat. The show was excellent! Even in the top balcony seats we could see and hear everything clearly. The sets were particularly impressive.

Music and story line unchanged from original production. Voices were excellent. Staging was simpler but very enjoyable.

  • PHANTOM IS AMAZING!

Phantom is amazing, beautiful and very well done!!

  • Phantom

    by RetiredTeacher04 on 2/8/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This show was good, had many cool effects, but I prefer the original staging - especially the descent into the sewer, the phantom coming through the mirror, the "Masquerade" number and the final scene.

  • Good, but NOT great...

    by JJCAR69 on 2/8/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I can always forgive scaling down sets for a touring production...the Phantom started out weak and got better in the 2nd Act...Christine and Raoul have GREAT voices but lacked the needed chemistry to connect with the songs...I was disappointed with the Masquerade staging....it lacked the drama to convey the scene...

  • by Anonymous on 2/8/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Acting was not great. Sing-talking was annoying, and love connections were not believable. The two leading women had amazing vocal range

  • Phantom was fantastic ....

by Kindamara on 2/8/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

It was 1997 when I first saw Phantom of the Opera at the Lyric Opera House. Seeing it a second time brought back a lot of the memories from that first time. The music, acting and story just in and of itself are well worth seeing.
