THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express

The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

  • Phantom was amazing!

by Nordiska on 2/28/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Four of us went to see "The Phantom of the Opera" and loved it! The sets and costumes were fantastic and we loved the casting - except we agreed that Raoul was not cast that well. In this particular production, Raoul seemed aggressive and even agitated - a gentler personality (like in the movie) would have been a much nicer contrast to the Phantom - who we already know is a tormented, somewhat angry soul. We also prefer a tenor to play the role of Raoul - it would've helped make him come across gentler and more believable in his caring for Christine. Other than that, LOVED IT!!! Did not want the evening to end - it was wonderful!

  • Phantom was awesome!!!!

by Hogatear on 2/28/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Seats were supposedly limited viewing and the only reason would be the woman with HUGE hair two rows in front of us, otherwise it would have been perfect ,

  • Beautiful production!

I was excited to introduce my 22 year old daughter to the live performance of "Phantom of the Opera". I last saw it before she was born. A beautiful production with stage scenery that was well done. The performances were excellent; superb voices. We would have seen it a second time if it had been here a little longer. If sitting on the main floor, make sure your seats are not below the mezzanine overhang. "Phantom" should be seen with no encumbrances.

  • Phantom of the Opera

by andresikes on 2/28/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent singing. Staging and scenery were fabulous and most creative. Tremendous acoustics and very full sound coming from a minimal orchestra. With only a few exceptions the characterizations of the actors were most engaging.

  • Phantom show was real good

    by Chilidog73 on 2/28/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the show very much. Our seats in left dress circle were less than good though. Guess you get what you pay for. The view of the stage was alright, but having to look around people's heads made for a less than perfect review. They were not tall people either. The seats are just positioned poorly. I was most impressed with the new sets and props. I had seen phantom before about 15 or so years ago. The music and the singing was fantastic. Only thing was, to me, the phantom's voice was not as powerful as I thought it should have been. Don't get me wrong, he did an excellent job. Just a stronger voice needed IMO. Otherwise, fantastic! Don't miss it. Buy the best seats you can afford.

Phantom of the Opera was so good! Everyone should see it!

  • Wonderful play!

    by yellorose5 on 2/28/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This play was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The special effects, the sets, the actors and actresses, the singing, all was complete top notch. I was in awe and enjoyed it tremendously. I took my daughter to the play for her 16th birthday and we had front row seats, she loved the play as well. We both enjoyed it tremendously and would see it again and again.

  • Restaged Phantom of the Opera - Not Good

by markinil on 2/27/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

Having seen Phantom of the Opera 8 times, I was looking forward to this new, restaged version. Unfortunately, the grandeur that was the Phantom, is now gone. While there was some clever new staging, this version is much smaller and looks ready to move to the high school stage. The previous spectacular opening of this musical, is now almost comical. If you have not seen the original version of Phantom, you will no doubt enjoy this version. However, if this version was the original, it would have closed on Broadway 10 years ago.

  • Great production

    by stever6000 on 2/27/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

A really great production. The scenery was first class. The whole production flowed seamlessly. The actors were wonderful and the singing was great. The only complaint was that sometimes the count's voice was a little too soft and was obscured by the orchestra. Highly recommended!

  • PTO Phantom of the Opera

    by Jazz8 on 2/26/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Beyond amazing! I laughed, cried and was shocked in a good way. The effects were outstanding & loved the little changes in lyrics of some songs. Great job!! Wish I could see it again!

  • Frenetic

by WOWWWWWWW on 2/26/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

If you saw Andrew Lloyd Weber's Phantom, you should not waste your money on this version. There is no comparison. I titled this review "frenetic" because that's what it was. Just a bunch of actors running around the state frantically. We brought our 13 y/o daughter and really talked the show up to her. After, we apologized and explained it was nothinglike we saw years ago. A real disappointment!

  • The phantom music

Great seats, Theatre has cozy atmosphere, cant imagine any seats really having poor view...I would highly recommend Phantom of the Opera to anyone. If you are not a theater goer or normally would not go see any play, this is the one that will win you over!

  • Amazing production!

This was the best production that we have seen. The stagework, music, and acting were all incredible!

  • Mesmerizing....truly engrossing!

    by Bieberfanforever5 on 2/26/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

From the second the curtain went up we were enthralled. Singing was lovely and the story was great. Even though this adaptation is different than when we went several years ago, it was as good as I remembered.

  • very good production

by jkasp on 2/26/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

very well done performance, great vocals, great stages and sets and costumes

  • Phantom - great sets but a true classic??

    by ejensen86 on 2/26/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The set design is FANTASTIC and the reason to see this play. The costumes were also very good. The story is interesting but I'm at a bit of a loss to see why it's considered to be such a classic. There's no interesting twist. The story doesn't grab and hold you. The person who played Christine was very good. The best song of the night was 'Masquerade'.

  • Phantom of the Opera - Fantastic Production

by mclrt on 2/26/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Phantom of the Opera had memorable moments, but was a little slow in parts for some audiences. I went with my mother, an 18, 14 and 12 year old. They all enjoyed it fairly well. Some good parts, but some parts dragged a bit

  • Phantom scores!

Absolutely, a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire production. A great way to spend a cold day in February, in Chicago.
