THE OAK RIDGE BOYS IN CONCERT:
The Oak Ridge Boys' timeless country and gospel classics may date back to the World War II era, but the band is still a force to be reckoned with in the 21st century. Their showmanship is unstoppable -- whether they're playing oldies like "Elvira" or the smash-hit "Leaving Louisiana In the Broad Daylight," they always keep the energy high at their live shows with perfect harmonies and tight fingerpicking. It's been over 50 years since the Oak Ridge Boys first performed together, and their voices are still sharp as ever as they treat fans to their gospel-infused country tunes on the 2014 Boys Night Out tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The Oak Ridge Boys' founding member Wally Fowler started the band in 1949, recruiting an existing group called the Calvary Quartet to perform with him as the Oak Ridge Quartet. As a nod to their country gospel roots, the quartet changed their name to the Oak Ridge Boys, and their career took off from there. The group has had several personnel changes over the course of their tenure, but that hasn't stopped them from producing hit after hit during their decade-spanning career. The Oak Ridge Boys have released 31 studio albums -- a number of which have reached gold certification or higher -- and over 30 Top 10 singles, an enormous feat for the world-renowned country quartet. With numerous Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM Awards under their belt, the Oak Ridge Boys are truly a one-of-a-kind act. After over 60 years of touring together, the group is set to delight fans once again with a string of highly anticipated shows.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"They played to sold out theater and what a great show they put on. They get better with every show, looking forward to seeing them again!"
"The Oak Ridge Boys are still so good and brought back so many memories. Absolutely loved them!!!"
"Cannot believe what incredible voices they have. They really give you your money's worth. I've seen the Oak Ridge Boys so many times and can't believe what a show they put on!"
Very good show. Would go to see them anytime they are close.
The Oak Ridge Boys were great in their last appearance at the Cross Roads Arena in Corinth Mississippi. Singing a good many of their hits, their voices blended as always. It was a bittersweet night as it is their Farewell Tour, however they sound as though they have much more music left in them. Overall, a great night with wonderful music!
The Oak Ridge Boys are true legends in the field of country music and gospel. However, they probably should have retired about 10 years ago. Individually their voices were pretty weak. Collectively, their harmonies were good. They appeared to be having a great time on stage and generated that energy to their audience.
While the Boys may be in their late 70’s and 80’s their voices still blend and harmonize like they did 50 years ago. I sure got a lump in my throat when they carried Joe Bonsall on and off the stage. While he said he was ok it was just his legs it broke my heart to see him struggle. On the other hand William Lee Golden was literally running across the stage. And at 84 that’s pretty darn impressive. I saw them 43 years ago and to see them now is to love them even more.
Their music sounds as good as it did 50 years ago, they have aged, but the music is still Awesome. Love these guys and always will!!!
Great venue. Good seats. The Oak Ridge Boys are still able to sing just like they did 50 years ago. They have not lost their voices like so many others have. It was an enjoyable evening.
Love the balcony seats ! Love the wine ! Love the friendly volunteers and clientele.... LOVE the music !
This was definately a great concert and hate to see them saying goodbye after all these years. They have absolutely touched the hearts of many, many people through the years. God bless!!
They sound as good as they ever did. They sang a wide variety of songs, from country to gospel, even bordering on rock. In addition to great singing they told many interesting stories of their life on the road and how they made the most of their time off the road during COVID.
The venue was great and beautiful. Oak ridge boys were so good, very entertaining. Great music, and stories.
From being one of my all time favorite musicians I was totally amazed how well they still perform and sound the same from back when they first begun. Many musicians that I have listened to and gone to see live after years passed. They don’t ever sound as good as they once did due to aging and of course their voice has changed from all the years.
This ORB concert was one of the best I have heard! We have followed them for years and this farewell performance with the boys was by far the best with allowing each time to speak and share stories. They've STILL got it!! Sad to see Joe having difficulty getting around but their 4 part harmony is unmatched! We love those fellas and know their music will play on in the hearts of many!!!
Love this venue. There is not a bad seat in the house.
I’ve been an Oaks fan since the 1970s. I have a special connection to their music. I decided to attend the November concert in Nashville Indiana to relive those memories. I’m sorry I went. Time has caught up to all four of them and the quality of the vocals was nowhere near what I expected to hear. It broke my heart to experience them putting out a product that was off key and utterly lost. They should not have been on stage. It’s painful to say these things but it is an honest review. I was so disappointed that I actually left before the show was even complete. I will forever love their music and their harmonies, but I will forever regret seeing them like this.
This was a great show!!! Would recommend anyone who can go see them during this last bit of touring so so!
Excellent show. They sounded great and but on a really good show.
Other than it being a little too loud it was a great concert!!! I would go to every one the rest of their tour if I was a rich girl!!!
What a nice evening singing along to songs I listened to with my grandparents. The Oak Ridge Boys still impress!
It was a great concert. Loved every minute. It is a must see concert. They were great.
