  • Dallas Metro Ballet: The Night Before Christmas

    by Maxx48 on 12/20/12McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 2 out of 5

I was expecting a professional ballet with professional dancers, not an amateur show for children. This was more like a recital for the ballet school featured in the program. My first clue should have been when I saw tons of mothers with their small children entering the auditorium. They were probably attending to see their little friends who were in the production. This was definitely a program for children. Not at all what I was expecting for $40.

  • Not what we expected

by Anonymous on 12/17/12McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

This is a local ballet school, whose dance company is called the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet. It is not a professional ballet company. The show was basically a re-use of the Nutcracker costumes and sets, with different character names and different music, plus an appearance by Santa Claus. I thought we'd be delighted by something unique and different. We should have went to see the Nutcracker instead.

  • It made for a fun afternoon

by pitmancd on 12/17/12McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

This was a fun event to attend for a Saturday afternoon, especially for the price of the tickets. I don't think it can be compared to something more professional, like the Nutcracker, but we had a good time. Beware, there were a lot of kids there! So, if the little ones annoy you, you were warned.

  • DMB gave cute holiday performance.

It was a cute ballet performed by local talent. Children will enjoy.

  • Illustrative of the ballet

by dssrogers on 12/17/12McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

Most of the dancers were ready for the performance. One couple (gentleman) was not and did not do well to his partner. I also think physical fitness is imperative for a great performance and I'm not sure this ballet was good for some. They looked tired.

  • Beautiful Choreography

  • The Night Before Christmas is delightful!

by smith2154 on 11/11/12McFarlin Auditorium, SMU Campus - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

We've taken our children to see this beautiful production for the last five years now. The show is top notch with excellent dancers, costumes and sets. The Night Before Christmas is a great way to escape December hustle and bustle and actually enjoy the holiday season. The show transports the audience with a fabulous performance that really captures the magic and joy of the holidays. The DMB dancers are talented and well trained. The guest artists, former principals with NYC Ballet and Carolina Ballet, are sensational. The hassle free, safe location on the SMU Campus is particularly convenient for young families.

  • Wonderful holiday tradition!

    by Katie1229 on 11/1/12McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I have taken my daughters to The Night Before Christmas every year for the last 10 years. It is a spectacular show! The choreography is beautiful, and the dancers have excellent technique. It is perfect for young children too because the show includes Santa running down the aisle with candy canes, dancing elves, reindeer, a HUGE toy soldier, storybook characters and so much more. Definitely a lot to keep little eyes entertained! The Dallas Metropolitan Ballet dancers and the amazing guest artists really bring the ballet to life. You will definitely leave in the holiday spirit.

  • A Family Tradition for Generations!!

by FamilyMemory on 10/29/12McFarlin Auditorium - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This is a wonderful, memorable tradition for any family to share with their children. I remember going to this ballet production when I was a girl. Now I take my daughter to the same show. She looks forward to this ballet EVERY year. It is a much more technically challenging ballet than 'The Nutcracker.' Our family loves the beautiful costumes, excellent choreography, and talented dancers. We would never miss this performance. This ballet will definitely get you and your family into the Christmas spirit!!!!! 5 STARS!!!
