Excellent Show of Broadway Caliber. The entire family enjoyed it. The sets were wonderful as were the actors. Highly recommend it. Loved the Theater as well.

  • Music Man - a welcome surprise!

by AMMMA on 8/1/11Ogunquit Playhouse - OgunquitRating: 5 out of 5

Originally I thought this would be a musical more geared to a younger crowd; however, I was pleasantly surprised how entertaining it was and the caliber and talent of the cast! Really enjoyed this and would highly recommend seeing it!

It was fantastic! I took my grandchildren, ages 10 and 13, and they're both ready to go to acting camp! Peter Scolari was perfect, as was Julia Burrows. In fact, the entire cast was just wonderful!

  • Marvelous Music Man

by LouSr on 7/31/11Ogunquit Playhouse - OgunquitRating: 5 out of 5

Every aspect of the play was very good....acting scenery, costumes, dancing and singing. The story line came through well even though we were familiar with it.. There were 4 of us, ages 13, 45, 70 and 75. We all enjoyed it.

I bought tickets for members of the family that never heard of The Music Man, and everyone loved the show and had a great time.

  • Thirty-six Trombones

by Jetjack on 7/30/11Ogunquit Playhouse - OgunquitRating: 3 out of 5

The choreographer made the show! Kudos to the young man who played the lead dancer. Marian's "Till There was You" was a moving five-star showstopper. This was Professor Hill's first musical. It should be his last. He was more than a few trombones short.

We didn't have any expectations before attending and were very pleasantly surprised with the condition and comfort of the theater. We did feel we would see a good musical and the production far exceeded this for us. I had seen Music Man on Broadway when I was 12 yo and at that age probably didn't enjoy it as well as I should have but I recall being glad my parents made me go. This production made me feel I would really have missed something great had I not gone.

  • Great music

by Professorhill on 7/30/11Ogunquit Playhouse - OgunquitRating: 4 out of 5

It was GREAT to see/hear the music once more. I originally saw MUSIC MAN on Broadway when it first started in the mid 1950's. Have not seen it since. This was a great production, as always! However, I felt the lead, Peter Scolari either was not suited for the character or he just did not care for it. He had little expression or enthusiasm for the part. The lead female vocalist was exceptional!

Awesome cast including local children! It's a must see. Peter Scolari ... especially singing "We Got Trouble..." was spot on throughout and Julia Burrows as Marian was outstanding. WHAT A VOICE! WHAT A PLAY!! WHAT A JOY!!!

It was my first time seeing a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse and it won't be the last. The show was amazing - every performer gave 110%! We especially loved the barbershop quartet...and the dancers were absolutely fantastic! :) We left singing all the way down Main Street! :)

Kid friendly and a super job by everyone. I would recommend doing this if your up in Ogunquit. The playhouse is a great place, small but fun.
