    Very cool

by Sparky31 on 9/9/23The Museum at Bethel Woods - Bethel

The museum was much more than I expected and the style fit me perfectly--not dry or slanted. Wish the store had something that would have summarized the content of the museum.

    Loved it!

by Ertzy on 9/9/23The Museum at Bethel Woods - Bethel

The museum was much more than I thought it would be. It touched on all the years of the 60’s, not just Woodstock, the clothes, the hair, what was on TV, what kind of cars, etc. Very informative with videos and interviews of people who never left the area after the concert. The movie theater at the end summarized all the good music and gave me goose bumps!

The museum in Bethel is a wonderful tribute to Woodstock.

    by Coco on 8/27/23

Wonderful time visiting the museum in Bethel. It’s tastefully done and the walk up to the original site was “interesting.”. If you have time - do the pilgrimage.

Reliving an Influence in my life

    by TonyP on 8/27/23

Yep, I was there in 1969. My first time back. Loved every minute of walking the sacred grounds. Spent almost 3 hours in the museum. Watching each video. Reading each placard. All with tears rolling down my face. I want to thank Dr. Neal Hitch and Julia Fell for asking me to be interviewed for a piece of American history.

    A beautifully put together exhibit

    by Bonnie M on 8/21/23

Although neither my husband nor I attended the famous Woodstock Festival in 1969, we were both part of the movement - social and musical - which had its culmination there. For us it was a moving and meaningful experience to see the artifacts, the recollections of historical events during those years, the photos, and the video clips of getting to the event, the experience being there, and the music itself. We wondered what it was like for younger generations who were not part of that wave to visit the museum - a very different experience, we imagined - but they seemed to enjoy themselves. The exhibit is beautifully done (and think about collecting clips of film BEFORE everyone had a camera in their phone!!!) and fun. Highly recommended.

A great trip back in time

    by jlandwehr on 8/14/23

We made a 3 hour side-trip out of my first visit to the site of Woodstock on the week before the 54th anniversary of the concert. My 25 year-old son and I (61) are big music buffs and wanted to make a pilgrimage to Bethel Woods. It was everything I'd hoped for, a great look back at a moving event. My son and wife were both equally moved by the museum and looking out over the field. I only wished we'd had more time to linger and get down to where the stage was. If you listened hard enough, you could hear the echoes of Grace and Jimi, Richie and Joan accompanied by Santana's percussion and searing guitar. A great tribute to a memorable event. The next best thing to being there. I hope to get back someday! Peace!

    Great Place

    by Happy Traveler on 8/10/23

I love music but I wasn’t sure what to expect here and was pleasantly surprised! The museum is amazing and it is worth it to purchase the augmented walking tour. The museum isn’t just about Woodstock but has the history of the movement. It was a great experience and the drive to Bethel was beautiful!!!

Must Excursion for Woodstock '69 Afficionados

    by 60sthru90sClassic_HardRock on 8/8/23

I've waited for 15 years to get up to Bethel and the wait was worth it. It was a hot August day and the exposition / festival grounds are beautifully preserved and maintained; you could almost picture yourself facing the stage and sitting on the grass like the 450K crowd did... The museum and adjoining buildings are fairly new and modern with more than enough amenities. The museum is not as large nor equipped with as many rare or unique historical artifacts of the original festival as I initially thought, but it does an excellent job of telling the story of Woodstock before, during and after the event in a fun and visual way. The Museum shop has more than enough merchandise and memorabilia to satisfy most tourists and afficionados IMO. Take the $5 per head ipad-assisted tour to walk the site and get your bearings on where things were situated during the '69 event, juxtaposed with today's natural surroundings. For those with walking difficulties, the actual fields are quite hilly and undulate a bit like a bowl that's taller at the top and lower at the bottom (you can make that out in the 1969 crowd pics somewhat), so be prepared. The buildings and grounds overall are impressive and architecturally / environmentally respectful with the essence of the original concert IMO.

    Great Place to Visit

    by CEO on 8/8/23

What a great place to visit. We went in our Motorhome. Parking lot was plenty big enough to park and it was free. We bought tickets online a head of time. We did the museum as well as the tour with the docent Jim Shelly who was just fantastic. The knowledge he shared with us was priceless as he was at Woodstock himself. It definitely added a great deal to our experience and I recommend this when you visit. We also walked down to where the sign is of the picture of where the stage was and all the people on one of the days at Woodstock on a big placard. We then drove down to where the big stone monument was, and was able to take pictures of the peace sign carved into the grass. There is a gift shop, and there was a small food/snack bar. It was a great place to spend a day.
