Moody Blues On Tour
The Moody Blues are '60s English rock band known for their progressive rock sound and their role in creating the "concept" album. The group originally started out as a rhythm and blues band, but with the release of their 1967 album Days of Future Passed, the band created a sound that was a mix of classical and rock music. Days of Future Passed is widely considered the first concept album and their fusion of rock and classical music was dubbed art rock or progressive rock. The Moody Blues released 12 more albums after Days of Future Passed until they took a break from recording between 1991 and 1998. During the break, they toured extensively all over the world performing on stage with a live orchestra. In 1999 they released Strange Times their first Top 20 album since 1983's The Present, and they followed that release with 2003's December. To date, The Moody Blues have sold over 70 million albums worldwide, and they've had 18 platinum and gold albums. About the Show The Moody Blues live shows are a bit like traveling back in time with some old friends you know well but haven't spoken to in awhile. The music is fun and familiar even if everyone is a bit grayer while enjoying it. The show will see their most successful album, Days of Future Past, played in its entirety and in sequential order for the first time on tour. Expect to hear many of their other hits as well, and with a discography spanning 50 years, they have many fan favorites to choose from. The band is fully aware of their "old guy" status being in their seventies and still touring, so expect to hear some self-deprecating jokes regarding their age and longevity in the business. Ultimately the band puts on a wonderful performance that will appease fans regardless of whether you've been a fan for 50 years or discovered the group in recent years.
Simply mind-blowing! Amazing how well they are...so many, many years later!
I'm so glad we had a chance to see MD - first time in concert. They did fantastic!!! Really wish I could have seen them several times in the 70s and 80s as well.
The music was beautiful. The tribute was very nice to their former band member. The young lady that played the flute in the concert did a fantastic job. Most people wouldn't have tried to fill the shoes of Moody Blues , but she did a great job. Very enjoyable evening.
The show was incredible!!! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We thought the flutist had some awfully big shoes to fill, but she was amazing!! We are ready to go again!! Thanks for an amazing evening reliving our youth!
The Moody Blues performance at Tulsa's BOK Center was fantastic! They started rockin right off with "I'm Just a Singer . . . " and played mostly 80's hits the first half. The second half was of course a full performance of "Days of Future Passed" which was masterful and brought tears . . . They finished with Question, Story in Your Eyes, and Ride My See-Saw! At the end of the show it seemed they had difficulty walking off stage - not wanting to let us fans down . . . and now I'm a melancholy man dor I don't know if I'll ever see them again!
First off I would like to say, sorry for the loss of Ray Thomas. "RIP" The concert was GR8. No need to say more.
The Moody Blues haven't lost a thing over the years. It was a fantastic evening.
I really enjoyed seeing the Moody Blues for the second time in my life. The concert met my expectations and hearing the Days Of Future Passed album in it's entirety was a dream come true. The group still has it after all these years. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this event to anyone. Loved the graphics.
Great concert. My first time to BOK. BOK is an impressive facility and I will definitely see concerts there in the future.
We were very disappointed in the concert. After intermission the band stood around and didn t play while videos played on the big screen. I paid to see the band perform not see videos
The Moody's were just as good as they were when I saw them in the 70's. The Day's of Future past songs were as I remembered when it came out in 1967, Justin Hayward's voice was strong and had still sounded as good as 50 years ago! They are still one of my favorite group and I would go see them again!
Enjoyed the concert, the only problem was the stairs, it would have been nice to use the elevators for those of us with knee issues. One gentleman stated it correctly, " Having a geriatric concert, and then making us climb these stairs"
No frills show. Just good ol rock and roll. Nice change from the "super Lazer light circus pyrotechnics" type concerts
The Majestic Theatre is a wonderful venue for just about any event, but seeing The Moody Blues there was a special treat. I have seen The Moody Blues do songs from The Days of Future Past with a full orchestra, which was epic, but the way they integrated the orchestral recordings along with playing the songs live was masterfully done. All-in-all, a great show! Ray Thomas will be missed.
This was a really bad concert at the BOK. I was expecting The Moody Blues. Sadly, it was not anything like I had hoped it to be. Oh well, such a waste this time.
Concert left lots of holes. No big screens to really see the band and found out after the event that it was lip-synced. Lots of Disneyesque videos and non performance music and now I know why. The draw to see performers was a great disappointment and now I know why my feelings during the concert were surfacing. I truly understand aging musicians and even the recent loss of one of the band mates. I would not have spent time or money on this concert had I known of the limitations. Great show, don't pass this one up. We really enjoyed it.
Much better than expected. Still rockin after 50 years!!
Great music, all their best presented in one fabulous evening. Worth the trip.
I've seen 14 Moody Blues concerts! Still Amazing!!
